    Hello, I'm from Vienna, Austria and I've been watching your videos for about a year. I don't have a big tarantula (and probably never will), but since watching your videos I've not only lost my "fear" of spiders, I'm even happy about every little spider that nests in my apartment. I currently have a cute little orb spider living with me, which "protects" me from all those annoying, smelly stink bugs and reliably transports them all to the afterlife.
    I wanted to thank you and your cameralady for changing my view of the little "beasts" so much that I really learned to love my little huntress.

    I had to laugh at myself, when I saw this video pop up. I said to myself "Oh look we've got a Poeci Sack." Then I laughed (as if I'm in the trade!). 60 or 70 maybe? They look top form. Great work.

    Hello Dave and Camera Lady!
    Greetings from Cupertino, California 😊
    As many of your viewers and fans attest, your admiration for, and respectful care of, your spiders and tarantulas has helped us immeasurably to overcome our discomfort and sometimes fear of arachnids. For this, I am truly thankful.
    Personally, I’ve gone from a fearful reaction to a respectful and interested appreciation of spiders I encounter. For relatively small (less than 1.5”) I happily cup and move them outdoors when I find them making a home inside.
    But, in Californian, as in many locations, we do sometimes encounter a larger spider. Yesterday, I met a 5” huntsman spider in my laundry room.
    Could you consider creating a video on how the novice could calmly collect a large spider and move it outdoors or away from the family. I’m sure many of your fans and beyond would benefit from your calm methods.
    Thanks for your consideration and for all you’ve done to make our daily encounters a source of pleasant curiosity rather than fear.

    • @rebel4466
      @rebel4466 Рік тому

      Honestly it's the same technique for all spiders. Cup them, move them. Huntsman spiders just have a very good grasp on their surroundings and are pretty fast, which makes them harder to collect. Also they have a very high stress tolerance, a low likelihood of biting as a defense and very weak venom. You can collect them by hand and they don't give you much of an issue (if you don't grab them but make them move onto your hands). But that's probably out of the question for an arachnophobe

    • @daveslittlebeasties
      @daveslittlebeasties  Рік тому +2

      It’s so nice hear how people are confronting their fears and becoming comfortable enough to deal with their house guests, we can use exactly the same techniques to catch and move them in the home as we do in the enclosures ❤❤❤❤

    • @animations4588
      @animations4588 Рік тому +1

      Hello!
      Many thanks for your replies.
      I’ve hunted for the huntsman, but no luck.😊
      I imagine he or she is tucked away, and I’m happy not to disturb them. I’ve left a catch cup in the garage just in case. Of course, if I’m truly honest, I’m pleased this spider’s eluded me. Even the little ones are so quick! This one seemed to teleport before my eyes 😮
      What’s amazing is I was several feet away when I saw her, made no movement towards her, and she sensed me and ducked away.
      They must have good eyesight? Truly she could tell there was something to evade.
      Impressed!

    An absolutely stunning little momma!!! Those precious little ones will turn into beautiful adults! Tarantulas keepers have alot to do with the survival of the species. As long as we breed these rare animals, at least they won't becomes extinct in captivity. The loss of habitat is the reason they're so endangered. Mankind I'd both the saviors and destroyers. That's the sad fact of the matter! As always Dave... you and Camera Lady are amazing!!🥰

    Success with difficult species is becoming the rule!
    I don't know if you have any inclination to go to the trouble of experimenting with it, but one phase of the spider's life you haven't covered yet, as far as I'm aware with a video, as far as I'm aware, is the formation of the egg sac.
    Obviously, this would probably not be easy to do, but I think if you had a red light, or an infrared source, and a small, solid-state camera, like on a phone, set for time-lapse, (all easily had in this day and age), and maybe put a box over the light source, camera and enclosure after pairing to keep everything "dark", you might pull it off.
    You could even run a cable out of the box to a laptop, and check on the progress of things daily.
    if you had a species where it was critical to retrieve the sac at some particular point, you'd stand a much better chance.....
