I think my favourite guide is Dreamworld’s “ultimate 2021/2022 guide to dreamcatcher”. I know it may be a year or so old, but I think it is still very relevant and useful for new fans, and I think it would be great to fully introduce Dreamcatcher to you guys!
It's not exactly a guide and it's now a bit old, but "Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: A History of Dreamcatcher" is a good way to know the group's history
Yes I also recommend Mera's video "Dodging Disbandment ..." first. The videos show's more of the background story and doesn't show to much of the songs. It covers the first 3 years of Dreamcatcher + the Prequel "MINX" and is the best introduction to them. The editing is also perfect with hilarious sections. Once completed it's ok to move on to the other "Ultimate... " guide mentioned (but beware it's throws all the songs at you at the beginning).
Deja Vu are literally false memories. Yoohyeon, possessed by darkness, betrayed Jiu the rightful Queen and led a revolt against her. She lost, but Jiu spared her life because of the friendship they once had. Yoohyeon then proceeded to kill her and created a lot of false memories to justify what she had done. Mainly that Jiu betrayed and tried to kill her. Yoohyeon is sitting on the throne at the end, lost in those fake memories. The realm is in ruins and she has either killed, imprisoned, or exiled all the court ladies who had once been her friends. She is quite mad.
"An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023" by dreamer is the best updated full guide for you to start with, and then if you want to see more, detailed guide to each of the girls, im suggesting the "this is ......" series by insomnicsy hope this helps 🤗

The music video is no joke either. Clearly presenting a tragic story, the video depicts the seven members as rulers of a kingdom, with a struggle for power breaking out between JiU and Yoohyeon. The scenes between the two facing off are particularly powerful, with JiU pointing the end of a rapier at Yoohyeon, in control of her fate. She makes the decision not to execute Yoohyeon, who in turn makes the decision to stab JiU in the back and kill her. Scenes of the six girls appearing and disappearing alongside Yoohyeon, show her eventually left alone and lonely, sat atop a throne left in ruins. It’s also interesting to note that some of the choreography shots showing all seven members are set in a brightly lit room, with all of girls dressed in white, something we don’t often see with this group. The medieval themes and darker lighting used during the depictions of JiU and Yoohyeon’s struggle add another layer to the song. “Deja Vu” has a lot of different creative elements that the group hasn’t used before, but it’s executed in an astounding way.
Its like JiU is the keeper of Yoohyeon holding her in check due to Yoohyeon past sins. But finally letting go but JiU was unaware that the darkness had returned to Yoohyeon to exact revenge on JiU for her betrayal in You and I.

If you have not watched these yet and you wish to remain spoiler free, do not read any further. - Spoilers begin here - I'm going to try avoid going too deep down the theory crafting rabbit hole here. Otherwise I might just end up typing a novel length comment. I don't see what happened in You and I as a betrayal. It was more of a failure on JiU's part. By this time in the story JiU has removed the curse from the rest of the members but Yoohyeon's curse was a tougher nut to crack. A lot of people think Yoohyeon killing the spider triggered the curse but if you pay attention during the Fly High video things start going wrong before she killed the spider. My theory is that the curse was triggered when JiU captured the spider. Yoohyeon made herself the primary target when she killed the spider. You could say that the power behind the curse had a personal grudge, a vendetta against Yoohyeon because she killed the spider. In the You and I MV we see JiU exorcise the curse from Yoohyeon, depicted by the black smoke leaving her body during the ritual. Later the curse, in the form of the old lady, comes back to reclaim Yoohyeon. We see this as the shadow of the spider on the wall during the photography scene and the smoke re-entering her body shortly after. This, to me, is not a betrayal on JiU's part. She actually succeeded in removing the curse from Yoohyeon. It was the old lady that pulled her back into the curse. Well, anyway, that's the way I look at it. Of course your theories may differ. That's the beauty of all this. Dreamcatcher purposefully left most of the finer details vague so that we could come up with our won stories, based on our own theories. What I'm saying is that you're not wrong. For the most part there really is no 'wrong' answer. It's just that your theory doesn't match mine.
When JiU covers Yoohyeon eyes after the ritual shows deceit. Yoohyeon running toward the portal trying to get through before it closes also show that it was not a choice for her to be there. But of course many people have many different opinions and theories and DC invites us to interpret things the way way want. So this is just my opinion.@@keithcraig506

The Legendary Dreamcatcher are vocalists that are so rare , To be able to sing with real emotion and depth from the heart ♥, i have no words , Just Tears 😭
This is a collab with the Kings Raid mobile game. I believe the MV is sort of connecting to the lore of that game. I haven’t played it though. In the MV, yoohyeon, jiu and the other members are friends. JiU is the ruler, but Yoohyeon becomes taken over by a darkness. And this darkness makes her become paranoid. The darkness makes her think that JiU betrayed her and causes the other members to leave be it by exile or locked up. We have two POVs that come into play- one is the real events that are JiU’s POV with JiU as the good guy (pink dress) and Yoohyeon as the betraying (black); and the second is Yoohyeon’s pov where she sees herself as the good (white) and JiU the betraying (black). Yoohyeon kills JiU and thus has the throne, but realizes that she is now all alone. Hence Yoohyeon is now reliving the Deja Vu of the good memories she use to have but doesn’t because all the other members left and JiU is dead. This song should have been the first win.
Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu.
The "this is" series is a great guide for each member it has videos for 2020,21,22,and 23. The user insomicsy makes them, they have loads of great videos. Dance practices are great to watch too to see how in sync they all are. The relay dances are really good as well, they are super well thought out and choreographed. Thanks again for doing DC and I hope you really enjoy all their music and the girls personalities!
I really recommend you to check out their dance practice along the MVs. they are incredible dancers that go hard and their synchronization is on point. and if you ever can, live performances are great to watch as well since they dance hard and sing live incredibly well, though most likely they'll get blocked if you'd post reactions of them on youtube 🙈
I love when people react to this song, or any DC songs tbf, like thisss cause it's exactly how I felt and acted when I first heard it to. I was just in such awe. When people react any less I'm like hOW, they're just so amazing and music is phenomenal every time

I used the "Ultimate 2021/2022 Guide to Dreamcatcher" when I first started my journey, but it's a little out of date now - 2022 was a big year for Dreamcatcher and it stops short of that but still gives a good focus on the individual members and their personalities and still holds up, though at this point I would recommend "An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023" by Dreamer.
Im in the process of binging all of your DC videos because I *love* watching new InSomnia find them, but I am laughing so hard at the slide into 'final thoughts' and just SILENCE for five seconds. lol I so understand, they did, and do that to me all the time. ALL THE TIME. Man, I cannot *WAIT* for you guys to get to the besides and see Red Sun. Ungh it may well kill you. OR their Abaracadabara relay dance, oh my word sapphics dying everywhere THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. (Abaracadabara being one of the more well known and famous Gen 2 songs by Brown Eyed Girls when they suddenly busted out the concept of women being adults and sexy, to the point the dance is well known and called the 'Arrogance Dance' and its just crossed arms and swaying hips, but it rocked the world of Kpop. Brown Eyed Girls are still around, too, proving that women in kpop can still make badass music in their 30s and 40s)
I highly recommend "Dodging Disbandment and other extreme sports: A history of Dreamcatcher" by Mera. Yes, it's an older guide, but it really outlines the very convoluted story of Dreamcatcher, their struggles, and why they are so special. It's not just a guide, but a story that grabs you and doesn't let go until the end, this one talks about the group as a whole. I recommend watching this one first, and then watching the more recent ones, while good, don't really tell the story as effectively or as entertaining.
After the guide people are already recommending, i'd suggest you two watch dodging disbandment and other extreme sports a history of dreamcatcher. Its a video explaining their career up untill deja vu, but its very helpful to understand where they were, why arent they super mainstream, and all that. I love watching people react to it tho so i might be biased here lol
Yes, Mera did an AMAZING job with that video! I think I asked her how long it took to compile. My comment is buried somewhere so it may be difficult to find. My memory is crap so I can't even remember if she ever got back to me about that. It may have taken weeks to get all of that pulled together. It was definitely a labor of love, you can tell she really enjoyed putting that one together. She has a wicked sense of humor. :)
I know a lot of people are saying the 2021/2022 guide, but I would like to instead suggest An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023 by Dreamer. It is just as extensive, but a lot more recent. For some reason it hasn't gained much attention and many Insomnias don't know of its existence. I like the clips used to show of the members' abilities a lot better in the 2023 one. I think you see a bit more of what they can do.
It's sad that there's not a great new guide, I personally also recommend the old one. And I think for the same reason as the others, it's just not that good :( (again I'm apparently not alone, it's not as popular for a reason). The old one could use some cutting down, but it's still a lot cuter and more organised (I haven't watched the new one in a long time but I still remember that I didn't like it).
I've now seen the error of my ways lol i FINALLY watched the Extensive 2023 guide and it's definitely just as good as the other one and up to date so I'll recommend it from now on
And that's why it's bad when Handong isn't here. It's been over 4 years and there are still Holding this pain comments whenever something goes wrong for a member. 3 years after this song, Dreamcatcher finally got their first win on a music show, thanked their people etc., and just when Handong was about to say something in Mandarin the show started playing the music for the live performance and she didn't get to say anything in that special moment. Handong still holding this pain. Don't worry, the got their second win on a music show the next day and made sure Handong got to say something then.
Great reaction. Their choreography is amazing. Unfortunately a lot of the intricate details of the Choreography are lost in the "Dance Performance" videos, due to the camera zooming in and panning around. If you truly want to see all the details of the choreography, you might want to check out the "Dance Practice" videos. They are filmed in a fixed center position, which helps to see the whole performance in it's full glory. I have been an insomnia since their debut, and I'm still in awe of the synchronicity and details they include in their performances. OT7 🤘😊👍

She nailed the song with the 'holding this pain' part and I friggin' CRIED when she ended up stuck in China during Covid and missed their Scream and Boca comebacks. I bawled when I saw her again in the Odd Eye comeback lol.
It's honestly one of the best K-pop-songs period. Even tho it's not completely a K-pop-song. You once asked how can one choose a favorite song. That's how. I love many Dreamcatcher songs, but honestly, Deja Vu is such a masterpiece, it's just can't be compared for me.

The Nightmare series consist of 6 videos (Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High, You and I, What, Piri). Storywise, keep in mind that Fly High is a prequel. Nevertheless you got to watch the videos in order of release.😊
People like to include the Japanese release Breaking Out in the Nightmare Series. It's looked on as an alternate ending to the story. I'm not sure if this is the case here or they just misspoke. 🙂

Have you checked out An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023 yet? Might want to check it out it's pretty good and updated and informative like the 2021/2022 guide. Until we wait for the updated guide by Dreamworld, I suggest this guide as the default guide for now.
I never took kpop seriously before deja vu :) It was my entry to kpop and to Dreamcatcher. It was love at first listen. I will love Dreamcatcher till the end of time. Also it was kings raid and this collab that introduced me to them and i will love kings for it.
It is their best song and their best MV, literally one of the best kpop MVs of all time. The storyline is so intriguing and unique in kpop, plus the visuals are also stunning. Also no, they aren't betraying each other. Yoohyeon (dark hair) betrays and kills Jiu (blonde hair) and steals her throne, she kills the rest of the members too, it's why she is alone. If you noticed at the last chorus, Siyeon dances while moving her arm across her body like she is being stabbed (Dami holds her arm too, like she's stabbing her), the other members do the same, which links to the meaning of the MV and what Yoohyeon did to them.
Ok so in the first scene in which jiu (blond) confronts yoohyeon (blue hair), jiu is dressed in dark colors as if she is the bad guy while pointing her sword toward yoohyeon. Yoohyeon on the other hand is wearing all white and she's being looked down on as if she were the victim. But what caught my attention is that even though jiu's body looks like is in the shadows, the background is filled with light; the same in reverse happens with yoohyeon, her body is full of light but the scenery behind her is dark. So my theory is that they had some type of conflict, and yoohyeon did smth really bad but she didn't think it was her fault (or maybe she thought she was in the right). So for yoohyeon Jiu's retaliation was like a betrayal, and that first scene is from the point of view of yoohyeon. Then in the second scene when jiu is confronting yoohyeon, she is in a light pink dress and her body is in the light, while yoohyeon is in the dark with a black outfit. Also, yoohyeon doesn't look like a victim, she looks like she's either bowing towards jiu or accepting jiu's authority (like a knight swearing loyalty). Then jiu's seems to forgive her and desist on punishing her. But when jiu threw the sword, yoohyeon betrayed her. The scenes with the coffin seem to show how the other girls were on jiu's side and they are mourning her, that's why, in the end, yoohyeon ends up having the power and the throne but everyone has abandoned her. Also, following her acting and the lyrics of the song, it seems to be something she deeply regrets. Fun detail: in the choreography there are many instances of canon movements as if they were representing a deja vu
I love all of Dreamcatcher songs but this one right here, my numero UNO, my number 1. The instrumentals are especially blew me away. The lyrics are a mix of happy and sad moments. The storyline from the King's Raid game is there with the lyrics, albeit with minor adjustment. If you react to the animation version of this song, you will know what i mean.
Oldies but goldies. It's been over 4 years since "Deja vu" was released and for me it's still an unrivaled masterpiece - not just in K-Pop. Thank you very much for your reaction.

Deja vu is the first MV since Dreamcatcher got other’s budget. If you followed Dreamcatcher from the beginning, you would notice the MV quality was is updated from Deja vu.
Deja vu is a total package masterpiece.... The outfits, music, vocals, MV, dance, concept, performance, storyline... Also, glad that you both realise the start and end of thr choreo are the same (well, it's in reverse order) Point to note, the really good guides contain lots and lots of spoilers, especially the most popular suggested one.
For me Deja Vu always represents a story from 2 pov. One is from yooyheon's side, the other is from Jiu's perspective..one is lyrics,.. and one is the MV and for me its always a great reprentation of german saying. "you are walking over corpses" meaning, To do anything without any thought about the consequences to reach your goal. and yooyhen sits on top of the throne, the room destroyed... and is alone..

Handong doesn't get many lines in the song but her "holding this pain" verse is the most iconic part that is instantly recognizable and unforgettable. She also has that distinction in the song Reason, whenever you get to it, that is the most emotional (no spoiler).

The “Ultimate Guide” that people are recommending is the classic one, the only issue is that it’s missing 2022 which was a huge year for Dreamcatcher. If you want the newest, “An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023” is also a well-made option! Up to you, both guides do a great job of introducing the members. I do also second my fellow Somnies’ recommendation of the “This Is…” series by our amazing fan editor insomnicsy. Can’t wait to see you guys continue to fall in love with Deukae!!! There’s truly no other group like them (and I listen to a LOT of music from all over the world). They’re just special. Personally I wouldn’t worry too much about spoilers in the guides since it’ll all be thrown at you at once and I for one wouldn’t be able to remember everything but you could also just skip the title track clips at the beginning where they introduce the concepts.

Honestly we've done a few guides for other groups and you're right about not remembering spoilers 😭 It's always a good stepping stone in learning about a group but unless we sit down and watch the guide several times over we don't remember a lot of the finer details that are thrown our way. For context, Deja Vu is a collaboration with a fantasy based mobile game and the game story centered around themes of faith, sacrifice, corruption and betrayal (a very simplified explanation of the game more complex plot). In the MV, it is their take on the game story themes and the use of the meaning of Deja Vu (i.e. the feeling that you have already experienced something, even when in reality you never have) to tell the story. Basically, there are two main character which the antagonist is shown at the start of the MV, and she converts the protagonist's throne (shown by the darkness enveloping her when she sat on the throne). The usage of Deja Vu is through the various reversed scenes, for example, the first and second sword scene where in the first (representing a fake memory i.e. Deja Vu), the antagonist see herself as the "victim" in a normal dress with the protagonist is in black pointing the sword at her and in the second sword scene (representing reality), where the protagonist is in the pretty dress and the antagonist is in black, the opposite happen and the antagonist backstab the protagonist instead, and getting rid the rest of the group members with her only remaining on the throne (scenes of the members circling her accusingly, the judas like supper table, all the members falling at the end etc. hinting of the literal backstab and betrayal) . Other examples of the false memory and reality switching about are the scenes which alternate the protagonist/antangosit in the coffin with the other pointing the sword towards it.

Deja Vu is a bit of a fan favorite; I don't stand in that group, lol. It's more of a matter of personal taste, their more intense tracks instrumentally are more my speed. That being said, I am not ashamed to admit that this is a BEAUTIFUL song. It really showcases what they are capable vocally, and the composers put their all into it, I can tell. @JaeMinJung more or less nailed with their suggestions, but there is another that I would also suggest. With the Dance Video vs Dance Practice Video I normally prefer the practice vids because they're generally a stationary camera shot so you can see the full choreo, but it's all up to preference! If people haven't suggested, after the nightmare series, can you guys do R.o.S.E Blue? That song is super underrated and also has an interesting story and was another game collaboration (Girl Cafe Gun). And if you like their choreos, their nightmare series songs have some of the coolest choreo ever, in all of kpop! The nightmare series has a story as well, so you guys are in for a ride! Ah, Deja Vu. Sometimes it's the bait that lures people in, sometimes it's the hook that solidifies you as a fan forever. The line "And now, holding this pain" is one of the most famous of Dreamcatcher lyrics and what a way to be introduced to HanDong. She was missing in two of the last 3 videos you watched (Scream and Boca), but that is a story line all of it's own. I'm glad you chose to pair this with a dance video. Some much of the choreography is lost in the MV's that you don't get to appreciate half the talent these girls have. I hope you'll continue pairing the dance video with the MV's. There are many guides to choose from, but most of them will contain MV clips or bits of songs you haven't heard yet. If you want a basic introduction to the members, I suggest the video from Insomnicsy. She is the most prolific Dreamcatcher content creator and the (un)official president of the fan club. Deja Vu are literally false memories. Yoohyeon, possessed by darkness, betrayed Jiu the rightful Queen and led a revolt against her. She lost, but Jiu spared her life because of the friendship they once had. Yoohyeon then proceeded to kill her and created a lot of false memories to justify what she had done. Mainly that Jiu betrayed and tried to kill her. Yoohyeon is sitting on the throne at the end, lost in those fake memories. The realm is in ruins and she has either killed, imprisoned, or exiled all the court ladies who had once been her friends. She is quite mad.

The music video is no joke either. Clearly presenting a tragic story, the video depicts the seven members as rulers of a kingdom, with a struggle for power breaking out between JiU and Yoohyeon. The scenes between the two facing off are particularly powerful, with JiU pointing the end of a rapier at Yoohyeon, in control of her fate. She makes the decision not to execute Yoohyeon, who in turn makes the decision to stab JiU in the back and kill her. Scenes of the six girls appearing and disappearing alongside Yoohyeon, show her eventually left alone and lonely, sat atop a throne left in ruins. It’s also interesting to note that some of the choreography shots showing all seven members are set in a brightly lit room, with all of girls dressed in white, something we don’t often see with this group. The medieval themes and darker lighting used during the depictions of JiU and Yoohyeon’s struggle add another layer to the song. “Deja Vu” has a lot of different creative elements that the group hasn’t used before, but it’s executed in an astounding way.

I'm going to try avoid going too deep down the theory crafting rabbit hole here. Otherwise I might just end up typing a novel length comment.
I don't see what happened in You and I as a betrayal. It was more of a failure on JiU's part. By this time in the story JiU has removed the curse from the rest of the members but Yoohyeon's curse was a tougher nut to crack.
A lot of people think Yoohyeon killing the spider triggered the curse but if you pay attention during the Fly High video things start going wrong before she killed the spider. My theory is that the curse was triggered when JiU captured the spider. Yoohyeon made herself the primary target when she killed the spider. You could say that the power behind the curse had a personal grudge, a vendetta against Yoohyeon because she killed the spider.
In the You and I MV we see JiU exorcise the curse from Yoohyeon, depicted by the black smoke leaving her body during the ritual. Later the curse, in the form of the old lady, comes back to reclaim Yoohyeon. We see this as the shadow of the spider on the wall during the photography scene and the smoke re-entering her body shortly after.
This, to me, is not a betrayal on JiU's part. She actually succeeded in removing the curse from Yoohyeon. It was the old lady that pulled her back into the curse.
Well, anyway, that's the way I look at it. Of course your theories may differ. That's the beauty of all this. Dreamcatcher purposefully left most of the finer details vague so that we could come up with our won stories, based on our own theories.
What I'm saying is that you're not wrong. For the most part there really is no 'wrong' answer. It's just that your theory doesn't match mine.
When JiU covers Yoohyeon eyes after the ritual shows deceit. Yoohyeon running toward the portal trying to get through before it closes also show that it was not a choice for her to be there. But of course many people have many different opinions and theories and DC invites us to interpret things the way way want. So this is just my opinion.@@keithcraig506

This is a collab with the Kings Raid mobile game. I believe the MV is sort of connecting to the lore of that game. I haven’t played it though.
In the MV, yoohyeon, jiu and the other members are friends. JiU is the ruler, but Yoohyeon becomes taken over by a darkness. And this darkness makes her become paranoid. The darkness makes her think that JiU betrayed her and causes the other members to leave be it by exile or locked up. We have two POVs that come into play- one is the real events that are JiU’s POV with JiU as the good guy (pink dress) and Yoohyeon as the betraying (black); and the second is Yoohyeon’s pov where she sees herself as the good (white) and JiU the betraying (black). Yoohyeon kills JiU and thus has the throne, but realizes that she is now all alone. Hence Yoohyeon is now reliving the Deja Vu of the good memories she use to have but doesn’t because all the other members left and JiU is dead. This song should have been the first win.

Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu.
The "this is" series is a great guide for each member it has videos for 2020,21,22,and 23. The user insomicsy makes them, they have loads of great videos.
Dance practices are great to watch too to see how in sync they all are. The relay dances are really good as well, they are super well thought out and choreographed.

I used the "Ultimate 2021/2022 Guide to Dreamcatcher" when I first started my journey, but it's a little out of date now - 2022 was a big year for Dreamcatcher and it stops short of that but still gives a good focus on the individual members and their personalities and still holds up, though at this point I would recommend "An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023" by Dreamer.

Im in the process of binging all of your DC videos because I *love* watching new InSomnia find them, but I am laughing so hard at the slide into 'final thoughts' and just SILENCE for five seconds. lol I so understand, they did, and do that to me all the time. ALL THE TIME. Man, I cannot *WAIT* for you guys to get to the besides and see Red Sun. Ungh it may well kill you. OR their Abaracadabara relay dance, oh my word sapphics dying everywhere THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. I highly recommend "Dodging Disbandment and other extreme sports: A history of Dreamcatcher" by Mera. Yes, it's an older guide, but it really outlines the very convoluted story of Dreamcatcher, their struggles, and why they are so special. It's not just a guide, but a story that grabs you and doesn't let go until the end, this one talks about the group as a whole. I recommend watching this one first, and then watching the more recent ones, while good, don't really tell the story as effectively or as entertaining.

My memory is crap so I can't even remember if she ever got back to me about that. It may have taken weeks to get all of that pulled together. I know a lot of people are saying the 2021/2022 guide, but I would like to instead suggest An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023 by Dreamer. It is just as extensive, but a lot more recent. For some reason it hasn't gained much attention and many Insomnias don't know of its existence. I like the clips used to show of the members' abilities a lot better in the 2023 one. I think you see a bit more of what they can do.
It's sad that there's not a great new guide, I personally also recommend the old one. And I think for the same reason as the others, it's just not that good :( (again I'm apparently not alone, it's not as popular for a reason). The old one could use some cutting down, but it's still a lot cuter and more organised (I haven't watched the new one in a long time but I still remember that I didn't like it).
I've now seen the error of my ways lol i FINALLY watched the Extensive 2023 guide and it's definitely just as good as the other one and up to date so I'll recommend it from now on
And that's why it's bad when Handong isn't here. It's been over 4 years and there are still Holding this pain comments whenever something goes wrong for a member. 3 years after this song, Dreamcatcher finally got their first win on a music show, thanked their people etc., and just when Handong was about to say something in Mandarin the show started playing the music for the live performance and she didn't get to say anything in that special moment. Handong still holding this pain.

Their choreography is amazing. Unfortunately a lot of the intricate details of the Choreography are lost in the "Dance Performance" videos, due to the camera zooming in and panning around.
If you truly want to see all the details of the choreography, you might want to check out the "Dance Practice" videos. They are filmed in a fixed center position, which helps to see the whole performance in it's full glory.
I have been an insomnia since their debut, and I'm still in awe of the synchronicity and details they include in their performances.

It is their best song and their best MV, literally one of the best kpop MVs of all time. The storyline is so intriguing and unique in kpop, plus the visuals are also stunning. Also no, they aren't betraying each other. Yoohyeon (dark hair) betrays and kills Jiu (blonde hair) and steals her throne, she kills the rest of the members too, it's why she is alone. If you noticed at the last chorus, Siyeon dances while moving her arm across her body like she is being stabbed (Dami holds her arm too, like she's stabbing her), the other members do the same, which links to the meaning of the MV and what Yoohyeon did to them.
Ok so in the first scene in which jiu (blond) confronts yoohyeon (blue hair), jiu is dressed in dark colors as if she is the bad guy while pointing her sword toward yoohyeon. Yoohyeon on the other hand is wearing all white and she's being looked down on as if she were the victim. But what caught my attention is that even though jiu's body looks like is in the shadows, the background is filled with light; the same in reverse happens with yoohyeon, her body is full of light but the scenery behind her is dark. So my theory is that they had some type of conflict, and yoohyeon did smth really bad but she didn't think it was her fault (or maybe she thought she was in the right). So for yoohyeon Jiu's retaliation was like a betrayal, and that first scene is from the point of view of yoohyeon. Then in the second scene when jiu is confronting yoohyeon, she is in a light pink dress and her body is in the light, while yoohyeon is in the dark with a black outfit. Also, yoohyeon doesn't look like a victim, she looks like she's either bowing towards jiu or accepting jiu's authority (like a knight swearing loyalty). Then jiu's seems to forgive her and desist on punishing her. But when jiu threw the sword, yoohyeon betrayed her. The scenes with the coffin seem to show how the other girls were on jiu's side and they are mourning her, that's why, in the end, yoohyeon ends up having the power and the throne but everyone has abandoned her. Also, following her acting and the lyrics of the song, it seems to be something she deeply regrets.
Fun detail: in the choreography there are many instances of canon movements as if they were representing a deja vu
I love all of Dreamcatcher songs but this one right here, my numero UNO, my number 1. The instrumentals are especially blew me away. The lyrics are a mix of happy and sad moments.
The storyline from the King's Raid game is there with the lyrics, albeit with minor adjustment. If you react to the animation version of this song, you will know what i mean.
Oldies but goldies. It's been over 4 years since "Deja vu" was released and for me it's still an unrivaled masterpiece - not just in K-Pop.

Point to note, the really good guides contain lots and lots of spoilers, especially the most popular suggested one.
For me Deja Vu always represents a story from 2 pov. One is from yooyheon's side, the other is from Jiu's perspective..one is lyrics,.. and one is the MV
and for me its always a great reprentation of german saying. "you are walking over corpses" meaning, To do anything without any thought about the consequences to reach your goal.
and yooyhen sits on top of the throne, the room destroyed... and is alone..

I do also second my fellow Somnies’ recommendation of the “This Is…” series by our amazing fan editor insomnicsy. Can’t wait to see you guys continue to fall in love with Deukae!!! There’s truly no other group like them (and I listen to a LOT of music from all over the world). They’re just special.
Personally I wouldn’t worry too much about spoilers in the guides since it’ll all be thrown at you at once and I for one wouldn’t be able to remember everything but you could also just skip the title track clips at the beginning where they introduce the concepts.

For context, Deja Vu is a collaboration with a fantasy based mobile game and the game story centered around themes of faith, sacrifice, corruption and betrayal (a very simplified explanation of the game more complex plot).
In the MV, it is their take on the game story themes and the use of the meaning of Deja Vu (i.e. the feeling that you have already experienced something, even when in reality you never have) to tell the story. Basically, there are two main character which the antagonist is shown at the start of the MV, and she converts the protagonist's throne (shown by the darkness enveloping her when she sat on the throne).
The usage of Deja Vu is through the various reversed scenes, for example, the first and second sword scene where in the first (representing a fake memory i.e. Deja Vu), the antagonist see herself as the "victim" in a normal dress with the protagonist is in black pointing the sword at her and in the second sword scene (representing reality), where the protagonist is in the pretty dress and the antagonist is in black, the opposite happen and the antagonist backstab the protagonist instead, and getting rid the rest of the group members with her only remaining on the throne (scenes of the members circling her accusingly, the judas like supper table, all the members falling at the end etc. hinting of the literal backstab and betrayal) . Other examples of the false memory and reality switching about are the scenes which alternate the protagonist/antangosit in the coffin with the other pointing the sword towards it.

Deja Vu is a bit of a fan favorite; I don't stand in that group, lol. It's more of a matter of personal taste, their more intense tracks instrumentally are more my speed. That being said, I am not ashamed to admit that this is a BEAUTIFUL song. It really showcases what they are capable vocally, and the composers put their all into it, I can tell. @JaeMinJung more or less nailed with their suggestions, but there is another that I would also suggest. It is an older video, but it is a history lesson in this group and how they came to be. It is called 'Dodging Disbandment and other Extreme Sports: A History to Dreamcatcher.' The channel is Mera.

With the Dance Video vs Dance Practice Video I normally prefer the practice vids because they're generally a stationary camera shot so you can see the full choreo, but it's all up to preference! Just found your Dreamcatcher reactions and I really appreciate how you guys are so in depth with your analyses. I'm definitely going to keep watching future videos. If people haven't suggested, after the nightmare series, can you guys do R.o.S.E Blue? That song is super underrated and also has an interesting story and was another game collaboration (Girl Cafe Gun). And if you like their choreos, their nightmare series songs have some of the coolest choreo ever, in all of kpop! The nightmare series has a story as well, so you guys are in for a ride! Ah, Deja Vu. Sometimes it's the bait that lures people in, sometimes it's the hook that solidifies you as a fan forever. The line "And now, holding this pain" is one of the most famous of Dreamcatcher lyrics and what a way to be introduced to HanDong. She was missing in two of the last 3 videos you watched (Scream and Boca), but that is a story line all of it's own. I'm glad you chose to pair this with a dance video. Some much of the choreography is lost in the MV's that you don't get to appreciate half the talent these girls have. I hope you'll continue pairing the dance video with the MV's.
