Taylor sent her a voice text saying that he wanted Miley to sing "photograph" because he thought it would sound amazing with her voice. Taylor also passed away when Miley was touring the same festivals in South America as Foo Fighters. So yeah, she belonged at that tribute concert.
Any "old rock fan" that hates Miley Cyrus simply hasn't been paying attention the last several years. She's been doing her damnedest to bring rock to a generation of kids that wouldn't know good music if it slapped them in the face. That includes originals as well as covers. She's doing The Lord's work and doing it well. All while being on fire she's so frikkin' hot.

She sounds great. Was never a big fan of hers but she has a fantastic voice. She's fun to look at. The thing I have started to really like her is how she embraces the old rockers. She has respect for rock and it shows in her rock songs and all the different times she's been together with the originals.

It's incredible to think, one of the greatest classic rock concert medleys in the last 10 years, and Taylor isn't jamming. Just very bittersweet for me. Outstanding concert/guests. One of the best sounding combinations of the night (IMHO). Rick Savage and Patrick Wilson (drums) provided an awesome bottom end groove. Joe and Miley did a great job and Phil Collen nailed it.

I'm almost certainly one of "the old rock fans" you refer to. She did really, really great. I'm not going to spend money on her earlier releases. She, like I (and all of my friends and acquaintances) did not always make the wisest choices. She has improved her vocal technique and chosen a different genre. For us Gen xers...this was our youth. Nothing will ever compare to what the 80s brought us. U know why it was so great..It was the music and what it meant to u. no internet..no social media..no tiktok..no FB..Just strait awesome. I can't even begin to think how cool it is that Taylor touched so many lives of all generations. I remember the day when Kurt went to the other side..and I was like dam. Who's gonna Finnish this. Well Dave let us know. He found what had to be done. Also...Shane..u sir someday will be in the group with Dave..Phil Collins..Jon Bonhem.

Pink was incredible, I was blown away. And people have big feelings about Miley, but she is really coming into her own and her voice is no joke. I think she is great.

My very first concert was Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour. It was a great way to start the concert going part of my life. 300 miles each way, but part of any great adventure is the journey itself.
My second favorite concert was, as it happens, the Foo Fighters with the Chili Peppers...

I would love to know how many songs Grohl has learned - from the many covers that Foo Fighters have done, the shows playing for Tom Petty, Queens of the Stone Age songs that he wasn't the drummer on and the vast number of songs he learned for these tribute concerts. It's astounding to me.
