Awesome review, very in-depth and informative. Thanks for covering a lot of the small features and nuances that other reviews seem to gloss over (i.e. amount of down fill, the cinch cord, and the compress-ability). I picked up the Patagonia based on this video!
Good review! I just ordered that same exact Patagonia jacket today. It was 50% off plus and extra 10% with a code at steep & cheap. Can’t wait to try it out.
Thank you, sir. I own the old vest version of the Patagonia but didn't get the hoody because of the fit. I opted for the Cerium LT and SV instead. I just sold the LT and SV (old version) and bought this jacket on sale at the Patagonia website. I made money and got a better kit. Between the vest and hoody version, it pretty much covers 90% of my activities. It's a bit heavier though. Really appreciate your review.
Great video. I already have the Mountain Wear jacket. So, I will stick with that and layer up as needed to keep warm. The backpacking gear is so expensive that I don't want to keep changing it out. Planning on getting a later pack and sleeping pad next year. Thanks for sharing your ideas and recommendations about overnight backpacking. Jade
Fun video! I own the first gen of both jackets (approx 2016 and 2019). I can't imagine having to choose just one - they're both awesome in their own ways. I've used the Ghost Whisperer down to -15 celsius with a just wool shirt underneath while snowshoeing; it wasn't bad standing in it at the top afterwards either.
For backpacking I layer a non hooded and hooded Ghost Whisperer 2, for just slightly more weight than 1 Patagonia Down Sweater. However I’m considering getting t the down sweater for non-hiking use cases.
I love Patagonia synchilla sweaters. I own like 6 now lolol.. I own a Patagonia nano puffer, but I recently purchased a Canada goose, and used that jacket as a daily driver...
@@carlosdelcastillo6770 the updates for the new cerium is that it is a bit longer cut then previously models and has a bit thicker denier. It uses 850 down compared to the 800 of the down sweater. The down sweater though uses a lot more down and is a warmer jacket then the cerium and so weighs a bit more too. Both are really great. I tend to lean on the update down sweater becuase it’s a substantial improvement over the previous model where the cerium is a sight improvement over the previous model cerium lt
Hi there! Thanks for the information. Do you have any experience with the Arc'teryx Cerium Down Hoodie 2023 revised model? Which one whould you choose compared with the Patagonia?
Which down jacket (besides these) would your recommend for weather down to maximum -10 degree celcius + light rain/snow? What would be the BEST solution to use without shell? THANKS!

Indeed I have ordered the Patagonia based on your review.
Excellent and thorough review!

awesome, sounds like a good buy. let me know your thoughts when you get it
Hugely informative. Patagonia definitely is more stylish and can wear around town without looking you’ve just come down a mountain.

@@BackcountryRenegade Have you compared the Patagonia down sweater 2023 and the Arctrix Cerium revised 2023. Which one would be your pick?

How does the sleeve length compare? I have short arms and the Patagonia Medium fits well, but the sleeves look longer on the Ghost Whisper
really helpful video. thank you. esp the warmth comparison.
This was a great review! Very useful. Can you comment on how these jackets compare to montane 850 lite alpine down jacket?
Have you try the marmot highlander?
i have not, ill look into it

Hi ,which one is the largest on the shoulder?
Great review, thx
the ghost whisperer can easily go under freezing with some baselayers/midlayers under.
right anything can really with appropriate base layers. im talking of with just a shirt on underneath which is my standard of testing these jackets
