I will never get over your playing style and note selection. I don't think I've ever been more satisfied after listening to literally anyone else. Awesome review too bro
Absolutely epic man, great demo and great playing Electric Gypsy. It's about time that Andy finally had his own sig delay pedal. Seeing him tour with a pair of Deluxe Memory Man's with those funny foot extensions for the delay time was crazy at the time.
I really like how your personality comes through Rebea with this pedal. I like how you make your presentations from a players point of view. You are in a group of players I refer to as the Sonic-Six, that would be with the company of Andy Martin, Mike Hermans, Pete Thorn, Tim Pierce, Brett Kingman and yourself. All are great players in what they present guitar-wise and personality-wise show different layers or ideas what can be created with this pedal. This is but one of many video's of yours I have listened to about pedal reviews, along with Compressors, Chorus, Boost Drives, etc. You and these other musician's who review these pedals give very valuable info when some of these pedals have yet to be shipped to local music stores in our own area. So in the long run you honestly save me a lot of road-time and fuel. Thanks Dennis
Thank you Rabea for sharing!Keeley Halo is a Beast pedal in every aspect of riveting sounds,I purchased the MOON pedal a month ago and I’m in awe with this Halo pedal that I’m definitely purchasing it.Cheers!
Since I've seen who's the signature is I was wondering: "will he play it or not?" And damn yeah ! He finally played it in sucha an awesomely his (Bear's) style! Thanks Bea for the Electric Gipsy - you're such a monster guitar player! And thanks for awesome review 🙂 Keep on bro! Cheers!
Man, the chord progression in the last track is awesome and instantly so "signature" of yours! Please can you make a video about how you build your chords voicing? You've got a lot to teach! Thanx!
I really didn’t need another delay, I love my timeline! but as I’m see @ in a couple weeks and this thing sounds killer. Well the deed is done and I’m well excited 😎🤘🏼
Holy moly that sounds so good, epic tone. Good demo, thanks. Just tried the UA Galaxy and that was great fun and inspiring to play. Need to try this to compare.
I dig everything you do ever, but when you are on that strat, you are in a world that is so amazing and so outside of your killer prog/Toska jams (Love them, all ). . . you just sound like the history of guitar coming out of one cool cat whose so much younger than me. I love how you get it and how you let tone lead you - but are totally always so yourself. You are something, man. Love you.
I discovered delay while playing my white American Strat through a Meazzi Factotum (which was primarily made for voice echo) back in late sixties when no pedals were around and this Halo pedal reminds me a lot now those days' sound. I think I'm gonna get one. :-)
Sounds KILLER! Great demo, as always. My amp doesn’t have an effects loop? It handles effects great, but this probably belongs after the Pre-amp? Love the simplicity and compact size.
We spent an equal amount of time with both setups. I probably spent a majority of the time during development with the Halo in front of tube amps and their pre-amp section. Only when I was directly with Andy did I spend a lot of time with it in the amp's loop. I find it incredibly enjoyable before a tube amp's pre.
Well done Bea, I was actually expecting a little bit of pedal functionality. Saving press the presets, toggling between first and second preset and maybe making up….etc That sort of thing to prove that the pedal is usable in gigs.
I've used it. It's fab. You can have 8 presets saved, toggling between 2 at a time. You press both buttons simultaneously to move between the pair's of sets. I find that I set one of the pair's more ambient and long, and one more slap back. The halo effect is a trip. The buttons are very sensitive, making them easy to hit on the fly, but also easy to change accidentally. You need to isolate it from your most frequently used pedals, like OD. The echo tones are all very dimensional and lush.
I’m new to delay, but my style fits it well, what I don’t like is hard audible repeats, I use a Vapor trail, I wanted warm bucket brigade but not the noise some pedals have SD is a clever guy, I keep the repeats at like 1. The reason is the notes coming back are loud….distracting, it was designed to do that!, I didn’t really understand, but I’ve definitely a found a happy medium now, with the rate at around 10:30, repeats at 7:30 but I’d like a deeper and more modulated & spacious delay. Stereo as well, with more fine tune capabilities, this Halo is fascinating, the fabulous bit about this is how the first note, before it delays, is clear, almost like the unit is off…..not distracting…..then this huge swell expands into the distance. I just want a bigger after note, and Andy is huge, his skills are amazing, but like Joe Satriani, the melodies are just gorgeous, & accessible, it’s not the beautiful progressions as much as it’s the intense emotions, and the space, the total package, he’s very different from Joe there, but I’m all about the melodies, emotive or nothing!🙂. That’s why I like you Rabea, you can be both ferocious and dreamy, a little of both those players I just mentioned, and by the way, I knew you had practiced up🤣. It’s not a real hard tune to play, but to get the nuance right is harder…. I also use SD pickups, but I just bought a Silo PU for the bridge in my blond neck and fingerboard strat copy, with a Sophia trem. It’s the only non Mahogany non rosewood fingerboard bolt on axe I have, and your sounds using the Silo with bolt on guitars convinced me!🙂 They are installing my new pick ups now! SD parallel Axis neck, a Lace Sensor middle, and the silo, the bridge and neck PU’s have a individual series/split/parallel coil switching with 1 volume & tone, can’t wait to play it!
Would this delay be versatile enough to cover 80's hardrock ( for example ain't talking bout love) and gilmour stuff or would you recommend a different pedal for that?Great playing and tone as always Rabea!!!
Yes and yes! It does analog and tape delay for vintage like delays. And ... Ironically Andy Timmons uses a dual delay, quarter and dotted eighth, that this Pedal has preset into it. Which is inspired from the one and only David Gilmour! Looks like this may be a great pedal for you.
@@lancecass8997 thank you for your reply!! This definitely seems like a great pedal. Unsurprisingly for something that is made for a player like Andy timmons
Best review I’ve seen so far of the halo. You hit on all the points that matter to a guitarist seriously considering investing into a piece of tech. Thank you for a job well done.
Sounds great. You know you really should go back and review the Walrus Audio Mako D1 Delay it's really something. They have a version 2 now which is even more refined and improved.
It's very good but I have a Raster 2 and Polymoon for delay and they cover a lot of this ground and more already but if I was looking for a delay I'd get it..
What things can be done that cannot be done with flashback2? I know this is a dual delay, but I'm talking about the types of delays. Also keep in mind that one is not playing a chord or an arpeggio all the time, and letting it sound,,,in real use, these pedals are more discreet. That is why I am asking. The idea of watching so many videos with the Halo, makes me feel, that my Flashback2, is not even half of that, haha
Interesting. Andy's delay trick was one side was dotted 8th at 375-ish bpm, and the other was a little over 500 bpm with a very few repeats mixed in about 10-15%. The way the two sides play off of each other, makes it more reverb like than hearing actual repeats.
Good point. Adds depth in a band mix rather than being a noticeable FX. Then you can turn up the mix to taste and do the Edge or Gilmour on the same setting.
Soooo, is it really just a dual delay - BUT the first present is Andy's Halo effect that he leaves on all the time? Are people going to buy this mostly for the first preset?
Is what you send the monitors you listen to the same as say, front of house at a gig? I go live amp to speaker cab, I can’t get my head around what you are doing, I’ve never played using monitors and a DAW is likely why, inexperience ….. but I just bought this delay🙂. Plus I’ve never used a load box…. I have a well insulated space, and no shared walls with neighbors, you may be playing at a lower DB. I would find that weird, I’m old school, haven’t recorded in years either. I find fiddling with gear distracting to self taught guitar, maintaining a mood is paramount for me, or I lose my zen/groove.🙂
I have the Halo, whilst the demo makes it look easy. It isn't. You do need to tweak it in a song/band setting. That said, it is a great pedal, especially when used solo. This demo does it a lot of justice as I am a very average player.
Thanks so much for recording this in mono! Stereo is obviously really cool, but not something I will realistically do anyway.
I will never get over your playing style and note selection. I don't think I've ever been more satisfied after listening to literally anyone else.
Awesome review too bro

I guess Andy used a Strymon Timeline. Too complex for his needs and mine too 😅
Andy Timmons is a god and needs more recognition
Indeed
Great guitarist but you don’t become a god unless you’re a member of a mega band who writes legendary music! Where’s the music?
@@ianthomas4568 On every album he touches. Check out That Was Then, This is Now. And his latest album, Electric Truth? Killer.
@@ianthomas4568 I agree....but you get the same emotional vibe from Andy T that you do from Led Zep etc. That's the claim.

I am a truly rubbish guitarist, but watching your videos just makes me want to get better. So thanks for the inspiration.
Sounds fantastic! I definitely needed to hear these types of tones and playing to help get me through a shitty day. Thanks, man!
Why
This pedal, man. So special. Thanks mate this sounded really good.
incredible Tones and that even in Mono. Imagine how it sounds in Stereo. On the Wishlist! Great Demo As Always.
Boy! SOLD!! Great great tones Beer!! Loved the whole demo.. Vibes n Tones totally epic. Stereo Demo please!! 🥰
Best demo I’ve heard man. Great playing and display of the capabilities of this pedal.
Sounds great brother
Loved the effort on AT, to hear you say how difficult it is to play is somewhat of a relief,
Thank you Rabea. I enjoyed your presentation and especially your playing! My Halo arrives today. God bless you and all you love.
Wow just floored by your demo here Bea. I mean their all good but this was outstanding

Probably the best demo of that pedal. Thanks Rabea. (That droptuned Mayones is off the chart amazing).
I keep coming back to this video, just to hear you playing that mayo. It sounds absolutely INSANE.
Epic Tone's 🎶 .. Great playing man 🙂✌️
Other than Andy/Keeley video this was the best video on this pedal. Amazing playing. Just ordered mine from Chicago MUsic Exchange.

Awesome tone. Looked like you were loving it.
Sounds great !!!
just got one! such an amazing delay!
If I actually thought for one moment that this pedal could make me sound even a dotted eighth as good as Bea I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
Just bought this today and can't wait until it arrives. Andy is pure class so no surprise the pedal is just as classy.
Holy moly that sounds so good, epic tone. Good demo, thanks. Just tried the UA Galaxy and that was great fun and inspiring to play. Need to try this to compare.
I really like your reviews AND your playing :-)❤️
I wasn’t about this pedal until now. The best demo I’ve seen by far. Thank you 🙏
Love your playing! Mine will be here tomorrow and I can’t wait!🤘
🎸 Just ordered 1 if it sounds half as good as you made it Im golden THANX Rabea!!!
The tone your getting is freaking 🔥🔥

Great Demo!🎸
Great demo, and fantastic playing. Also, thanks for using mono and not getting too sophisticated for this one. 🎸🎸

Always happy to watch you get lost in a delay.
Still want a Seymour Duncan dark sun because of your demo.
Good stuff.
every demo, you kill it dude. Love it.
Bought one today. Absolutely love it it's so deep for a compact pedal and tones for days. It's replacing my delay llama
How does one save edits to one of the 4 user presets
I can’t seem to find a vid with instructions

Does anyone know how to achieve this dual delay effect with neural DSP products???
No, but you can buy a TC Electronic Nova Delay that will do this in stereo.

Sick man.
My circa 2009 TC Electronic Nova Delay does the halo. Guess I'll keep it for a while longer.
Don't even need a reverb with it, this covers everything I want

He just released a new album. Maybe you should follow him on social media or at least watch his web page.
Love the tone man, gorgeous. That strat is choice too, does your pickguard not have all the screws in or are they just black?

How does it compare to the UAFX Starlight? Great demo!!!!
Will the 1st Andy "Halo" preset, sound way different in a stereo (two amp) mode, compared to this mono (one amp) mode?? THANKS
Could you please tell me how to set up 15:00 I love it
What song is he playing at min 12:40? ? It sounds awesome!! Thanks for such an awesome video
Electric Gypsy by Andy Timmons
could listen to that all day 🤟
Wow, excellent! I could listen to this kind of solo playing for hours - it's both highly engaging and soothing. Is there somewhere I can find more?
So true man, Guitar solo shuold bring you to other dimension
The fact that it's not MIDI means that it cannot be controlled via midi pedalboard, is there a reason why nobody points that? Thx!
I wonder if it would sound good with the ML3BEA baritone that I got this week?
On my 9th vid of cool sounds but not one has explained how to save changes to a user preset
Some of your cleaner ambient playing sounds a ton like "We Lost the Sea"! Do you listen to them at all??
Thanks man! No I haven’t heard them? I guess I’d like it if you’re referencing them!

Why can't you guys demo with super clean tone?
Not really a fan of super clean tones. I’m sure someone else demo’d this pedal with a clean tone so I guess you could check elsewhere
