- This was a great day of rock hunting despite the freezing water! I'm stoked with how well some of them cut. This was in Canterbury, New Zealand.

I thought that I had a voice in a quiet spot and shortly after 12:08 there is the voice of a young girl saying (Dad look what I found) A little strange. Lots of beautiful rocks in that river and beautiful snow on the mountains. Keep up the great videos and God bless you and your family.
the antler handled tool is an awl, for poking holes in leather.
How old do you think. I understand it is very hard to say.
Thanks! I appreciate the info, someone else said awl as well
I was just thinking that when I checked comments. I think I have seen one or something similar used in making leather boots.
Antler-handled tool, definitely. It looks a bit like an icepick, but more of the cocktail party type than the climbing-a-glacier type. I wonder how it got into the snowmelt.
Gorgeous agates and toffee stones! Wow!! Thank you for sharing this hunt!
Thanks for the info! Someone else said it could be an awl
@@mamlamborocks An awl?! Really??? Wow. OK, I guess maybe for large applications, like tents. Thank you for the info back. ^_^
I had no idea NZ had such variety.
Here in Oregon we have a ridiculous amount of chalcedony varieties.
Great vid man, subscribed and look forward to your next adventure
Great session! Looks cold 🥶
Sooo cold!
Nice finds, don't know how I missed this video.
A small pick with a bone handle. Unusual.
Some great variation there.
Looks like you found an Awl, with a deer antler handle... Dating will be hard as you can buy them like that today... Unless you can afford a Carbon 14 test 😂
I'm tempted, but $700 is quite a bit of money!
Just missed the live. Man I love hunting videos.
Hope you enjoy this one as well!
Very cool I look forward to one day hunting agates in the South Island. Interesting to see the Moa at the very end all stretched out (cant remember it being so long looking vertically). So cool that 3d print. Very inspiring channel totally helps me stay motivated to find amazing things.
Thanks Bruce! I need to print the Giant South Island Moa next, I'm almost done with the velociraptor
Need some more episodes. Gemstone beach Southland?
Awesome video, we do get some interesting and unexpected things in my area due to the glacial till bringing stuff down from the north of england and the boulder clay but agates are both uncommon and very hard to find due to the vast amount of flint that they blend in with, only found one or two locally over the years. Cheers for sharing your finds and your expeditions with us
Well done on finding those two though!!
Some pretty finds 🙂!
Thanks Robin!
Tool could be a leather punch
Thanks for watching! Here is the turtle skull I mentioned in the video: ua-cam.com/video/hwdtlTSwwlw/v-deo.html
Looks like an Icepick.
From what others have said, it looks like an awl
I love how you upload a few vids on this channel and dissapear for like 9 months and return and do it again
I need to be more consistent 🤣
❤ awesome find 😊 do you cut your own stones?
Yip, I have a cool lapidary saw that has auto feed
@@mamlamborocks do you cut others people's as well? I'm looking for someone to shy this big one I've got but have no idea where or who does it.
What are the laws about collection rocks from the beach etc in New Zealand?
Any spots in Northland to have a look?
Any spots in Northland for rock hounding ?
Looks like the remains of an antler handled knife sharpener
Oooh I'll look into that!
Are you enjoying following the rugby world cup? Wondering how you split your loyalties ...😉😉
I still like the Springbok team 😁
Where do you go out in Canterbury 😉😊
Pretty much any river south of Christchurch will have agates - like the Rangitata and Ashburton
@@mamlamborocks thanks so much! Am in Methven so pretty close to these 😊
