Loving this GSXR series, it applies to any Japanese sportsbike really, but classic Gixxers are great bikes to fettle 👍🙂👍
Good work on the install👍 Always lots of fun when your in the shop with Mavis😂 Wow, looking and sounding really on the track there!👏 Yes lots more of that please.
I had a Translogic shifter on my Busa for about 10 years, brilliant bit of kit👌🏽👍🏽
Fitted the same shifter on my l6 750 after watching your install an the CBR. coupled with a tune an full system👌🏻 faultlessly shifts so smoothly an transformed the bike. Just the job chops 👍
Donington is a great track (apart from the nose adverse locals who moved/built there because house/land prices were cheap due to close location to the track)… Red Gate is awesome, you just keep getting braver and braver, quicker and quicker throwing it in, just be careful the next corner tightens up and is the limit for red gate. 👍
It's crazy with the noise limits there - illustrated by the fact that every 10 minutes a jet full of holidaymakers screams over your head at 827,000 db. Did see a Spitfire once though.
Yeah really annoying isn't it!
Love this type of garage/ track series very informative an Donnington is a great track did it with the Ron Haslam track day. I'm glad to see Mavis is keeping g u on your toes to 😆 keep up the great work.
I bought a TL QS for my BB R1 after watching your review on the Blade…..it replaced an HM that just didn’t work on the bike,
I added a blipper after - excellent setup that I can’t fault, never missed a gear either up or down 😉
After researching until my brain was softer than it already was I pulled the trigger on a Translogic quickshifter for my 12 zx10r today. Super excited to try it at especially at a track day. Lot of good information in this video. Thanks 😊
Nice work!
I'm in the same boat between this and the Annitori. What website did you buy it from? How did it turn out for you?
Awesome. Works really nice. Absolutely love Donington, some great corners and places to wind it up..
Just fitted one of these Translogic Quickshifters to my GSXS1000 after your recommendations compared to all the other QS’s on the market Chopsy… Glad I took your advice! Not the easiest thing to fit but what a brilliant piece of kit… Absolutely seamless changes from midrange upwards! 👌🏻
Solid performance on track chopsy, that engine sounds so sweet.
You are the Best Video Maker ever!
Thanks
Why thankyou Jeff 😁
Love your Suzuki, can't believe how in good nick it is. Definitely a keeper 👍
Thanks Spec 👍
Glad you're back getting the gsxr bit's on,, and looking forward to seeing more of the videos on it,, aswell as the tests and the VIP stuff ☘️😃😃☘️ from northern Ireland 😁😁
Thanks Cecil 👍
Not into sports bikes at all , but loving all the mods you are putting on this old girl , you will have to go head to head with a new gsxr see how she does , great vid chops
3 things I love. This video had them all, 1) Chops Garage Time Projects 2) Mavis 🤣 3) Gixxers 🔝🎥🎬🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Haha thanks Mike 👍
Mavis always drops you in it doesn't she lol 😂
Highly informative Mr chops fantastic video as always 👍
All the best to you
Thanks Michael 👍 😊
When I started riding a few years ago, there was no way I would have considered sports bikes, thos series has helped changed my mind on this, especially the older bikes, which look fun to wrench on.
Good to hear Milo 👍
Very interesting vid Chops, this turning out to be a very entertaining updat/build. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks buddy 👍
There's a side business in those skills, for sure! impressed
Very nice! I have one of these to install on my K4 750 - hope it goes as easy as yours!!
Good riding at the end Chops , GSXR smooth .
Thanks Victor 👍
What can I say Chops......bloody awesome going mate 👍
Thus series realy has me thinking of getting another gixxer haha thanks choppsie
Enjoy your garage vids Chops! Donington my local circuit although I’ve never done a track day. May have to take the XR! 👍
Looks like you fitted the rosso corsa 4s, I used them on Tuesday at Cadwell , the hottest day of the year & they were superb
👊✊️✊️
Yes exactly that, yes they were very good at Donnington 👍
Make sure you've got the correct connector plugged into the sensor for either push or pull operation. Great pieces of kit. Had one on my K4 1000 track bike for around 4 years now 👌
Yes good point, forgot to mention that didn't I!
@@LambChopRides I only mentioned it as when I changed to 'race shift', I wondered why the QS wasn't working 😆 yes, I forgot to change the connectors around! 🙈
Was good to see you at Donington, didn’t get to say hello but gave you a couple of nods now and then! 😂
I was on a KTM Duke 890, was a great day!
Hi LK, was a great day! Should have said hello, was you in inters as remember a 890 Duke in my session?
@@LambChopRides yep, little short arse bloke! In garage with Jim from Pirelli and Rutter
Love the mods Chops 👍 just to let you know dropped off my Ducati wheel to Adam at A1 powder coatings today 😁
OK good stuff Sean 👍
Great vid, very interesting. Amazing how little you have to do to an "old" bike to get it up to speed, literally.
Interesting video Way way over my head If I wanted one fitted into the garage it would be going 😀 👍
You know what your doing chopsy.
I dont think I would have a go at that 🤠
Amazing video! And fair play to you to for fitting the quick shifter yourself as it doesn't look easy at all!! Quick question, where did you get the brake lever guard? Thanks mate
Its an R&G lever gaurd 👍
Good video Lamb Chop
I think Mavis got slighted when you rolled the intro, you know how she likes to do it!😀🍻
Haha oh yes 😆
Those red spacers are to cover excess thread but I'd take one them off and put a nut in place and tighten it all down. As you've got it the gear lever side isn't locked off.
YEEE HAAAAA!
Loved the onboard camera view, just needs a Blipper now, love this model Gixer just too painful to ride.
Morning LCR, we enjoyed that one! As I understand it (not first hand information) you can do damage to a gearbox if you retro fit a quick shifter and don't have the timing right! ie you can brake you gearbox! What have you heard? 🏍💨💨💨
Thanks Murt 👍 Yes absolutely right, you can tell if it's shifting smoothly and this system is better than some oem system I've tried.
Brilliant, Love the onboard vid 😎
Has the gixer got a slipper clutch ?
Sounds like it could do with one 👍
Yeah think it has... probably not the best system ever. Tried a K1 last month on track and could tell that certainly didn't!
@@LambChopRides Those were the days , GSXR1100M was my last suzuki and that was seriously scary banging it down the box .. Saw the video from Cadwell , Loved the 2 smokers 👍😎
No wonder Chopsy loves auto blippers🤣
Hey Chops are you going to put on that quick throttle like you said you were and if yes are you going to show how to do it ?
Great vid chops.....i heard you left cat on for the trackday. Once de-catted will it be too loud for most UK trackdays??
Reason i ask as I'm Looking at buying a k7 already de-catted with the arrows fitted for a potential track bike.
Thanks Mike
Loving all the vids but as I have same bike, yes asking for advice again 😂
So the quick shifter is awesome as you said but can you have a blipper fitted on these beauties or not 😢
Booking mine in for dyno and ecu flash instead of PC mods.
Really nice brake set up chops, hope you get the move sorted out its been ongoing a while. Also what’s happened to the hypermotard? Have I missed something ?
Will be back in the Autumn 👍
Hopefully you or others could help. The blue 2 stickers on top of tank I had to take off as I scratched one (paint all ok).
Do you or anyone know where to get as can’t find 🤦♂️👍
Donny is awesome and a great vid as always Chopsy 👋😉👍
Good video LC
I’m still keen to learn about your fitment and experience of the Heal Tech TRE, if that’s still planned?
Best wishes
Hi Ian, I fitted it and can't really notice any difference... its very subtle if there is any difference
@@LambChopRides Hi LC, thanks for letting me know; that’s what I thought.
I fitted a generic TRE to an early ZX10R and perhaps I incorrectly installed it but it seemed to then run poorly.
More recently I fitted the HT gear indicator and TRE to my GSXR 1000 K2 and I think it may have improved throttle response.
The gear indicator is great though.
I’m looking forward to more sports bikes vids where possible, especially RG500, 90’s and early 00’s machines as I’m old and stuck in this time warp.
Best wishes
Love the mods. I have a K7 and want to swap my calipers to Brembo too, what year gsxr brembos are those?
They were L7 calipers, the latest gsxr 👍
Had one on my k7 and decided to shorten the cut off time, started jumping out of 2nd gear after a few months and finally imploded not shortly after.
I ordered the TL QS oem replacement , for my gsxr1000r L7+ , and it didnt work , the company said they had issues with it working on the newer models ,something to do with voltages,, and they gave me a refund . Just a suggestion The loose red spacers on your bike you could add a washer or 2 . 👍
👍
Just watched this as I’ve purchased a translogic for my k5. 👍
Do you prefer the Abba stand or your flat ramp in your garage build video?
Good stuff!! Ramp is brilliant if you want to do anything other than remove wheels. If its wheels off then ABBA Skylift 👍
Just installed the latest translogic on my speed triple shifts like a dream, having issues with the engine management light now though not dropping out. I’ve checked the QS module and the settings are all neutral, would it need a few heat cycles to sort its self out. Any tips? Cheers:)
I have one for my R6 since a month or so, its so smooth. Only thing for me is that it sometimes takes quite a bit of pressure to engage
The pressure is adjustable. You can turn it down.
@@dbtrackz33 yep, I have it set to the lowest setting at the moment. It's fine now but maybe something with the sensor
@@jesse68569 is the angle 90 degrees or slightly more bewteen where you clamp the shift rod to your shift drum and the shift rod? Sounds like it may be 1 tooth off and is binding ever so slightly causing you to need extra pressure. Always double check that you have enough thread screwed into the body of the shift rod + sensor and that it's all tight. Removing any slop and making this entire thing as right and wiggle free and possible will make it all work smoother and more consistent.
@@dbtrackz33thank you for the info man! I will check it again if I can improve the feel
@@jesse68569 I had similar issues and went thru what I described to lighten up the pressure considerably. Instead of using their rod and spacers and purchased a linger shift rod so the entire assembly would have less pieces and play. Huge difference. Good luck!
That the best way to sort out the brakes on a GSXR I hope you changed the Brake pads to something better than stock?
Yes pads changed too 👍
Any blipper suggestions for a 2016 Aprilia Tuono Factory?
Never mind mods to the Suzy Suzuki mate, what’s happening with the hypermotard or have I missed it chopsy?
Soon, soon 😁
👍👍
❤❤
How stiff is your throttle? My K8 is pretty stiff now and my cables look identical to yours (knackered) where they come out of the throttle housing. I'm going to install Venhill featherlight cables this week and see how much different they are.
It's actually pretty good! Cable snapped not long after the video and now replaced with new stock version. 100% better now 👍
@Chopsy - If you ever worried about it, don't. We all see/hear Mavis as well. You'll be relieved to know there isn't a Fight Club thing going on 😁👍
Haha thank goodness for that! 😅
Does fitting qa cause quicker wear to the gear box , I'm thinking about fitting one to my gsxr 600 which I don't use for track but want to do a track day with.
No providing its setup properly and shifts nicely. Obviously if its not smooth and your forcing it into gear its going to do damage. 👍
Wat made you go tanslogic? seeing as you were already going to fit the healtech logger why not go for the healtech shifter too?
The Translogic system is superior to the Healtech shifter IMO and I've used both before. Mainly due to the sensor on the Healtech being a little limited. Both work however but in my experience the Translogic offers a smoother shift
Did you order directly from Translogic? Can I just check is this the right one TLS-QSXi-HS-DCS?
Can you get a race shift mod? Click up is 1st, down is up through the gears. On the track it is much easier on a clockwise track.
Did you have any issues with the sensor rubbing the frame? Or the sensor hitting the lever? Having a mare with mine, it’s set up the same as yours apart from I haven’t sawed one of the little nodules. Basically it shifts perfectly apart from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th once I get above 7/8k rpm. Thinking it’s vibrations causing the sensor to hit the frame - considering rear sets now. Did you have any issues? Thanks
Use an extra washer so it keeps it apart from rubbing any parts
Do you know if it is possible to use the shifting rod and sensor in combination with a Healtech quickshifter?
I don't believe so...
Has the master cylinder tea cozy helped :D
3 seconds per lap 😆
3 seconds per lap 😆
Wow, didn't recognise the place, looks like a Spanish track!! Where has Britain's green and pleasant land gone? 😳
If it was green some developer would buy it and builds a rat-maze of tiny-but-still unaffordable houses.
Yeah looks like it doesn't it! Been a tad dry!
Boo the Ring a ding ding intro has gone Cmon Chopsy bring it back! 🤣🤣
It will be back don't worry 😉
Thanks for sharing Chops - a faff but worth it
Would you recommend a healtech on a gsxr1000 k1 (2001)
that's very interesting. Does it blib the throttle on downshift?
sorry I guess that's a stupid question when its not wired to the ECU. What I'm trying to ask is- do you apply a bit of power when you downshift?
I'm quite an inexperienced rider so curious to know.
Hi Chris, doesn't do anything on downshifts as the GSXR isn't ride by wire so cannot automatically blip the throttle bodies. 👍
Did the Brembo callipers fit straight on or was there mods to fit 🤔👍
Yes fit straight on but you have to remove the dowls, so important you centralise the calipers
@@LambChopRides thank you 🙏
Did you need to adjust the quickshifter settings or use it straight out of the box ?
Beauty of this QS is it works right out the box lovely 👍
So no need to adjust you did nothing ? Adjusters kept in the middle ? Nice
Judging from sound in your video, your quick shifter only works on up shift, but not down?
Yes unfortunately the GSXR isn't ride by wire so no motor to actuate the throttle bodies for downshifting
Why you don't revmatch when going down the gears?
I was, but obviously not going to rev match to 12k rpm on a blip. I was blipping on downshift
How does that bike feel to ride too a man of you build? I’m almost 6’ 3” and 17.5 stone. And thinking of getting a gsxr 1000.
Yeah feels great! I find it actually pretty comfortable 👍
@@LambChopRides I absolutely love sports bikes. And have tried relentlessly to talk myself out of them for the last two years (currently have a sports tourer). But I can’t get the urge for a gsxr1000 out of my head 😂
I wonder how much longer we can keep our combustion engines for
A very long time I would say
@@LambChopRides I would guess we have a few years max
I'm guessing that is not the right day to be colour blind. 😉
Very interesting video nonetheless.
One of the wires from the throttle seems to have an angle that is not recommended.
Wires from the throttle? Doesn't connect to the throttle? Do you mean my throttle cable? Yes it actually snapped right after this video!
@@LambChopRides
Yes, English is not my main language and didn't know any better way to explain it.🙂
Choosy, you should really take the time and tune the 5 zones. Specifically zone 5 which is at redline, when at WOT the default 66ms delay time is far too slow for most any bike. It’s extremely conservative. Zone 1-5 on my bike are as follows. 66, 64, 62, 60, 54. Play with it if you’re bored, it makes it an even better mod. The way it’s adjusted is the biggest downside to this excellent kit. Other QSs you can usually use an app.
How old is your unit? I was told by Translogic they have tuned the new units more for faster shifts. Doesn't do that flutter my old one did. Seems actually perfect to me
@@LambChopRides 2 years old. Look up the default shift times of your unit I'm curious what they set it to now if it's changed. Should be in the manual. Would be good info to know.
is it for sale
Does it go down?
No as the bike isn't ride by wire, no motors on the throttle body to actuate the blip
Chopsy, I have a new Healtech Quickshifter on my 03 R6, I cannot get on with it at all. Sometimes it will not shift up gears at Donington Park. I've tried adjusting sensor thresholds, times etc. How is the Translogic vs the Healtech? I spent more time wondering if it was going to shift than actually riding the bike. It's proper getting on my tits. Instead of being an asset, it's becoming a hindrance.
The Translogic is the better system but its more money. It has a far superior switch mechanism, oem manufactures use thier system its that good!
Use correct country diagram or you could screw your bike up.
Not so keen on voice over woman ! er in doors vibe
