same opinion here. i know, music is a thing of taste and such, but i really L O V E the way he sounds and plays. never misses the hard to hit golden middle of just amount of technic and melody, nearly never i felt, like "aaa, there he goes to much into some weird stuff, that surely is hard to play, but it does not serve this song that well". never, it always meets this.and i love it. this emotionally loaded statement had to have some room and space to go somewhere, so thanks for making me want to reply to you :D :D

Took me literally years to get the perfect halo delay for the AT/EJ clean sound. Now it’s in a pedal. I’ll never get back those 5 years lol!!! Awesome demo Pete - love AT!!!

The closest I have gotten was the Counter-Point Delay by Diamond. It's an amazing delay! Now that the Halo exists, it's now #2 of my favorite delays. Check out some videos of it. The Counter-Point resides in the effects loop of my Mesa/Boogie Electra Dyne. There's also a TC Electronic Spark in the loop as a lead boost. It just simply makes everything louder.

Having watched your review of the Halo pedal I bought one, but I still refer to your video for different settings - you are simply the best at getting great sounds! Every time I get to the point where I will not buy another pedal, amazing sounding pedals like this come along! Another fantastic sounding composition from Mr. Thorn. I had already seen a video from JHS on this but when I saw Pete did one, I couldn't wait to hear it. Pete could put an album of pedal demo tunes and it would be KILLER!! Interesting concept. Just name the song the pedals name and it would be an amazing review of all of these different pedals and their potential. Cheers!!

I got see Andy back in the late 80’s in a small club in NY during the release of their debut album. The guy was beyond the most talented one in the band right up to the point when he did his solo section of the set and busted out what became “groove or die” and I have to say, he instantly became a force to reckon with! Not to worry Pete, you’re right up there with him!

This is the demo convinced me to purchase this pedal. The Sweetwater interview with Andy doing the release demo had a section of the "Boston" sound(almost like a reverb) hoping that is obtainable.
The pedal sounds amazing, I definitely want one, but OMG the Suhr in red, that I have to get.

My circa 2009 TC Electronic Nova Delay will do this. Plus more presets. So I'll hang on to it a while longer.

Hey Pete - Great denim as usual. If you see this, a quick question, I'm fairly severely visually impaired. I use a Timeline, largely to use a handful of presets. I'd like something simpler. I'm impaired, not blind but doing things on the fly is tough. Not to put you on the spot, any thoughts on this in terms of interface for my situation? I know you like the other as well.

I bought a Halo today at a store near Robert Keeley's shop (Edmond Music). I thought I'd never need another delay and that I have everything well covered in that department. I was WRONG! This is going to replace the Maxon 999 and the TC Electronic Flashback that are currently on my main pedalboard. That said, I'd love to use it my home recording studio too.
I just picked mine up at Edmond Music today. Watching Pete instead of reading the manual while I search for cables to patch this bad boy into the loop of my old JC120.
Quarter note and dotted eighth, I suspect; Gilmour and The Edge got a lot of mileage from that combo, and it's built into the TC 2290, which I'm now hearing was all over the Joshua Tree tour.
Yikes! Might actually have to read the manual for this. I think I need to buy this.

Sounds like a 1/4 note and .8th delay to me. Killer pedal- Andy is the man!

9 Volt, negative tip, and only 160mA, so most any supply sold will handle it just fine. Even my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus power supply which claims to only do 100mA, will power the Halo just fine it appears. I've run it that way for over a year during development.

The Rackman BBD preset is supposed to be modeled after the Rockman Stereo Echo,the little half rack unit from the 80’s…
I've just been spending too much time trying to make myHD500X sound like Andy's ethereal echo/reverb. I've come close wit a dotted 8th stereo delay feeding a 1/4 note stereo delay with a Cave reverb but it's a work in progress. It's the lack of reverb that I can't get my head around.....because it sounds just like reverb, but different!....It's almost like you're playing _within_ the effect as opposed to waiting for it to happen after the note is played.
Awesome review as always, but i believe this is the first time i think your tone is a bit thin, Pete. Maybe the guitar... maybe the Ruby settings? You generally sound beefy. I'll try to replicate this dual delay in my Timefactor!

Great Sig Delay and a Keeley 2, Makes me feel like a Cliffs of Dover Sounds, like it a lot with plenty of Bells & Whistles, I have the Carbon Copy Deluxe or +?? Don't no my own gear, MXR and lots of great sounds churning from it, but Keeley Went all in & out on this one, Sweet Delay !! Also Pete really digging the Red Sig2, hope U have a Yard Sale on old gear or maybe a contest just for us subscribers!!?? U R bound 2 B getting 2 much used gear or gear U just don't use? and....actually in regards of equipment .... i know as a music loving person this is impossible, but (for _my_ life situation) i really think was able to manage to achieve a status that´s impossible, which is: to have too much equipment :-P

If u set it for a rhythm. How do u change it for a lead patch. What u need to bend down and reset. While u are playing.
I love the form factor but can this do anything my DD500 and H9 can't?
Stereo sounds much better than the DD-500 IMO (I own the latter.) DD-500 takes work to get that nice of a stereo image.
The problem with The latest pedals from Keeley is that they cannot be controlled via Midi. It’s a showstopper, and I don’t know why they didn’t include it.
Probably was Andy‘s decision? I think he uses different boards for different things this is probably for his small boards that don’t have Midi
@@PeteThorn I Andy may not use midi, but I don’t think that’s the reason it doesn’t have it. None of the Keeley pedals have midi to my knowledge.

What things can be done that cannot be done with flashback2? I know this is a dual delay, but I'm talking about the types of delays. Also keep in mind that one is not playing a chord or an arpeggio all the time, and letting it sound,,,in real use, these pedals are more discreet. That is why I am asking. The idea of watching so many videos with the Halo, makes me feel, that my Flashback2, is not even half of that, haha
C'mon... I just rebuilt my pedalboard again... I've put a lot of thought and experimentation to get where I'm at now. Didn't need this... want it though... 😕
Sounds great but it looks like a cabling nightmare for stereo rigs. Keeley should have doubled the size of it and put all those jacks on the back. That said, I’m buying one.
If only this was available in a rack unit ! That would be an instant MUST HAVE for many of us
Andy used to get that "Halo" sound out of two Chandler SDE's. Before he evolved into the Deluxe Memory Man. The Chandler SDE is rack format. But they have gotten expensive, as anything else now.
I'm getting a CNC Turret Punch and a Dyna Press Brake in about a month. We will be able to take sheet aluminum or steel and make our own rack mount enclosures in house. It will be a huge part in shaping our products over the coming years.

Man, anything related to Andy Timmons is just the best tone and gear above everything else... Even if he play something stupidly chip, is the best sound ever.... And now, his Ibanez signature model is the most affordable version of them all... still KILLER!

Huge fan of Andy’s tone but disappointment with this paddle because Andy runs a short slap back delay and a longer delay simultaneously To get that halo effect this pedal will only do one or the other so you need 2 delay pedal to achieve the Andy Timmons halo effect am I missing something…
That's what this pedal offers, the dotted 8th note into a quarter note. It does it simultaneously if you will (in series), in the Halo mode of operation, that is the Dual Echo referenced in the title of the pedal. Andy certainly wasn't disappointed with the pedal because it gave him his signature tone (an improvement in his tone he would say) and he was able to remove a large delay piece off of his board. It's not simply those two delays in series that makes the magic happen. The tone has to incorporate the musical nuances of both tape machines and bucket brigade devices as well as a copious amounts of filtering to get the right blend and feel of the delays. The modulation of the two delays is a tiny universe in itself, it's not simply a pitch oscillator. I can't wait for you to play test one, if you're a fan of Andy's tone, you'll love what this one small pedal can do.
