I suffered from irritable bowel syndrome and constipation for years. Honestly, I thought it was a normal part of getting older. It started after 35. I’m 52 now. I began a low carb “keto” diet, no sugar, no snacking between meals, no alcohol, fountain drinks, and an 18/6 intermittent fasting schedule with only breakfast and lunch. I lost 30 lbs in about 7 weeks. I have plenty of energy and now experience no IBS, acid reflux, heartburn, joint pain, and my no. 2 time has been cut dramatically. This is waaaaay easier than I thought it would be. Thank you for all you do Dr Berg.

Your acid reflux. Is the result of low stomach acid. That because your stomach acid is low. The valve at the top of the stomach remains open. That allows stomach acid. To flow back up, the esophagus.
Because as you age...!! Your body produces less stomach acid. And with low stomach acid. You can't fully break down your foods. Especially proteins, and minerals. Sooo....in essence. Even though you're eating foods.....
But If you aren't breaking these foods down. You aren't getting the nutrition. As it just passes on thru. Sooo....in essence you're slowly starving. Depleting yourself, of nutrients.
And then too....with acid reflux. People start taking TUMS, and other antacids. Like calcium, and magnesium. But those just lower the stomach acid, even further. Doctors even give prescriptions, for stronger antacids. But that is the exact opposite you should do!!
I got my best friends diet changed around.

It’s all so confusing because the things my body really needs (veggies, fruits, red meat) you’re told to avoid during a flare up and instead consume white bread, pastas, rice, etc. I’m on a biologic and a steroid and nothing is helping. Nutrients deficient in almost everything and already am seeing bone density loss. Would love a video on how to treat flare ups 🙏

Don't forget about fasting. Also there is a psychological side to GI disorders that is not discussed enough. Managing stress is the blanket term but it's a very deep topic.
I had severe UC, diagnosed in 2007 and found more help from the work of Dr. John Sarno than anywhere else. Read or listen to his book called The Mindbody Prescription. (Dr. Berg is next in line and a Great resource, no disrespect to him for being second).
"Listen" to your conventional doctor but you don't have to take their advice. They practice medicine.

Dr. Berg is THE ONLY doctor on UA-cam serving facts! I was diagnosed with mild Chron’s and IBD back in 2016 after also being diagnosed with HS (hidradenitis suppurativa). All the gastro docs wanted me to try NSAIDS but my dermatologist wanted me on Corticosteriods. I obliged and tried both treatments at separate times due to inefficacy on both ends. I ended up with really bad side effects from both meds and I got tired of being swayed by these practitioners. So I went online and started reading medical journals and case studies and everything lead me to exactly what this man is saying in this video. Vitamin A,D,K along with Spirulina and a strict probiotic regimen saved my life! I still get minor HS flare up’s here and there but nothing like back in 2016 and my gastro issues are almost non-existent unless I drink or eat something I shouldn’t lol I did this all without the sluggishness, hot flashes or weird dizzy spells. This man brings honest content backed up with excellent presentation and research! Thank you for your videos!

I have watched this Chennal try several thing's then asked my doctor about using betaine hydrochloride he asked me how to spell it and what's it for....it helped off and on then I saw the Tudca video WOW 1 tablet and the next morning all the swelling was gone. Dr Berg, why does apple cider vinegar get recommended for the liver? Would any other vinegar with a high acetic acid percentage work? Also can you give some advice on the optimal number of days to do a prolonged water fast? Is there a point after which you get diminished returns?

    • @ceilconstante7813

I have ulcerative colitis and my regular health care doctor prescribed pharmaceuticals medication and said I can eat whatever I want. This doctor also didn’t know how I got the disease. I got a second opinion from an iridologist. He told me I got this issue from stress and bad diet (to much sugar) even though I had a fairly healthy diet. What we are taught about our diet is completely wrong. We are told that if we have bad food every once in a while, it’s fine. It’s not. You can eat healthy for 6 days but that 7 day of eating bad can mess you up.
Anyways, the iridologist recommend the same supplements Dr. Berg mentioned. Im currently on this diet and supplement and hopefully it can cure me of the disease.

Yes you can over do it
However, if you've been deficient in iron for a long time, you've also depleted your body of most of its ferritin in storage inside your liver.
Men typically have a 3 year supply of ferritin stored in their liver for incase of emergencies. The ferritin is there for 2 reasons. 1 ..to remove excess iron in your blood that would otherwise be poisonous to our body, and 2...store that excess iron for future use when needed.
So...if your having severe symptoms of iron deficiency, then most of your 3 year supply of ferritin is gone. Therefore there is lots of room for extra Iron. So if you use the proper amounts of iron, at the proper times, with the proper co-vitamins, you don't have to worry about over doing it. Because in addition to getting your iron levels up in your blood and increasing your hemoglobin, you also need to make "deposits" back into your ferritin bank.
I've done many many hours of research on this topic( that's why I'm here) it appears that a dose of 65mg is optimal. And some research shows that dosing every other day actually might improve absorption.
For reference, I have severe Iron defenciency and really bad ANEMIA.
I'm taking 65mg in each dose, and slowly improving.
It takes years to completely become severely deficient. But you'll have symptoms that get worse and worse for many years, it's horrible. Thank God for Google, and I just have ask the right questions.
    I'm 63

See a gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy. He/she will see any visible signs of UC and take biopsies for testing for inflammation at the cell level. UC is typically seen as inflammation of the mucosal layer of your colon and is an autoimmune disease. See a specialist for a definitive diagnosis.

@@shamteal8614 It's NOT uncalled for. Doctors in the united states earned the right to be labeled lazy and incompetent. And you live in the UK so you don't have the right to judge truth in a different country because it doesn't relate to you, no more than I have the right to judge what goes on in your country. That's sure is some thin delicate skin you have. You're acting as if you're an american doctor and I personally attacked you. Your comment is the one that is uncalled for.
