Great tips Corey. You made me realise I use too much reverb & delay. When you had it at that level that that I hardly noticed it, until you turned it off, then I realised how much it was beefing up the sound. More tips like this would be great. Thanks
Man I love the way you cover so much that went over my head for so many years. You got a great ear for this stuff, you're the only guy that nails down the sounds Ive been chasing!
I've had my Keeley Halo for about 6mths but the operation of it mystifies me. I have watched countless demo videos but I know nothing about maths or quarter notes & I've been thinking of emailing Keeley to ask them if they might be able to help me out but you have given me some bite size chunks that I can understand and experiment with. The part that confuses me is the blue LED that signifies a change to the presets...and whether the pedal defaults when the power is switched off then back on. But the blue light doesn't default....groan...my head hurts, but thanks to you, Corey, you explain in a way I can keep up with.
As a recent convert to amp modelling this is really useful. It's so easy to go overboard with effects. Not too bad in your bedroom, but as soon as you get outside and turn up the volume, it becomes a mess. Cheers 👍.
I am binging guitar tone tutorials and audio quality of your videos over phone speakers stands out. Thanks for sharing your masterful knowlege with us!
LOVE your tips for live use - I've been playing for decades and have not really thought of my reverb settings, or used delay that much, but following these tips, my ideas for my pedalboard have opened up! Great stuff!
Fantastic review, and very helpful. It’s a stomp box jungle out here, and with so many different pedals to sort through, the value of these types of reviews cannot be overstated. Then, you have the dilemma of which pedals stack well, which ones perform well with both single coils and humbuckers, and the list goes on and on … Thanks!!!
Corey, you are an excellent guitarist and a brilliant instructor. Most people aren't virtuoso guitarist, and that's ok. But your instruction makes the rest of us better guitarists. My hat's off to you, and you have a true talent for this. How do I know? I am a GIT graduate. 😃
Pretty sure you can connect the Halo to the Hydra to sync the tempo with one tap pedal. I have my Halo connected to my Eccos and use the Eccos to set the tempo for both.
I have a EDQ dispatch master and I just bought a Walrus Audio monument V2 for $119. I wasn't planning on picking this one up! Dang Corey! #615boys #nashvillelovesyou
Cory, I always learn and enjoy your videos. Rob, I think you present information in such a useful and clear way. Thanks for doing this. I bet you are a great instructor and I plan to look into that hanks again!
good point the modern effects are emulating the room sound , like when the levee breaks, or Voodoo child the distance mic had a reverb effect that was not a pedal, but you can emulate with a pedal
Hey man, this is a great vid and really useful for working musos. I'd love to see something similar for acoustic, especially for solo acoustic gigs. I imagine it's some combo of compression, reverb, and EQ but I'd love to learn how you think through your setup there. Cheers mate!
I loved the video so much I bought both of these pedals and will be watching more of your stuff. I really appreciate the help on this really important subject.
@coreycongilio I like the style in which you teach, it is very practical and geared towards playing live and to be honest, some of this stuff I should know better than I do by now, but it's never too late even for old birds...thanks !
You always play like you mean it ! (make your notes say something !). Teaching this old dawg new tricks ! . . . . and gear . Getting a Light Speed pedal filled a gap big time. Thanks,
Thanks I’m surprised keeley hasn’t made his to use. This pedal. Andy went everywhere to to sit in jam but a how to like you did is necessary. Because of double. Use knobs
Great video, Cory! Love how you explain everything very well! Some years back I put Reverb BEFORE Delay, per a recommendation by Bob Bradshaw. Have grown to like that sound much better.
Great as always - hope all is well Corey! I finally actually noticed the ring...lol...congrats! I'm looking closely at the Flint v2, the Hydra, and who knows what else for the newest pedalboard Reverb/Trem. I'm leaning toward simpler is better though...Thanks for this.
Thank you Corey for the ton of information and the passion for teaching. The solo on the track is really awesome; is there any chord sheet/tab already available before I transcribe it myself? ;)
Great review of how a pro like yourself sets up basic delay sounds! When reviewing the modulation settings however, it would have been helpful to lay off the guitar's vibrato to demonstrate how it's the delay pedal that actually introduces that modulation and not the vibrato. The resulting effect is like a gentle chorus that is prominent in the HALO setting. In any case, I love your videos and learn something every time I watch them!
Awesome info very practical / useful info backed up by heaps of talent! Nice job! For rotary, I LOVE my Strymon Lex... run it in stereo... awesome... and the low speed is tasty!
Great video again. I like the rotorary at pedal. I’ve always wanted one but have never bought one. I tried running my guitar into my Hammond organ, unfortunately the input only goes into the speaker with out the Leslie so it won’t work.
Beautiful sound and amazing playing, very inspiring, thanks Corey for the tips (I use my Carbon Copy and my Wampler Tumnus for the moment but soon I get the Lightspeed )
Awesome video as always Corey, you really make some of the best content on here! I always love these since, even though I think I’m fairly far along with my knowledge of effects and gear I find I always still learn something. Would love to see a video where you detail dialing in a great amp sound, you have such great tones and I’ve found in my own home studio sometimes I struggle with getting exactly what I want out of my amps! Thanks for making such great content 🙌🏻
Corey, love the tone you have here. I’ve been using a Strymon Deco for that little slap/room doubler. Needless to say, that’s an always-on now. Still struggling with ‘verb. I’ve been using a Flint, which comes closer than most to the sound in my head. Might see if I can get my hands on a Hydra or the UA as I feel I need a bit more control of the pre-delay. Thanks for all you do!
Corey. Thank you so much for the video. Really useful. I use the same Keeley pedals and I am very happy but I put first the Reverb and second the Halo. Waht do you think? Cheers.
Try it all the way down and then up to roughly 10 o’clock or so. Otherwise, it might start to sound more like a slap echo. Nothing wrong with that just, starts to get more like delay rather than reverb
I like my Keeley Hydra, and think Robert did a great job with the interface. It's well labeled, so accessing the secondary features are (more or less) intuitive. My only issues with the Hydra is that the reverb on mine is very noisey and I sometimes get a low end hum in some venues when engaged. I'm seriously considering the Keeley Halo echo unit to replace my BOSS DD-200. The BOSS unit is good with a lot of odd delay effects, but surprisingly lacks a stereo delay. Being a stereo pedal, I expected the DD-200 to have stereo delays. The Halo obviously has some great stereo effects.
Just found this video and love it. Are the tones all in mono? It looks like it from when you held up the pedalboard, but I wanted to verify. I'm into the Halo, but worried about how it will sound mono.
@coreycongilio my fly rig with Dusty (Dusty Leigh Huston) has the Halo, a TC chorus, a Gearbox overdrive and a Suhr Woodshed compressor going thru a Strymon Iridium. I use a Mission expression pedal to control the Halo. It has changed my life.
I tend to prefer using a room reverb as a slapback than actually using a slapback. Could be my undisciplined playing preferring not having the repeats, or could be that using a reverb for slap leaves my other delays open for more "showy rubbish" to be piled on top.
Awesome tutorial Corey, always curious how folks use delay. Also, maybe alone in this opinion, but anyone who designs a delay that first requires a long press to enable tap tempo has probably never used a pedal while live gigging :) kind of a deal breaker for me

Greg Martin often jokingly refers to reverb as “talent”. “Let’s turn up the talent a bit”.
😂😂👍🏼
Greg is such a cool dude.
Sorry to hear all these excellent musicians have been fooling me for years by using reverb.Damn!
😂
You are an outstanding player, my friend. Just discovered your channel recently and I can't get enough of your musicianship!
Wow! Thx so much!
Man I love the way you cover so much that went over my head for so many years. You got a great ear for this stuff, you're the only guy that nails down the sounds Ive been chasing!
The timing of those bends and vibrato on that Les Paul solo at 1:53 were spot on. Great playing

Best HALO demo yet!! Thanks Corey, you rock!!!!
I found the Neo Instruments mini Vent II to be THE rotary pedal to use - If you haven't played one... you should check it out ASAP!
that's a good one!
As a recent convert to amp modelling this is really useful. It's so easy to go overboard with effects. Not too bad in your bedroom, but as soon as you get outside and turn up the volume, it becomes a mess.
Cheers 👍.
This is an exceptionally useful video that really made me think about how to best dial in a great delay/ reverb sound. Thank you!
I love your videos man... especially the basic, "keep it simple" theme used both for gear and playing (e.g. rhythm)
Man Corey this is a real classroom on delay and reverb , I'm going to share this with all my guitar player mates .....
Thanks for this! I have the halo and now I’ll start dialing in my own presets.
I am binging guitar tone tutorials and audio quality of your videos over phone speakers stands out. Thanks for sharing your masterful knowlege with us!
Awesome, thank you!
LOVE your tips for live use - I've been playing for decades and have not really thought of my reverb settings, or used delay that much, but following these tips, my ideas for my pedalboard have opened up! Great stuff!
Corey, thanks for the help on slapback delay! Great sound!!!
Thanx Mr Congilio for demoing all those pedals. Some really cool sound's flying around there!
Fantastic review, and very helpful. It’s a stomp box jungle out here, and with so many different pedals to sort through, the value of these types of reviews cannot be overstated. Well done, thanks for posting. So delay into reverb... have to try that.
Was helpful to understand how to use the pedal in typical situations
I know I've said it before, but you are such a killer player. You really get the best out of your gear too.
Cory, I always learn and enjoy your videos. Rob, I think you present information in such a useful and clear way. Thanks for doing this. I bet you are a great instructor and I plan to look into that hanks again!
Corey! Great composition! Phenomenal playing. Excellent description and demos of these 2 important effects. Thank you.
good point the modern effects are emulating the room sound , like when the levee breaks, or Voodoo child
the distance mic had a reverb effect that was not a pedal, but you can emulate with a pedal
Awesome video, especially since pedal Santa delivered a Keeley Hydra & Eccos during tonemas 🎄 🤣🤣
I got hypnotized by the polytune display.. especially on bends 😂🎸👍
Hey man, this is a great vid and really useful for working musos. I'd love to see something similar for acoustic, especially for solo acoustic gigs. I imagine it's some combo of compression, reverb, and EQ but I'd love to learn how you think through your setup there. Cheers mate!
Picked up the keenly caverns recently. Great delay and reverb combo! Loved the show with RJ from the other day!
great pedal and thanks!
The tone/sound you get out of your gear (and fingers) here is simply amazing. Such a great great sound. You have good ears and great taste Sir :-)
I loved the video so much I bought both of these pedals and will be watching more of your stuff. I really appreciate the help on this really important subject.
Hey that’s awesome! Thx for watching
@coreycongilio I like the style in which you teach, it is very practical and geared towards playing live and to be honest, some of this stuff I should know better than I do by now, but it's never too late even for old birds...thanks !
As always Cory, useful and practical information from my favorite Pro!
Awesome playing,,great info, As one of your Blues students I flat dig it Thanks..
I appreciate that!
Fantastic comprehensive review.
Great video. Kudos for maintaining a good balance between your speaking and playing. Well produced.
Glad you liked it!
You always play like you mean it ! (make your notes say something !). Teaching this old dawg new tricks ! . . . . and gear . Getting a Light Speed pedal filled a gap big time. Thanks,
Such a beautiful intro solo😍👍
Got Diamond MML Jr delay but the HALO will be the next one for sure !!!! Great review once again Corey . Hope you perfectly well nowadays 😉
Nice board, nice sounds and nice playing.
Have grown to like that sound much better.
thanks super helpful, i tried your delay/reverb tips im getting great tele tones. i enjoyed the full board review at the end
That is some very practical info man. What great guitar playing, your rhythm playing is absolutely fantastic. Great vid
Glad you liked it!
Recently got a Halo and needed this video! Felt slightly guilty reducing the level on all of the presets. Except the Tom Scholz. Can't let it go.
Corey, you're an amazing player putting out great video after great video! Thank you!
I appreciate that!
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Corey for the ton of information and the passion for teaching. The solo on the track is really awesome; is there any chord sheet/tab already available before I transcribe it myself? ;)

Awesome info very practical / useful info backed up by heaps of talent! Nice job! For rotary, I LOVE my Strymon Lex... run it in stereo... awesome... and the low speed is tasty!
The Vent is a great rotary. Does the slow speed well, alot of them don't. Great sounding rig :)
This was really helpful. I got my first delay pedal and Halo is awesome yet a bit overwhelming.
Glad it helped!
This is great! I have both pedals and this is very helpful......
Man Corey has some fantastic phrasing, I really have to learn more
Great video again.
Love those demo/tutorials. Very informative.
Glad to hear it!
I need the Hydra now - that pedal is super cool!
Excellent video, Corey! Loved this! So much education!
Glad you enjoyed!
First time watching you but not my last, excellent flow and discussion!
Thx!
Great video. Very informative. How would you use a reverb pedal if the amp already has spring reverb? Love the stache, too. Take care.
Dig the demo and tips. we need more pedals lesson from you.
thanks! more on the way
Thank you Corey! your videos are always so damn good. Content and playing are just off the charts FANTASTIC!
Very informative video, Corey. Thanks!! Love your channel.
Nice board Corey. Sounds great! Rock on.
Awesome video! What in-ears are you using?
Awesome video as always Corey, you really make some of the best content on here! Sick video sir! I have about the same summation of pedals on my board and I’m curious If you’re using the hydra in true bypass or buffered setting.
Killer tones and playing Corey!
Thx!
Good job, as usual, Corey. Appreciate the info.
love your playing man, sounds great! (and awesome selection of pedals as well)
Corey, love the tone you have here. I’ve been using a Strymon Deco for that little slap/room doubler. Needless to say, that’s an always-on now. Still struggling with ‘verb. Corey. Thank you so much for the video. Really useful. I use the same Keeley pedals and I am very happy but I put first the Reverb and second the Halo. Waht do you think? Cheers.
Thanks for the helpful info Corey. Do you have any perspective on how to use Pre-delay with reverbs that have it?
Try it all the way down and then up to roughly 10 o’clock or so. Otherwise, it might start to sound more like a slap echo. Nothing wrong with that just, starts to get more like delay rather than reverb

Great video Corey. Super informative & helpful for gigging guitarists. Is the board a XTS custom? What are the dimensions of it?
It's actually a 20" pedaltrain jr
Thanks for replying Corey. Are the back row pedals tiered?
Great as always Corey! Love ur content
I appreciate that!
Hi Corey amazing sounding board love the overdrive sounds, could you tell me the order you have them stacked cheers
I love that Trini!!!
Very helpfull👍Great sound and playing❤
GREAT content Corey!!! Subbed.
Thx Ron!
Just got one for a great price! It was a bday gift to myself lol. How do you save some sounds?
Very useful video!
Great video Corey. What fps do you shoot your videos at? Thanks in advance.
Just found this video and love it. Are the tones all in mono? It looks like it from when you held up the pedalboard, but I wanted to verify. I'm into the Halo, but worried about how it will sound mono.
Love it Corey thank you
Great content man! Anyone else find that the halo adds gnarly saturation when playing high gain for leads where it's just unbearable?
Hey Corey, have you tried an expression pedal with the Halo? I've had great results.
I haven't but, I'm sure it's as great as you say!

Really great stuff Corey, let’s grab a beer soon!
Thx brother! I’d love that. Lemme know when you’re in town
Great video!
Always killing it, Corey!!
Are you going in front of the amp with the delay and reverb?
