    Copeland is one of the few drummers who is pretty much irreplaceable in a band due to his unique style and technique. He’s in there with Bonham, Peart, Moon, Baker and very few others.

      He uses traditional grip, a style that goes back hundreds of years and is often used by jazz drummers. Most rock drummers use matched grip.

    • @Guppusmaximus
      @Guppusmaximus 2 роки тому

      @@weebunny And, I remember when that used to matter. Now you have Jazz / Fusion beasts like Gergo Borlai who murders single strokes with a matched grip but switches every so often to trad. Then you have Metal monsters like Eloy Casagrande who does wrist drops with the stick in between his middle finger and ring finger AND Wanja Groger where it looks matched but his does a alien-like push / pull maneuver that pretty much eliminates the wrist. I will always love and respect Mr. Copeland but drummers like him need to start acknowledging the players that have surpassed him.

    • @frankhoward7645
      @frankhoward7645 2 роки тому +1

      @@weebunny He uses a variation of the traditional grip. Rather than holding his left stick between his middle finger and his ring finger, he holds it on the other side of his middle finger, between his middle finger and his index finger.

    I think the Foo Fighters could do a lot worse that to ask Stuart Copeland to stand in for Taylor Hawkins in the medium term (if they haven’t already). The two drummers were good friends. This isn’t the first time Copeland and the Foo fighters have played together. And not only is Stewart Copeland an astonishingly good drummer, (with perfect chops for the FF sound) not only does he have energy levels that most seventeen year olds would find it difficult to keep up with, but emotionally he has everything you might want in a favorite older brother. A very stabilizing presence. And Dave Ghrol especially would need that right now. They are already a multi generational band. My guess is that if asked he would say yes. As a fan I would be excited about that.

    Stewart qui è libero come il vento.. suona la gioia. Nella reunion con i Police suonava col freno a mano tirato per il solito problema con Sting. Sia benedetta la gioia di suonare con la propria anima, regalando a chi ascolta emozioni senza tempo.🙏♥🎶

    I was a big follower of Stew and The Police in the 80s. He was the only pro out there that every other drummer wasn't trying to imitate. Back then Tommy Aldridge and the like were what most of us green ass kids use to aspire to. Me myself, never ever strayed from the Copeland and Peart formulae. I even saved up and bought a Tama Imperialstar 5pc kit that had a 24×18 kick and deep, power sized toms. What a beast! Sounded like sh!t cuz I didn't know how to tune correctly but weren't them sob's LOUD! They were the same series kit that Copeland used in studio back then. Like Hawkins, Copeland has the ability to gift the audience with a great performance for drummers and non drummers alike.

    People outside the drummer world don't give him enough credits. For drummers he's in the front line a along with Peart, Bonham, Moon, Starr. What this guy did for drumming is incredible.
