      Agreed 110%!!!!! I've worked a rescue that was mostly parrots. And there are times that you have bite your tongue HARD, to keep from telling off previous owners, that they abused and neglected their animal. Whether furred or feathered. Sadly if they get prosecuted for animal abuse/ neglect, their charges are reduced down to petty misdemeanors. And they get nothing more then piddly fine or slapped on wrist.

    That coloured mare with her foal is truly fabulous mom giving all that she had to her baby. My sister bred show ponies, one gave all to her baby and needed extra groceries , but the other fed her foal, but kept all her weight on

    • @loribaker8339
      @loribaker8339 Рік тому +2

      @Elli Mae... money talks... that's why people don't put them down themselves. They need to be turned in for animal abuse for sure. If auction owners were decent people, they'd have a Vet on site to put the really bad horses down right then and there! But again, it's all about money!

    I'd still be sobbing if it hadn't been for the closing clip of the ponies finaly getting into the trailer just to escape again and again and again 🙃. I was so furious when I saw the horse you ushered across the rainbow 🌈 Bridge at the auction. Then my heart 💔 was ripped out of my soul and I couldn't stop crying. Bless you for going the extra mile even when the suffering can only be relieved by the last act of kindness. I marvel at the inhumanity witnessed at this auction. Bless the beast and the children.🕊🐎🐴

    Thank you, Tawnee, for explaining your philosophy. I know many rescues guard their limited funds by rescuing only adoptable animals. I don't criticize them for that choice, but I thank you for being there for the "forlorn hopes" of the equine world. It's hard to think about any animal subjected to the terror of the slaughter.

  • @zambiieunicorn8466
    @zambiieunicorn8466 2 роки тому +5

    As sad as it is, giving that last act of kindness was possibly the only bit of kindness many of them ever had. Rather than slowly die in pain in a dirty, dark crowded pen that smelled of sickness and maybe even death or continue on in horrible pain, you send them to sleep with the comfort knowing they are "falling asleep" outside comfortably and surrounded by those who have given them the love and kindness they could only hope to dream for.
    They're off to a place where they will never have to worry about being in such a horrible situation again, and the ones you were able to keep with us, will have a new chance at a life and learn to love and trust again with people who would truly appreciate them.

    Another great intake video showing so much of what you guys do to rescue these horses.
    I love watching your quick evaluations and partial diagnoses to give DOC the best information on what to expect when he sees the rescued horses back at your facility. By starting whatever treatment you can for each horse at the auction, you increase good outcomes and recoveries, and decrease each animal's stress and discomfort immediately. Your starting immediate treatment is the reason many of the very critical horses recover.
    It's refreshing to see the horses pile out of the transporting trailer to run free on GRASS, as they enter the beginning of their new lives. They MUST KNOW something GOOD is about to happen to them. For the critical animals, this transition from awful to excellent conditions might give many an incentive to fight to recover.
    Your HORSE PLUS HUMANE SOCIETY is set up perfectly for rescuing horses (and other incidental animals). I cannot imagine any similar organization that is able to do the job better. Perhaps some of your mentored organizations will come close, but you have 20 years of experience on them, AND, you are not profit-driven. They will never catch up to you, UNLESS sometime in the future, you turn them into franchises or satellites of HORSE PLUS.
    {{I don't think franchises work out for non-profit groups.}}

    thank goodness for the guys at horse plus who take as many horses, donkeys and mules that they can afford, and all those who attend the auctions and help with intake and treatment.

    ROUGH one for sure! It sickens me to my core to actually see what some putrid heartless disgusting barely human torturers do to the horses in their care.
    Honestly people have to start rising up and get the horses reclassified so laws are in place to prosecute and jail them! Just imagine how they treat other people!! Most likely abusers of the worst kind. Just put those images in your brain!!

    I cry at every episode. You all are such incredible people, if my business ever takes off one day I will 1000000% donate as much to you all as I can. thank you so much for giving these lovely babies a second chance, even if they need to cross the rainbow bridge. My heart melts every time a new auction rescue goes out to the field after the assessment, so so heartwarming. Thank you again. HUGE love from the UK💖💖💖

    You couldn’t pay me to live in Tennessee with that heat and humidity no way no hell good luck to you all. I’ll say just where I am Utah never real hot, but it can get cold, but never as cold as some of the other places around like the Dakotas. Sundrop looks like Sprite.. LOL

    You do an awesome job. Even though some hard decisions made, your first priority is the horses.

    Happy to see Garrick back. Where’s the new fan he received in another video? He needs it 💜

    Welcome back Garrick. One of my favourite men that comes to work on the horses. (The other is Doc lol). It would be interesting to have you and Doc together with both of your wit. I'm sure you would have everyone laughing. Glad you are back.
    Got to see if I can get some Sundrop over here in New Zealand. Need to try it.
    Tried Dr Pepper candyfloss a few weeks ago all I can say is YUM!
    So glad you did the right thing for that poor horse. Wish whoever owned her before did that instead of trying to make money off the poor girl. So sad.

    Love how you edited out the grinding of the float. It can be pretty rough.
