When I was a young man working at a hardware store, bout 20 or so years ago, my manager was a 70 something year old woman who played really basic PC games. She was such a gamer at heart and really spunky, always giving me cigarettes so she could tell me about the newest game she was playing. I told her about Diablo 2 and recommended she grab the boxed set with expansion and she came back the next day without having slept. She was elated and wouldnt stop talking about how great Diablo 2 was, it almost became annoying but i was happy that she was so happy. I doubt she's still alive today, but she was probably Diablo 2's oldest fan when she died, im almost positive she played it every day until the day she died.
I don't play anymore, and you're one of the two dudes that never fail to lure me into watching Diablo 2 content (I'm sure anybody can find out who the other dude is ;) ). I love the non-elitist approach, the cheerfulness... Keep doing what you're doing man!
Imo the javazon and the hammerdin are the best starter chars. Both easy to slowly build up to elite. I personally like doing glacial runs with the javazon solo joining chaos baal runs and clearing as much as I can before the run is over. I know it its not a lvl 85 area but from my experiences it being a lvl 83 and so easy to clear with a mid built javazon it tends to lvl fast and drop well.
Good you mention frozen orb sorc. I use frozen orb on left click, and a high level static on right click. You can use static twice while orb is on cool down. Static helps your merc kill things that are cold immune. You can farm chaos easily as long as your merc has an elite quality insight to kill de seis
i find his way to play weird, also necro corpse explosion have max dmg level 1, just radius get larger so, why max this.... PUT IT SOMEWHERE ELSE... idk bone armor.... so silly -.-
@@blacklabel130 More monsters hit is more damage. Hit 10 monsters in a small pack for 100 damage = 1000 damage. Hit 40 monsters on the whole screen for 100 = 4000 damage.
In 2000 me and my friend played not knowing anything thinking rune words were out of reach and relying on the newly created arreat summit website to drool over uniques we would prob never fine. Diablo 2 offered some of the best LAN memories. Look forward to it again and using some low level rune words

Barb is just to gear dependent, sadly. An ungeared barb will heavily struggle to clear any hell content. An amazing geared character though! (magic find whirlwind is the shit!)

Last time I played was 2012 I believe, maybe 2013. I'm just going to wait for d2r at this point but am super stoked! I'm thinking druid.... though the new sorcereress skills look great. My favorite used to be necro but I should go something else right? Lol who know!
@@Lukeoni Sorc. For sure. If nothing else, getting high level and rushing for soulstones (thru nm) can put you way ahead. Edit: the meph cheese in hell can get your entire character list half geared in no time.
I’ve always had a soft spot for chargeadins. It’s so easy to find high base damage weapons to rapidly increase your damage output and they’re very very fast around maps without significant speed gear. They can also stun lock troublesome baddies on the first run-through.
Great guide and good to know that it's not just the two builds done to death by other videos (hammerdin and cold sorc). I'm very tempted to do either the wind druid or trapsin, the latter in particular as I've barely even touched it.
Hey nice content,i tested a lot of builds in bnet the past few months,playing with only what i've found through the gameplay and i have to say that i found it more fast to "evolve'' with Sorceress than with any other character.I started with Fire and then switched to Cold in Hell mode and started Mausoleum/Andariel/Countess/Ancient Tunnel runs until i find a decent polearm for my merc.I found a nice thresher but instead of Insight i made a nice Obedience,and then i was able to clear Chaos Sanctuary too.
sorceress is sick for solo; a lot of these builds will really shine in a reset team though where you want diversity! or if you get bored of sorceress after leveling too many
One thing I wanted to note about using the stealth if you're using a spirit monarch is definitely go with a higher base. You're already using the STR for the monarch which is 156, so if you're going with a stealth, i'd use an archon or wire fleece
If you have 2 accounts, a great setup is doing soso with max enchant and static, and then a ww baba. The soso teleports through CS opening the seals and doing static, then makes TP for the baba to WW through all the CS. This can be done with low items in both of them.
I know this video is about a year old now, but the new changes to the fire elemental druid with stuff like physical added to (nearly) all fire elemental skills, removal of next cast delays, removing hurricane as a skill prereq and massive buffs to armageddon (plus being able to cast in wear bear form!!!) and new items like flickering flame in a druid pelt makes them absolutely insane starters, imo. Compared to the Windy (tornado) druid, which in my personal experience can have some annoying issues with tornadoes actually just missing their target.
Cold-Sorc is beast...especially if done as a hybrid (Cold/Lightning or Cold/Fire)...loved playing her over a decade ago :) Just like my Summoner/Army-Mancer, my Whirlwind-Barb (someone gave me Arkain's for it and I loved that! Just like Grandfather!) Just now I am however in love with the Javazon Lightning/Poison-Hybrid (Amazon isn't a class I played back then, because my usual party had one already...a Bowy with Windforce!)

Should also mention... He can run EVERY LEVEL!! Thanks to Amp dmg, decrep, and clay golem... No monster immunities and bosses get brought to a screeching halt. ( iron maiden for early duriel battles ).

Great video! I prefer the FB sorc upon the reset. It does such high damage norm-nightmare leveling up. I switch to blizz when I’m ready to start MFing.
starting with fire sorc, make leaf runeword as first item due the massive mana regen early on. switch to mf orb with blizzard support when reaching hell. then stick with it until farm all the gear to start a tele smitter :) great content mate!

My personal meta: as 3 man group you take paladin/sorc/amazon. Blizz sorc/java/suppor pally For support pally max conv, holly shield, smite. You are tank of party. Facetanking all content with conv aura, while java+blizz sorc shreds trough all content like hot knife trough butter. After you defeat baal on hell, respec pally to hammer. Then 3 man split farm. Soso - mef, mausoleum, tunnels, andy, summoner. Pally - chaos, countess, pit, worldstone keep all levels. Java - cows, eldritch, overseer, nihla,. Depending on clear speed, you can take some areas from each other. All meet up for baal at the end, and...next game;) can pull it of with literally 0 gear, just get max rez on pally. If you're lacking level, as ammy and soso are really dependant on levels, feel free too farm hell baal before reseting the pally.
I think I'd be lying to myself if I ever thought I'd make anything other than a cold sorc. Being able to farm key sets in under 2 hours is a hella money maker
I have always been a javazon fan she may not have the fastest clear speeds and she has the same early weakness of the light sorc, but there is something about making the whole screen explode with lightning fury, I might go trap sin this time though. I agree with you too the javazon gets a bad rep for "needing" titan's but it really dosen't need titan's it is just indisputably best in slot, I have cleared all the way through hell no problem without it, if you don't have it though try to get a rare with (in this order of priority) replenish quantity (constantly having to TP for repairs gets old quick), +skills, and increased stack size if you have that you will have no problems with anything but lightning immunes. Honestly most of what makes titan's so good is that it is +2 to jav skills, +2 all skills, and has 1 per 3 seconds replenish quanitity the rest is just icing on the cake.
@@keldon_champion true, if trade is not a factor shes pretty slow to gear. If trade is a factor, farming hell cows with zero magic find for eth elite polearms and other socketables is fairly lucrative as everyone else is busy farming mephisto for uniques.
I'm leaning towards 2 characters to cover all my basis.. Trap sin for the lightning/ fire / physical damage, and then the frozen orb sorc. I'm thinking the sorc will be stacking MF for andy/meph/AT. and my trapper can farm WSK, chaos, cows etc. for runes/ white items/ key farming... hopefully I can get lucky with an early infinity and just go full light sorc. May RNGsus be with us all.
Note that the *necro footage in the video is all nightmare difficulty. It's all fun and games until you hit hell CS. Any naked caster char lvl 60+ can clear NM cs in no time, the sorceress maybe fastest due to teleport and absurd dmg early on. In hell, that's a different story when your undergeared merc dies in a pack of 5 normal mobs, there are immunities, you have trouble dealing with infector of souls and if you can kill him you run for your life from the red beam and even autohits from Diablo hit like a truck. Don't let this "psn nec can do it all" story fool you guys...
My fav starter were always FB Sorc ( you literally need no real gear to farm good gear), Hammerdin ( use najs staff for cs runs until enigma ,2 x Spirit and he is already totally op), Nec Summoner ( little bit slow, but very safe and absolut best HC starter ) if you are bored you can play completly naked and do utrist naked. Every of this builds works godlike with cheap Spirit swords and or shield.
Interesting, I had not considered making a nado dudu first thing as I would have thought the item reqs be too high for start game. Orb soso, naturally would be my selection, but I'm v interested in the nado dudu
Just discovered your channel today and I wanted to say, subscribed instantly and devoured videos like candy. You are awesome and I appreciate these vids and hope to enjoy more of your stuff!
My first char is always a summoner/corpse explosion necro. You can complete the game in all difficulties with ease with really bad gear, only need to watch out for resistances(normal act bosses are actually the most difficult part). After that, just do diablo/baal runs (begin run by picking up free skeletons in the pindleskin area, kill shenk and eldrich, then clear diablo and baal. Baal is going to be slow to kill at first but very easy with decrepify aura. As your merc gets more crushing blow it will also become somewhat efficient. As I get some better gear I level up a blizzard sorceress for some quick mephisto runs and later on with really good gear the sorc can do quick and easy baalruns with the merc killing the cold immune mobs.
Cooley, just gotta say, your D2 videos are TOP NOTCH! 12 out of 10. I watch a ton of them, learn a lot, and am very entertained; Exceptional job, and Thank you!
Yeahhh my first ladder reset in like 15 years. That mean I will play all day then the day after when I will take a look at the leaderboard I will tell myself I suck at Speedrunning. Then I will convince myself everyone better then me are cheater ! Its how its work, right ?
I always goes kicksin with maxed death sentri. Loads of usable items in the game for them, which makes whatever u find a usefull item. They are viable throughout the game, early uber ready, and flexible in gear: Early weps: First: 3x ral flail or long sword. (this melts normal), then maby death seth for cold dmg and complete set bonus with the 2 other. Angelic on swap for full angelic set mf bonuses. Second: lawbringer / anything with cb / black Endgame: stormlash 15iad/15@ Shield: Rhyme Then later: Spirit or just keep the rhyme. Endgame: Stormshield soc 15ias/15@ Helm: Whatever first. High ele dmg, rare, unicue or whatever. Endgame: Guilaume, can be found act2 Nightmare. Soc 15iad/15@ jool. Belt and glove : First: Death + death. Endgame: 20ias/10cb/adds + strings/arach Ammu: First: angelic Endgame: atma scarab (5% ctc amp) Rings: First: manald + angelic Second and engame: Raven + 10fcr/dual leech/adds Boots: Both gores and goblins owns, i prefer gores end game and goblins early. Keep upping them as soon as ur high enough level. For eni and Forti builds u need gores for ow vs ubers. Armor: First: angelic/Stealth Second: duress Endgame: enigma Endgame rocks almost 100% cb, max kick ias faded, decent leech, amp, static, death sentri, 30/65fcr breaks, 50% dr, max block. Infi merc: Conv: boost light dmg trap and corpse explotion from death sentri, direct elemental kick dmg, static. Amp: boost cb dmg, direct dmg, leech, corpse explotion dmg, merc dmg. Its a really nice build throughout the game, its not the fastest, but its decent throughout, and actually can be extreamly fast lvl 85 area cleaner, also wins some time by beeing like inzane boss killer as well :)
When I use to play this game, I always saw Paladins as this god-tier end game build (Smite/BH). I love the idea of playing a BH Pally from league start and now I know about Tele Staffs for like Meph/Andy runs, I just want to play it so much now.
My go to reset builds were always (in order of preference): ****** Kick/trapper assassin, easiest to gear, not very item or weapon reliant (Max dragon talon w/ crushing blow, then max out lightning sentry/death sentry and synergies, points in shadow master as necessary). Capable of going from your first ladder character to a capable uber tristram killer as you gear up, has great boss killing ability with CB, has great crowd control, has great AoE damage from lightning and death sentries, built in natural resists and physical damage reduction, there's nothing not to like. Meteor/Orb or Fireball/Orb sorc Hammerdin Summoner/CE necro Javazon I only play a barbarian after getting good gear. I never play druids because screw druids.
Just to pump the kick/trapper more, the most expensive piece of equipment you need in order to clear hell with ease is a Lem rune. Stick AmnLemKo into a 3 socket phase blade (or long sword if you are that poor) to make the Lawbringer runeword. While the runeword has no enhanced damage, you don't need it because it doesn't transfer to kicks. You're grabbing it for the 20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Decrepify On Striking, as well as the permanent Level 16-18 Sanctuary Aura When Equipped modifier (which allows you to bypass undead physical immunities, AND leech health/mana off undead from your attacks). The life leech, -50% enemy defense, elemental damage, slain monsters rest in peace mod, and +dex are just icing on the cake. It's like this weapon was specifically designed for kicker assassins. Keep lawbringer and a shield on one weapon tab and use that for lightning immune mobs or bosses. Then weapon swap to a spirit longsword/phase blade and spirit shield while you're blasting away with traps. It's seriously crazy strong as far as budget builds go.
Necro with teeth +syn. Easy to get 3+ teeth wand at Akara.. (and sockets if lucky).. Then tir-rune you up (teeth-spread) in every socket slots u got! Even better if you find a necro shield with teeth skill added too🤘
I will follow my 2 options from the past hardcore ladder until I find enough gear for my belowed Jawazon. Fire early on sorc than switch to FO/Blizz or fana/zeal paladin than switch to hammerdin. Both classes can move fast(sorc teleport, pala charge) and does not require fotm gear to farm comfortably on hell diff. I cant wait...
My favorite way to do ladder reset is with trapsin or pally, rush to end game then spec traps or charge and start joining pub games called "ancients help plz" and just own those nubs in pubs. Leave a wake of fire and blood wherever your foot treads. Hail! (bilbomege here, obv)
remaster will be fun , looking forward to it! i like to play nec barb pally, usually my mains. wolf druid, sorc here n there and melee sin lol but sin tough for me.
I like trapsin a lot. If you are even decent at the char you can farm keys pretty effectively with her. Second char a budget smiter. Torches all day within the first month. Let the others find the gear for me :P
nice vids cooley. watching this i thought of act 5 quest 2, that gives you 2 of the 4 runes you need for spirit, and then also a ral which you can 3x transmute to work towards amn or thul, and if you saved all runes you found along the way you might have them all anyway or be close. can repeat farm countess too, in norm and youll get the spirit runes quickly. also, for merc, have you experimented with kelpie snare and blackhorns face? thats a bit later you’ll prolly have to be in hell. but those are 2 basically throwaway items but give your merc 95% slow, kinda funny against bosses, so long as youre not relying on the merc for dmg
I will never not go a sorc on ladder reset... access to teleport early is too important for me for farming... which is why I loved Path of Diablo so much, adding a movement skill to all classes to invest in making them all much more viable as starters
Great video! I'm thinking about max leap + item find Barb to just scavenge behind the bots. Here is my gear: Helm - doesn't matter Weapon - doesn't matter + fcr Rings - don't really matter Armor - Whatever I'm bringing myself from normal like Quilted Armor / 2 soc -> 2x chipped ruby
I guess you were avoiding retraining for purposes of this video, but I feel something could be said for a different build of paladin until you're level 20-something because the game can be a bit grindy those first few hours without any skills. IIRC, I would usually start with might & holy fire, which would get me through those levels a lot faster. Then again, the time spent doing that is pretty short compared to how long you'd be spending getting to hell.
Unpopular opinion, i think fissure druid and trap sin and zealer are the best starting mfers since they can heavily rely on skills and very little gear to be strong. Farm for topazes and as soon as you can get a 3os armor, 2os helm socket them bad bois with at minimum regular topazes asap. And get to meph normal asap. Farm continuously till you can efficiently kill nm meph with a sorc. Normal i would not use a sorc. Mana issues
I will be making an assassin, sorc IS the best choice, but PC died, and I cant replace it before d2r comes out so I'm forced to play on switch. Running seems more reliable than teleporting on a controller. So for the first time since original d2 was released, I play what I want instead of what is best
Gonna be playing hardcore so I think I'm leaning towards hammerdin or wind druid to start. I want survivability, and I'd go with poison necro but I think single target farming will be important for my first character. Perhaps necro will be second. Thanks for the guide!
When d2r comes out I will be starting with making all classes since we have shared stashes lol but to start the fun off I'll be using hammerdin once I get into hell and beat the game I'll switch to sorc. Once sorc is done and get gear for hammerdin and sorc I'll start to work on smiter for ubers since I don't need high end gear for him farm out some torches and build others. In a week I plan on having quite a few character done
cooley~ best ladder reset gear.....'shows spirit sword/shield (Which requires levle 27 just to use runes, then lvl 40 or so to use monarch.) what about getting to level 27 you make a vid like this you gonna have to tell others (cause i use my own plan, i.e. crafted or cubed items)but for newer players or players returning after years upon years of not playing to say new ladder chars you immediately just jump to level 27+ gear? for us more knowledgeable players yes level 27 is only what one or two hours most of grinding levels?
I honestly don't see any reason why you would even think about going frozen orb over blizzard. The damage of blizzard is so much higher and you actually have somewhere to dump all your points for increased dmg. By the time your 60 with frozen orb you have no way to increase your dmg.
I would personaly say based on a Rating for GOD-TIER compared to other chars its the Hammerdin, such much damage to carry an 8 player Game with no or very rare immunes, while having so much defense in Hell that in a singleplayer game with endgame gear you could easy tank out most monsters und just stand inside the blob without dropping, you get early mobility skills to compensate until you could afford to get an enigma its ridiculus easy. My hope is they add something like a D2R mod which differs from original game and they add some balancing for classes, some classes underperform pretty annoying until you get certain items to be somehow viable..

One thing I wanted to note about using the stealth if you're using a spirit monarch is definitely go with a higher base. You're already using the STR for the monarch which is 156, so if you're going with a stealth, i'd use an archon or wire fleece
I personally use ancient’s pledge for easy resistances, and sometimes smoke if Im using a bowzon. Great guide
If you have 2 accounts, a great setup is doing soso with max enchant and static, and then a ww baba. The soso teleports through CS opening the seals and doing static, then makes TP for the baba to WW through all the CS. This can be done with low items in both of them.
I know this video is about a year old now, but the new changes to the fire elemental druid with stuff like physical added to (nearly) all fire elemental skills, removal of next cast delays, removing hurricane as a skill prereq and massive buffs to armageddon (plus being able to cast in wear bear form!!!) and new items like flickering flame in a druid pelt makes them absolutely insane starters, imo. Compared to the Windy (tornado) druid, which in my personal experience can have some annoying issues with tornadoes actually just missing their target.
Cold-Sorc is beast...especially if done as a hybrid (Cold/Lightning or Cold/Fire)...loved playing her over a decade ago :)

Should also mention... He can run EVERY LEVEL!! Thanks to Amp dmg, decrep, and clay golem... No monster immunities and bosses get brought to a screeching halt. ( iron maiden for early duriel battles ).

starting with fire sorc, make leaf runeword as first item due the massive mana regen early on. switch to mf orb with blizzard support when reaching hell. then stick with it until farm all the gear to start a tele smitter :)

My personal meta:
as 3 man group you take paladin/sorc/amazon.
Blizz sorc/java/suppor pally
For support pally max conv, holly shield, smite. You are tank of party. Facetanking all content with conv aura, while java+blizz sorc shreds trough all content like hot knife trough butter. After you defeat baal on hell, respec pally to hammer. Then 3 man split farm. Soso - mef, mausoleum, tunnels, andy, summoner. Pally - chaos, countess, pit, worldstone keep all levels. Java - cows, eldritch, overseer, nihla,. Depending on clear speed, you can take some areas from each other. All meet up for baal at the end, and...next game;) can pull it of with literally 0 gear, just get max rez on pally. If you're lacking level, as ammy and soso are really dependant on levels, feel free too farm hell baal before reseting the pally.
I think I'd be lying to myself if I ever thought I'd make anything other than a cold sorc. Being able to farm key sets in under 2 hours is a hella money maker

I have always been a javazon fan she may not have the fastest clear speeds and she has the same early weakness of the light sorc, but there is something about making the whole screen explode with lightning fury, I might go trap sin this time though. I agree with you too the javazon gets a bad rep for "needing" titan's but it really dosen't need titan's it is just indisputably best in slot, I have cleared all the way through hell no problem without it, if you don't have it though try to get a rare with (in this order of priority) replenish quantity (constantly having to TP for repairs gets old quick), +skills, and increased stack size if you have that you will have no problems with anything but lightning immunes. Honestly most of what makes titan's so good is that it is +2 to jav skills, +2 all skills, and has 1 per 3 seconds replenish quanitity the rest is just icing on the cake.
With top gear she actually has the fastest clear speed of any build on players 8.

@@keldon_champion true, if trade is not a factor shes pretty slow to gear. If trade is a factor, farming hell cows with zero magic find for eth elite polearms and other socketables is fairly lucrative as everyone else is busy farming mephisto for uniques.

I'm leaning towards 2 characters to cover all my basis.. Trap sin for the lightning/ fire / physical damage, and then the frozen orb sorc. I'm thinking the sorc will be stacking MF for andy/meph/AT. and my trapper can farm WSK, chaos, cows etc. for runes/ white items/ key farming... hopefully I can get lucky with an early infinity and just go full light sorc. May RNGsus be with us all.
Note that the *necro footage in the video is all nightmare difficulty. It's all fun and games until you hit hell CS. Any naked caster char lvl 60+ can clear NM cs in no time, the sorceress maybe fastest due to teleport and absurd dmg early on. In hell, that's a different story when your undergeared merc dies in a pack of 5 normal mobs, there are immunities, you have trouble dealing with infector of souls and if you can kill him you run for your life from the red beam and even autohits from Diablo hit like a truck. Don't let this "psn nec can do it all" story fool you guys...

My fav starter were always FB Sorc ( you literally need no real gear to farm good gear), Hammerdin ( use najs staff for cs runs until enigma ,2 x Spirit and he is already totally op), Nec Summoner ( little bit slow, but very safe and absolut best HC starter ) if you are bored you can play completly naked and do utrist naked. Every of this builds works godlike with cheap Spirit swords and or shield.
Interesting, I had not considered making a nado dudu first thing as I would have thought the item reqs be too high for start game. Orb soso, naturally would be my selection, but I'm v interested in the nado dudu

Titan's Revenge can drop from normal Baal. They're a lot easier to find than Death's Sash in my experience.
100% running trapsin day 1. Java might be good for shenk though.

Just start javazon and run cows, insanely fast and you can get some high runes to buy your torch, it's not as expensive as pala or sorc ^^
My first char is always a summoner/corpse explosion necro. You can complete the game in all difficulties with ease with really bad gear, only need to watch out for resistances(normal act bosses are actually the most difficult part). After that, just do diablo/baal runs (begin run by picking up free skeletons in the pindleskin area, kill shenk and eldrich, then clear diablo and baal. Baal is going to be slow to kill at first but very easy with decrepify aura. As your merc gets more crushing blow it will also become somewhat efficient. As I get some better gear I level up a blizzard sorceress for some quick mephisto runs and later on with really good gear the sorc can do quick and easy baalruns with the merc killing the cold immune mobs.

Yeahhh my first ladder reset in like 15 years. That mean I will play all day then the day after when I will take a look at the leaderboard I will tell myself I suck at Speedrunning. Then I will convince myself everyone better then me are cheater ! Its how its work, right ?

Loads of usable items in the game for them, which makes whatever u find a usefull item. They are viable throughout the game, early uber ready, and flexible in gear:
Early weps:
First: 3x ral flail or long sword. (this melts normal), then maby death seth for cold dmg and complete set bonus with the 2 other. Angelic on swap for full angelic set mf bonuses.
Second: lawbringer / anything with cb / black
Endgame: stormlash 15iad/15@
Shield:
Rhyme
Then later:
Spirit or just keep the rhyme.
Endgame:
Stormshield soc 15ias/15@
Helm:
Whatever first. High ele dmg, rare, unicue or whatever.
Endgame:
Guilaume, can be found act2 Nightmare. Soc 15iad/15@ jool.
Belt and glove :
First:
Death + death.
Endgame:
20ias/10cb/adds + strings/arach
Ammu:
First: angelic
Endgame: atma scarab (5% ctc amp)
Rings:
First: manald + angelic
Second and engame:
Raven + 10fcr/dual leech/adds
Boots:
Both gores and goblins owns, i prefer gores end game and goblins early.
Keep upping them as soon as ur high enough level. For eni and Forti builds u need gores for ow vs ubers.
Armor:
First: angelic/Stealth
Second: duress
Endgame: enigma
Endgame rocks almost 100% cb, max kick ias faded, decent leech, amp, static, death sentri, 30/65fcr breaks, 50% dr, max block. Infi merc:
Conv: boost light dmg trap and corpse explotion from death sentri, direct elemental kick dmg, static.
Amp: boost cb dmg, direct dmg, leech, corpse explotion dmg, merc dmg.
Its a really nice build throughout the game, its not the fastest, but its decent throughout, and actually can be extreamly fast lvl 85 area cleaner, also wins some time by beeing like inzane boss killer as well :)
When I use to play this game, I always saw Paladins as this god-tier end game build (Smite/BH). I love the idea of playing a BH Pally from league start and now I know about Tele Staffs for like Meph/Andy runs, I just want to play it so much now.
My go to reset builds were always (in order of preference):
****** Kick/trapper assassin, easiest to gear, not very item or weapon reliant (Max dragon talon w/ crushing blow, then max out lightning sentry/death sentry and synergies, points in shadow master as necessary). Capable of going from your first ladder character to a capable uber tristram killer as you gear up, has great boss killing ability with CB, has great crowd control, has great AoE damage from lightning and death sentries, built in natural resists and physical damage reduction, there's nothing not to like.
Meteor/Orb or Fireball/Orb sorc
Hammerdin
Summoner/CE necro
Javazon
I only play a barbarian after getting good gear.
I never play druids because screw druids.
Just to pump the kick/trapper more, the most expensive piece of equipment you need in order to clear hell with ease is a Lem rune. Stick AmnLemKo into a 3 socket phase blade (or long sword if you are that poor) to make the Lawbringer runeword. While the runeword has no enhanced damage, you don't need it because it doesn't transfer to kicks.
You're grabbing it for the 20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Decrepify On Striking, as well as the permanent Level 16-18 Sanctuary Aura When Equipped modifier (which allows you to bypass undead physical immunities, AND leech health/mana off undead from your attacks). The life leech, -50% enemy defense, elemental damage, slain monsters rest in peace mod, and +dex are just icing on the cake. It's like this weapon was specifically designed for kicker assassins.
Keep lawbringer and a shield on one weapon tab and use that for lightning immune mobs or bosses. Then weapon swap to a spirit longsword/phase blade and spirit shield while you're blasting away with traps. It's seriously crazy strong as far as budget builds go.
I always loved Summoner Necros, Wolf Druids, and Trapsins best.

Necro with teeth +syn. Easy to get 3+ teeth wand at Akara.. (and sockets if lucky).. Then tir-rune you up (teeth-spread) in every socket slots u got! Even better if you find a necro shield with teeth skill added too🤘
I will follow my 2 options from the past hardcore ladder until I find enough gear for my belowed Jawazon. Fire early on sorc than switch to FO/Blizz or fana/zeal paladin than switch to hammerdin. Both classes can move fast(sorc teleport, pala charge) and does not require fotm gear to farm comfortably on hell diff. I cant wait...
My favorite way to do ladder reset is with trapsin or pally, rush to end game then spec traps or charge and start joining pub games called "ancients help plz" and just own those nubs in pubs. Leave a wake of fire and blood wherever your foot treads. Hail! (bilbomege here, obv)

I like trapsin a lot. If you are even decent at the char you can farm keys pretty effectively with her. Second char a budget smiter. Torches all day within the first month. Let the others find the gear for me :P

watching this i thought of act 5 quest 2, that gives you 2 of the 4 runes you need for spirit, and then also a ral which you can 3x transmute to work towards amn or thul, and if you saved all runes you found along the way you might have them all anyway or be close. can repeat farm countess too, in norm and youll get the spirit runes quickly.
also, for merc, have you experimented with kelpie snare and blackhorns face? thats a bit later you’ll prolly have to be in hell. but those are 2 basically throwaway items but give your merc 95% slow, kinda funny against bosses, so long as youre not relying on the merc for dmg
I will never not go a sorc on ladder reset... access to teleport early is too important for me for farming... which is why I loved Path of Diablo so much, adding a movement skill to all classes to invest in making them all much more viable as starters

Armor - Whatever I'm bringing myself from normal like Quilted Armor / 2 soc -> 2x chipped ruby

spirit sword and polearms is cows and baal runs. all get 4 socs from soc quest too. Necro is my fave. CE does own.
I guess you were avoiding retraining for purposes of this video, but I feel something could be said for a different build of paladin until you're level 20-something because the game can be a bit grindy those first few hours without any skills. IIRC, I would usually start with might & holy fire, which would get me through those levels a lot faster. Then again, the time spent doing that is pretty short compared to how long you'd be spending getting to hell.
Unpopular opinion, i think fissure druid and trap sin and zealer are the best starting mfers since they can heavily rely on skills and very little gear to be strong.
Farm for topazes and as soon as you can get a 3os armor, 2os helm socket them bad bois with at minimum regular topazes asap. And get to meph normal asap. Farm continuously till you can efficiently kill nm meph with a sorc. Normal i would not use a sorc. Mana issues

I will be making an assassin, sorc IS the best choice, but PC died, and I cant replace it before d2r comes out so I'm forced to play on switch. Running seems more reliable than teleporting on a controller. So for the first time since original d2 was released, I play what I want instead of what is best
Gonna be playing hardcore so I think I'm leaning towards hammerdin or wind druid to start. I want survivability, and I'd go with poison necro but I think single target farming will be important for my first character. Perhaps necro will be second.

When d2r comes out I will be starting with making all classes since we have shared stashes lol but to start the fun off I'll be using hammerdin once I get into hell and beat the game I'll switch to sorc. Once sorc is done and get gear for hammerdin and sorc I'll start to work on smiter for ubers since I don't need high end gear for him farm out some torches and build others. In a week I plan on having quite a few character done
cooley~ best ladder reset gear.....'shows spirit sword/shield (Which requires levle 27 just to use runes, then lvl 40 or so to use monarch.) what about getting to level 27 you make a vid like this you gonna have to tell others (cause i use my own plan, i.e. crafted or cubed items)but for newer players or players returning after years upon years of not playing to say new ladder chars you immediately just jump to level 27+ gear? for us more knowledgeable players yes level 27 is only what one or two hours most of grinding levels?

I honestly don't see any reason why you would even think about going frozen orb over blizzard. The damage of blizzard is so much higher and you actually have somewhere to dump all your points for increased dmg. By the time your 60 with frozen orb you have no way to increase your dmg.

I would personaly say based on a Rating for GOD-TIER compared to other chars its the Hammerdin, such much damage to carry an 8 player Game with no or very rare immunes, while having so much defense in Hell that in a singleplayer game with endgame gear you could easy tank out most monsters und just stand inside the blob without dropping, you get early mobility skills to compensate until you could afford to get an enigma its ridiculus easy. My hope is they add something like a D2R mod which differs from original game and they add some balancing for classes, some classes underperform pretty annoying until you get certain items to be somehow viable..
