It isn't just the arch its the ROM (range of motion) no matter how many times you look at it he barely even moves the weight a few inches. To refer back to your example, this is less like a long jumper taking a running start and more like the long jumper going off a trampoline.

(not all but most); His form on bench press is questionable though. but he pulled this off professionally.

@FMC Kronos no there aren't. Some people do want the rules for grip width to change. Considering even the 59kg lifters use maximum legal grip width. If weight class dictated max grip width it would be better. The smaller guys would have more range of motion than this.
If eddie hall or any strong men can flex like that or do sumo lift their wr weight lift will double that by now. And. Every bench is different technic. But to me its. Not a proper way of benching for competitions. And beside back will have lots.of pain

Plus plenty of lifters like Russel Orhii or any of the heavier guys don’t even arch that much. It only looks worse for lighter guys because of their smaller frame.

Plus the IPF has been finding ways to make the bench rom shorter. That’s why this federation doesn’t allow you to lift your head and forces you to have your whole foot on the platform. If you actually watch usapl nationals, you’ll see that most lifters don’t arch a crazy amount, have deep squats, and not all pullers use sumo. I do respect your opinion though and maybe powerlifting just isn’t your cup of tea but I wouldn’t go as far as saying the entire sport is a joke because there are lifters with a big arch and deadlift sumo.

He probably can bench over 100 kg and in any sport, athletes are going to find any little trick or loophole in the rules that will allow them a competitive edge and it’s the same in powerlifting. With all that said, I also don’t like the way that huge arches look and would rather see a normal arch with a bit of a closer grip but I wouldn’t discredit any lifter or an entire sport for their lifts if it’s in compliance with the rules.

Powerlifting is about lifting as much weight as possible in 3 long defined formats. I feel like if u change the rules of the actual lift ur changing the fundamentals of the sport
I saw some of the top powerlifters in the late 70s like Doug Young etc. They actually performed bench press with little to no arch, shoulder width grip,. Regular ( not sumo) deadlifts and squats without superwide foot placement. These guys were super strong and had the look of power bodybuilders like Franco,.the Mentzer brothers, Ken Waller etc.
Guys a bench is when you back is flat heels on the ground and hand position good and go all the way till your chest or elbows reach 90 degres not halfway and touching the top of your stomach
you should never bench with your back flat on a bench. its terrible of your shoulders and will only cause you to end up with problems later on in life. also what do you do if your chest is that big you get get your elbows to 90 degrees. I think you need to understand the movement a bit better. you are sounds like a know nothing gym rat and tries to tell everyone what they are doing wrong but dont know how to do it yourself

I understand that arching is a part of the bench but this is wild. They got rid of OHP because it became a flexibility competition and these bench presses are getting to that point. I know eliminating arch completely would be dangerous but there's gotta be a way to regulate it better
its been in the works for years now. they just cant seem to find a way to make it fair across the board that allow the other rules to still apply. you would think it was easy but when you sit down and apply rules in theory you can trip them up with other rules or just but the fact it would not be able to be judged fairly across all the different body types and sizes and lift at comps.

個人的にこの方と変わらない体重でいつも参考にしておりますが、ベンチプレスのアーチはどうしても真似することすらできない、mobility 訓練も常にしていたと思われます。生まれ持ちも確かにあると思いますが、確かに可動範囲が短くてたたかれることもあると思います。ただし、可動範囲が短いと言って自分の体重の10倍の記録は、それだけでも認めてあげないといけないと思います。頑張ってください!

idk, the range of motion on the bench was so small tho, it looked like a half rep. I have a bit of an arch, but that is insane.
I don't arch at all because I want to get the maximum potential out of my workouts.
And I bench with my legs slighly up in the air so my core gets strengthened too

Guys a bench is when you back is flat heels on the ground and hand position good and go all the way till your chest or elbows reach 90 degres not halfway and touching the top of your stomach
you should never bench with your back flat on a bench. its terrible of your shoulders and will only cause you to end up with problems later on in life. also what do you do if your chest is that big you get get your elbows to 90 degrees. I think you need to understand the movement a bit better. you are sounds like a know nothing gym rat and tries to tell everyone what they are doing wrong but dont know how to do it yourself

I understand that arching is a part of the bench but this is wild. They got rid of OHP because it became a flexibility competition and these bench presses are getting to that point. I know eliminating arch completely would be dangerous but there's gotta be a way to regulate it better
its been in the works for years now. they just cant seem to find a way to make it fair across the board that allow the other rules to still apply. you would think it was easy but when you sit down and apply rules in theory you can trip them up with other rules or just but the fact it would not be able to be judged fairly across all the different body types and sizes and lift at comps.
