Hugely informative. The Arc is undoubtedly more aesthetically pleasing. I guess many of us don’t pay hundreds to wear a jacket only on the hills where it can be worn around town as well. The fact the SL is cheaper too makes it an easy choice. Keep up the great work!
I have a Cerium SL and a Thorium. Being in CA, I tend to wear the Cerium more often as it covers the weather swings more. There is a loop in the left hand pocket that u can attach the stuff sack to so it doesn't get lost. The Cerium is definitely a tighter fit as it is a midlayer and should be tight not like an outer layer. Good review of both.
Nice content Sir…! I’ve had and love the Cerium SL and and just got the GW UL on a dramatic discount through MH’s website as a last call item… $126 shipped… wanted to stop using my SL around town and keep it in good condition for my long distance hikes… $126 I can afford to use the GWUL around Bend, OR and not feel terrible if something should happen to it… thanks again for the content… I’ll be subscribing
Awesome thanks. That’s a great deal
Wow, going with Arc'teryx cost you less, didn't see that one coming. I actually don't buy down jackets this light because for an unnoticeable amount of weight more, a synthetic will be just as warm and more water-resistant. I think you have a Patagonia micro-puff or nano-puff. How about a synthetic vs down jacket battle?
Great job, although I occasionally disagree, you lay out your argument well.
Thank you a lot for this, man!!
your welcome
I think the price difference is because the Ghost has a hood and the Arc’ does not.
Why would you need something ultra light weight if your just gonna wear it at the camp ground?
Thank you! this is interesting job,see you on my side! Backcountry~=)
Can you also test Big Agnes Zetto down jacket? It’s in 8oz range and has internal drop pockets.
Sure I’ll see if I can get my hands on it. Thanks for the suggestion
Enwild has it on sale right now
@@BackcountryRenegade fiy got this response from big agnes: "That Medium size is an 8oz jacket with 3oz fill.
" so this is very competative with Cerium LT and Ghostwhisperer.
Could you do a comparison with the Fjällraven Pack down hoody?
sure ill see if i can get my hands on one to compare
What size did you go for? And did you find it true to size or tighter than normal? I'm usually a size L (6ft 180lbs) but they only have M/XL on sale no retailers near me to try them on
for the arc'teryx cerium sl*
i got a men's small, but im a smaller guy 140 lbs at 5'7". the cerium fit a bit better where the GW was a bit boxier for my liking
