Pat was just 22 when he performed this. Think of the skill and genius required to produce that, and at 22. Listen to the tone he's getting out of that guitar: it's filling up the entire sonic space. Believe me I am an old guitarist and he is dominating with that tone, no question.
The first time I was introduced to Pat Traver's music was about '79. I was only 12 or 13 years old and thought his tone and playing was great. A few years into my hard rock experience and I knew he was ahead of is time. I saw him on the Crash and Burn tour. Pat Travers on vocals and guitar, Pat Thrall on guitar, Peter "Mars" Cowling, on bass, and Tommy Aldridge on drums. Incredible band. In my top five musicians.
Pat Travers treated all his fans like crap. He literally spit in my friends face just for asking Pat to autograph his making magic lp. My buddy actually became the drummer for PT. In his revenge he slept with pats women. Lol
Hell yeah. P.T. laying down some tasty riffs. This is the first song i heard by Pat Travers. Ive be "Hooked" on his music ever since. I actually met him 17ish years ago. He was totally down to Earth. No "big shot" airs about him. Which deepened my respect for him even further.
I love blowing guitar player's minds who are Nuno Betancourt fans that have never heard of pat. This is one of his biggest influences, and you can see how he built on it.
There you go, that's how it's DONE! Thanks Pat that was a Straight ROCK Kick to the Nut Sack....... Nicko and Pete are KILLERS, Thank you for Posting this Beauty, Brings back some WONDERFUL Memories.......🎸💚
@@drjay73 it really is a shame. Look at Johnny Winter. He was a world class blues player but in my mind he can never compare him to Eddie Van Halen. Later on in the late 1970's, there were Mars Cowling on bass guitar, Tommy Aldredge on drums, and Pat Thrall on guitar. Great lineup for Pat Travers as well.
The grand formation of this band happened shortly after this formation. Tommy Aldridge on drums, Pat Thrall guitar, Mars Cowling bass and Pat Travers as himself. Live album, Go for what you know, one of the top 5 greatest live recordings in rock history. 1. UfO strangers in the night 2. Pat Travers gofor what you know 3. First concert go for what you know album. I think it was '79. BOC cheap trick and of course Pat. I was hooked. Seen him countless times. It's a workout when you see Pat live.

Right on. My favorite guitarist is Trower. Then Ronnie Montrose. PT, is in my top 5. PT, takes me back to my youth. Never tired of listening to his awesome work.
Pat Travers!! A lot of people missed out on this legend.
saw him 3 days ago, talked with him about old days, got his autograph, what a guy.
One of the greatest under dog rocker's in the world
Agreed! Underrated and a very unique sound. Always recognizable.
Right on
Absolutely no doubt about it.
He's so underrated it's criminal. Pat has been kicking ass for decades!
Only to the dummies. Not underrated if you're a fan.
Pat, Niko McBrain & Peter "Mars" Cowling on bass. Great trio !
They were a super group and nobody will ever convince me otherwise
Back when Rock & Roll was ROCK & FUCKIN' ROLL

I saw him a month ago. He did that Sugarloaf number, Green Eyed Lady, and it was fantastic. He still is a tone master, just can't sing as loud.
I saw this song Approximately in 2004, and i was on Shock. Front row. ❤😂 One of my fav of all times.

@@TRUTH4U2NO What are you leaving out? That's a convenient story. Keep your resentment to yourself.
Yes Nicko & Mars...these guys just kicked ass...period.
Saw him four times never disappointed
I got to see Travers live at a small club outside Chicago, and he was excellent! A very under rated guitarist.
This was my Second concert, was 16...and was completely blown away! Nico McBrain on drums, now famously with Iron Maiden!
Hell yeah. P.T. laying down some tasty riffs. This is the first song i heard by Pat Travers. Ive be "Hooked" on his music ever since. I actually met him 17ish years ago. He was totally down to Earth. No "big shot" airs about him. Which deepened my respect for him even further.
Haven't rocked old pat in years....just like I remembered ...... Thanks. Last time I saw you was a little bar in new port
I love blowing guitar player's minds who are Nuno Betancourt fans that have never heard of pat. This is one of his biggest influences, and you can see how he built on it.
Yeah man true rocker for sure first time seeing him it was in 76 open up for Rush my first concert ever see them three times total
Opener of one of the best if not THE best live rock albums of all time - Go For What You Know - so good.
Awesome song! Remember having both Makin’ Magic and Putting It Straight. Great albums…
Myself some the best rock and roll of the 70s saw many times in Texas DFW Love his boogie woogie rock and Roll music very under rated for sure !!!!
I don't know how I did not know this guy and his band, phenomenal
only 40 thousand views in 8 years for this classic song.. what a shame
There you go, that's how it's DONE!
Thanks Pat that was a Straight ROCK Kick to the Nut Sack.......
Nicko and Pete are KILLERS,
Thank you for Posting this Beauty,
Brings back some WONDERFUL Memories.......🎸💚
When I think of original Rock & Roll Pat always comes to mind!😃😎
Man that is some damn good rock and roll!!!!!
Very lucky to have been raised on this magic.
Pat at his Absolute BEST !
I had his on 8 track. Live! Go For What You Know!
Pat was always under rated
Amazing Pat,, what a great rhythm , voice and talent .... love it !
O my - this is a very cool slice of PT - one of my all time favs.....super under rated trio. - holy shit
Love Pat’s guitar playing. He reminds me of Johnny Winter, his vocals and playing style.!🇨🇦❤️
You are so right! I hear alot of Johnny in his playing - both vocals and playing. Pat is so underrated it's a damn shame

This is a pearl where is that time gone ?
I think this is the line-up of the Pat Travers band I saw at Stafford Top of the World Ballroom around that time. A lifetime ago.
So much talent on one stage, love this!
Sound quality on this video is Fantastic! Kudos!😉😎
Sounds so fluid, play this in my head all day
Pat can kill that blues it’s badass! I wonder how many Maiden fans know Nicko playing drums 🤘thanks for posting 🤘
Writing the #2 comment's an honor, but it'd never rock like THIS jammin' song can!
The energy, intensity and overall impact is spellbindingly authentic. I love the three-piece lineup; there is no diminishment of quality. None.
Killer 3 piece!
Awesome band.
THAT right there is classic. PT found the hook and knows it.
Best trio I've ever heard.
That’s Nicko Mcbrain on drums!
on coke*
And who wasn't.
Quite a difference between Pat Travers and Iron Maiden, but it just goes to show what a solid drummer Nicko was and still is.
Yeah I was like! That's nikko!!

What Aldridge did to these Travers songs changed my life.
Amazing for someone so young.
so gd amazing.
Crazy to see Nicko playing this old funky style of rock, and how he’d be in Iron Maiden a few years later.
I wish I would have
been there 🔥🔥🔥
Saw him open for Aerosmith twice early eighties, three times in bars mid eighties. Awesome show, especially in small clubs.
The best rhythm section ever.
So under rated
That's tight!!
R. I.P. Bassist Peter "Mars" Cowling
Rip, sad to hear that. Underrated bass player/musician
Yes, a great bassist and a good friend
Later on in the late 1970's, there were Mars Cowling on bass guitar, Tommy Aldredge on drums, and Pat Thrall on guitar. Great lineup for Pat Travers as well.
niiickoooo
with a normal kit. Amazing
Great band
Love pat, saw him in sussex, got cardboard guitar 1976 I think.
Outstanding!
Great video, thanks
Yes indeed! Nicko!!
Wow. Never saw this before. Just cookin'. There is a lot of Edgar Winter Band in that song.

Superb funk rock!!😅
Great band. Pete Cowling was a fabulous bass player, and Nico should never sounded this good with Maiden, he has a gift for playing funky stuff..

I love his sound, is he using a phaser or flanger or univibe?
Wow Niko McBrain I never knew.....
Took me years
to know Nico iron maiden played drums for awhile
Jolie votre son a la guitare jolie arpège avers les 5minute
Ill tell you who is gettin down thats Nicko McBrain way before Iron Maiden
these MF's knew how to play their instruments
Most likely to succeed. This was probably around the time Pat Thrall, along with 80 other would be hendrix's lined up for travers try outs.
If that's not playing and performing . . . then, I don't know what is!
Iron Maiden on the drums, Mercyful Fate on the guitars, great funk music😂
to bad mars cowling is no longer with us.
Strat woulda been better than A tele. Imo.
PT is still cool tho.
his other guitars got stolen. A les Paul for one.
@Kevin James
Just how Jake E Lee used to do on his Charvel strat.
Looks like a tele deluxe; those are very cool, though.
I liked his old melody maker best.
Pat Travers, Tony Iommi and Robin Trower the best guitarists
