    I had problems with sweating in the Nano Puff. The Micro Puff is much better at moisture management. Love its drop-in pockets, light weight, compressability, and reduced stitching. Works well solo and as a mid layer. I use it in town in winter as well as on all hiking trips. Would love a phone pocket on the chest. Thinking of adding one, or a zipper to the top of one drop pocket.

    The satellite to phone network is apparently now complete - at least the last satellites in the constellation have been launched (Dec 2024). If it's allowed to operate, maybe in 5 years, you'll be able to purchase a dedicated plan. In 10 years, it might be affordable (but regular satellite phones aren't really affordable yet, so it might be longer). I'm not sure if the satellite network is truly worldwide or if it ignores the extreme north & south.

    Great comparison video! I am leaning towards the Patagonia Down Sweater, but the Arc’teryx Cerium seems to be calling me. Maybe just for the logo 😂 Is not having a zipper wind flap on the Arc’teryx Cerium a deal breaker? I would think so when primarily wearing the jacket as an outer layer.

    • @BackcountryRenegade
      @BackcountryRenegade 14 днів тому

      they are both great jackets and cant go wrong either way for me i prefer the down sweater, the windflap just make its a but more windproof but does weigh a bit more

    • @Adamas11
      @Adamas11 14 днів тому

      Yeah, 💯. The Arc’teryx Cerium jacket is really singing to me. I just need to find color and size in stock. Per post on an Internet forum: “I actually don't like the down sweater zipper, too chunky. And the wind flag also too chunky, very awkward to wear partially zipped up because the side with the wind flag always goes straight into my face. The Cerium has a reversed zipper where the fabric portion is at the front. It leaves a very small gap when zipped. Wind is not an issue.”

    One of those is double the size of the other when compressed , How are you saying they are both about the same?

    • @BackcountryRenegade
      @BackcountryRenegade 16 днів тому

      I didnt say they are the same at all. down sweater is warmer and use higher quality down. The microlite is a bit more weather resistant. Microlite is more technical but for lesser temps. They compress similar none the less. the microlite is more tighter in its sleeve so it looks bigger when compressed but its not. The down sweater has a different shape pocket to fit it so is longer but not as tight. hence why i said similar, not the same

    Informative video. An important point that was made is what is the backpack's intended use. I will be using the HLMG Daybreak 17 when I travel by air and for day hiking. The clamshell closure of the Daybreak 17 is vastly superior to the roll top closure of the Elevate 22 when on a plane. For a day hike tent, sleeping system and food/cook kit are not necessary and I believe the Daybreak 17 will have more than enough room for my day hiking gear.

    I went with the Patagonia one. Loved the fit, the color and the confort/warmth but send it back to the store because the fabric is crap. That simple. From day one you have lots of feathers pinching and making small holes in the fabric. Not acceptable to me. Went with Arcteryx and it fits better my body. I would say its not as warm as the Patagonias, but materials are MUCH better. Got it with 40% off, otherwise I wouldnt have paid 400€ for it

    Good presentation Always to listen to someone who know their product. For someone putting together their first winter kit one jacket can be a little daunting. For about the same amount of money they may be better off to buy the Alpaca hoody and a Gore-Tex or wind jacket and nest the two garments. That give them three options, just the sweater, just the jacket or nesting the two. Looks like a well though through design for a jacket. Thanks for the info on the CLO value.

    You covered some great info in your 24 minute video comparing these 3 devices. Thanks for the great video.
