At the recommendation of a viewer I'm adding a donate link. I posted this video to help folks who might have the same problem and this video will be here as long as I have a channel. But... if you feel like this tutorial is worth a few bucks, I am NOT going to say no!
If I've done this correctly you can donate using this link:

    Thanks!

Thank you so very much for this. I am a 64 year old woman who knows just enough to be dangerous and was not going to pay a repair fee. I had checked the switch and cleaned the tube and it still overfilled. I came across your video, grabbed my can of air, pulled the tube off and sprayed into the air dome. You have made me one very happy lady today. Now I can wash clothes again. Bless you!!

You are a genious. I learned from my previous experience with this problem and a repairman, how to run through the through the trouble codes. It was diagnosed as a Pressure Switch problem. I went and bought one for $60 and was ready to install. I cleared the codes out and the washing machine ran perfectly for two weeks. Then the same problem, no spin after the rinse cycle. Same error code - pressure switch. Then I happened upon a video about clogged tube causing same problem. I thought I had found the solution, but when I opened up the washing machine the tube was very clean. But the air dome was about 1/3 dark at the bottom. I then saw your video and realized that this was it!!!! I went to O'Reilly's and bought two can of compressed air (only need one). When I injected air into the air dome, you could see all the crud just jumped out of there. Running my first load now and feel pretty confident that your video helped me solve the problem. (I still have the pressure switch just in case). (There is usually a paper inside the control panel that shows you how to check and clear error codes/> :)

Just a tip while you're already in there messing with that hose. It's probably good for preventive maintenance to cut a tiny bit off the end of the hose (using a razor blade) and reattach the hose to the air dome. The reason why is that that hose may have been on there for years. After that time the hose where it fits over the nub has stretched out a bit. You've now removed and reattached that hose a bunch of times testing this problem, weakening it even more. By cutting the stretched out end off and reattaching the hose you're using a fresh part of the hose so the connection to the air dome nub will be stronger. One thing you really don't want is that hose to come off some time, the washer would overfill and leak all over the floor.

Thank you so much for posting this!! I learned that chamber is called an "air dome". My 28 year old Kenmore top loading washer started filling past the lowest level (thankfully it did stop well before reaching the top-level) several weeks ago. Last weekend, wouldn't fill at all. just behaved as if water level achieved.
After checking my 's water level pressure switch (ok), the tubing from the switch to the air dome (ok) but finding that I couldn't move air from the top end of the tube into the air dome -> something is blocking the air dome. Not the small connector. so...
Your usage of compressed air was the key. I grab my can, used it & boom. Immediate improvement of air flow through the tub (reconnected) into the chamber. Then used my air compressor at 35 psi to over-engineer the fix. My trusted Kenmore back in business. 10 years ago, I replaced the motor coupling ($12 at RepairClinic), 6 years ago the agitator dog ears.
My goal is for this Kenmore to keep working until my funeral. That would get 5 stars from me. As it is, 4.5 because it's not yet made it 40 years. But I'm optimistic. 28 years. great run so far.

Just wanted to say this solved a no spin issue for me. Air dome got full and wouldn’t drain so the drain pump just kept running until it just shut off without a spin cycle, leaving the clothes soaking wet still. A blast of air to clean like you suggested and it drained, did a vinegar hot water soak for good measure, making sure it got into the air dome. The only solution to my problem, thank you so much. Great tip on how to check the pressure switch too.

@@WyldWeezle So it turned out my pressure switch was fine and the air tube was clear, despite being all full of funky stuff. So I'm almost certain the machine was set incorrectly from the factory, and we just never used the "Super" setting enough to realized it overflows when you do that. So I saw a set screw up in the pressure switch that I tuned a full turn counterclockwise, and it lowered the height of the water by about an inch. So it's fixed now, but by turning a set screw. And then I dumped 3 cups of bleach in the machine with the full tub of water and let it do a 30 minute long soaking cycle to clean up all the mold I never realized we had in the machine.

Aspirate it with the toy syringe and flush it on the hole located inside the outer tub... All that gunk will come off... I used this procedure to fix my washer that wouldn't progress past the wash cycle. The tub would drain, the pump would continue to run, and then eventually the washer would fault out and stop the cycle. The rinse cycle would not start. I used an air compressor with a needle that is used to inflate balls to get blow out the gunk (lots of pet hair). Also, make sure to remove about an inch from the hose that connects to the air dome to ensure a tight seal.

I looked at the air dome thing and noticed it was 4/5th full on start. So it made sense it wasnt draining. I put thru spin cycle and it emptied and ran perfect. So I went to internet to see how to clean or replace that dome. mine looks like it has gunk in it, preventing drainage. Did you clean yours with bleach or anything first? I am gonna try your idea for sure and try and clean. Thanks you prob saved a lot of ppl mad money bc I only see basic pressure switch videos.

Hi WyldWeezle. What I want to know is where is the gunk going because even if I use the compressed air and the air dome is cleaned out I'm concerned that the gunk will just settle back into the airdome after awhile.Should the tub have water in it before I use the compressed air.

    • @WyldWeezle

It blows out into the washer and then goes down the drain. I ran a cycle after I did this just to make sure it was draining properly. I haven't had this particular problem again since posting this video. I presume it is gradually filling up again, but so far so good.

I know this is an old video but if anyone can help it would be great. I have the exact same machine. My problem is it won’t fill up to the proper amount. I, too, blew into the hose and it stopped filling. So its not the pressure switch. Then I did what you did. I sprayed compressed air into the air dome. I think it pushed a little of it out but not enough. I can still see blue-ish lint, and a black color like yours. The water now seems to be getting a little higher, but it won’t finish the entire cycle overall. It gets to the ‘wash’ phase and just freezes. Maybe the control board? Or maybe I’m not giving it enough time. It’s not my washer, fixing it for a family member. Not sure how long each process takes.
Anyway, has anyone had my problem? Washer not filling up to the desired setting? Did this trick with the airdome work? If so, what did you use to clean it out? As a last resort, I’m going to drill a small hole in the air dome and clean it that way. Then buy an expensive epoxy glue to seal it back up. TIA

      Anybody have this same issue?
I remember seeing someone trying to get white vinegar inside the air dome to see if it would dissolve the stuff inside, or getting an unbent paper clip or something in there to swish it around.

@@WyldWeezle I found a website that had an actual repair man on it. He said put bleach in the air dome and let it dissolve everything. Then open up the top part of the machine and disconnect the tube attached to the pressure switch. Blow hard until it feels clear. He’s said that should be enough. Going to try it out tomorrow. I’ll report back what happens. Thx for the reply.

I set the control nob to “auto detect load”, and it worked like a charm. I think I’m going to clean it once more before I leave it alone for another 5 years. Going to spray some bleach in the air dome instead of vinegar. I’ll let it settle in for awhile. Then, instead of using a can of compressed air at the tiny hole, I’m going to blow very hard form the top of the tube. See if that helps some. I haven’t tried different water level settings yet, only the auto detect load setting. Gotta love the internet… You can do just abt anything if you have the time and patience. Thx again. 🙏

Excellent! You did this and it worked?

    • @ColdHawk
      @ColdHawk 3 роки тому +2

@WyldWeezle - Yes. I used water and then shot some Simple Green cleaner (using a spray bottle) down into the little nipple the hose attaches to and let it sit for 5 or ten minutes, then again with water. It opened up a path for the water and I kept going with the waterpik. Eventually, i could see some of the crud start to break off the walls of the air dome. Looking down between the tub and basket, chunks of goop could be seen going into the tub. Brother, it took a while though!
I think that would have been adequate but the air dome was still discolored brown with remaining globs of stuff still stuck to the walls and, being stubborn, I removed the basket and directed the stream of water into the air dome from the tub side. That actually got the walls of the air dome almost completely clean.
My wife was a little dismayed by my use of the waterpik but I only put water through it. I cleaned it thoroughly and just threw out the little disposable nozzle/tip.
