Pats a true artist and one of the best rhythm and blues guitarist in the history of rock and roll . His live album "Go For What You Know" featured Pat Thrall on lead and rhythm guitars Mars on bass . The legendary Tommy Aldridge on the drum kit . And Pat Travers on lead and rhythm guitars and lead vocals. This line-up was designed for one reason and one reason only and that was to kick your ass with their hard dose of boogie woogie blues party music ever . and they were all that and more . I grew up in Orlando florida and Pat moved to the city in the late 70s and i have seen Pats band live plenty of times and never once did they disappoint . Just phenomenal group of musicians that was so tight it was unimaginable...

@Mick Cripzzz I have been thinking about him so much. He'd have been a blast in lockdown! His laugh was the best.
He didn't read music. He would listen, and play it. Technical terms I'm not sure of, but he learned by ear. He was a great cook, and that was how we first met. I was sort of stuck, as my friend went off with Jerry. I just wanted to eat! It was 3 AM. I was getting really grumpy. He didn't say much, but soon walked into the living room with a whole meal! One kiss lead to 10 years. Geography separated us. Always in my heart, and a part of my soul. Hope you are well, and safe, wherever you are~

@@deanpesaturo6401 Day on the Green 1978 Oakland Coliseum. From what I remember Aerosmith was bad. Bad sound. Awful guitars. Bad vocals. probably wasted. AC/DC were the opener at 11am. The stage was in the outfield of the Baseball stadium with packed crowd on the field(that's where the Green comes from). I think during Problem child, Bon Scott got on Angus' shoulders and went Through the crowd from the stage all the way to the other end of the field and back to the stage while Angus was soloing. So, fair to say they stole the show. Woke everybody up. It was a hot day and I was wasted so that's about all I remember.

What makes Travers a real standout in so-called "blues rock" is his songwriting, compositions, and arrangements. He goes far beyond the typical four-on-the-floor 3-5 chord construction, with plenty of stops and starts, modulation, and dynamics. It is obvious to me he studied jazz because very few write and plays like he does in the rock idiom. Randy Bachman is another that can do this stuff in his sleep as well. Rock ON, Pat!

Pat Travers is a force of nature. I think he was born to rock, literally. It's in his DNA. Like John Lee Hooker's folks said; Let that boy boogie woogie. And for all that baddassery, he's a nice guy. I met him at a fair in CA and he's a down to earth, genuine dude who's grateful for his fans and his success. Godspeed Pat.

@@Ppuffdiddleydangdoof One of the best shows I have ever seen was Pat Travers in 1994 at The Cabaret Club in San Jose! He had Aynsley Dunbar on drums. Pat was on fire that night!! Unfortunately, Pat hasn't had a great live band since the early 90s.

Great show. I saw PT quite a few times in the UK in the 70's, and, as a young bass player back then, Mars was absolutely one of my biggest heroes, and a huge influence.
And I didn't realise quite how much of influence PT was, until I started playing guitar in the late 80's, and all these Travers' licks started falling onto my fingerboard. Fantastic players, and always a cracking band to behold.

You want underated?.... check out "Stinky Kitty" by Blues Saraceno and get back to me..... wipes the floor with all others mentioned IMO.......Taking nothing away from these previously mentioned guitar God's but Saraceno definitely in league with Satch, Gilbert, Morse.....and virtually nobody knows him.... shame....on personal note...was invited to green room @Travers show in Sunrise Fla (Alligator Alley) to sign an Epiphone acoustic I'd brought on a whim and the whole trio was so cool and humble I learned to keep my ego in check when playing out....local legend Jimmy Fiano opened, same guy that would turn his back on us guitarists so we couldn't see what he was doing when he soloed..... what a difference!!! Thanks Mr Travers for the early inspiration in my picking journey.....
