  • I headed down to one of the agate rich rivers here in New Zealand to see if recent rains had exposed any new treasures. I wasn't disappointed! Even thought I was only there for 2 hours, I managed to find some really good agates and other bits!
I'll be cutting these rocks in the coming week or two, so keep an eye out for that video!

Wow! That agate was huge! I cant wait to see what's inside that big one too! Those yellowed ones, with all the bands, are spectacular! You at least should polish up one face, just to accent those phenomenal bands! You really found quite a lot for that short amount of time. Warm your poor feet up! Thanks for sharing!

I would suggest you bring a spray bottle next time for the shore area, you wouldn't believe how much difference it can make. Happy hunting!

@@mamlamborocks That's some Awesome agates, NZ has. All that volcanic activity near your region provides some really great specimen pieces. Just beautiful, big agates 😀

Have you tried hunting with poloriazed sunglasses? It cuts the surface water reflect down like crazy! Congrats on the awesome finds!

Ooo, I love the little one with all the tiny bubble-shapes. All nice agates, but that big one with the green mineral intrusions is pretty darned cool--do you know what that green mineral is? I think those are going to slice nicely. Nice haul!

Maybe just polish the one with all the eyes on it. I think it would show off all of the lines and banding that makes the eyes. And then if it doesn't look cool you can still cut it in half. I just think it'll look awesome with all the eyes 👀 👀

Where to cut is difficult I have found. I think the opposite way to which you indicated. Start at the other end to the crystal end. Cut about 2cm off the end. You should be able to see what you have inside, so far
