I liked how they played with “over each other” within the lyrics: first is “all we are is talking over each other”, then “are we over each other?”, then “i’m so tired of talking over each other” and, finally, “we don’t have to be talking over each other”. The progression of how it’s used tells a whole story!
This song is a statement that Emily IS the singer of Linkin Park. We got some songs with Chester solo and we call them Linkin Park, now it's Emily's turn. This one is pretty tough for OG fans but we gotta move on and embrace the new era. The song is dope tho, a nice addition in their discography.
Originally Mike and Joe wrote this, and Mike recorded himself singing everything, but then Emily joined, and Mike did the background harmonies for Emily..... This is actually alot like Linkin Park in that they have always explored the calmer, radio-friendly vibes of the subgenre in each album, so it's the same for this album.... Album name "From Zero" seems to be a reminder of the name of the band before Chester joined...."Xero" Then they wanted to be Hybrid Theory, and first album was going to be Linkin Park. But switched around they names.....
@@ProducerJames91 yup...switched their names because there was already a band named Hybrid...so in order to avoid any possible future litigation, they named their band Lincoln Park. Commemorating that park in Santa Monica, then changed the spelling to Linkin Park, so they could have same name domain...
@@nadjasunflower1387 there's a residential area called Lincoln Park in Duluth, MN....maybe other fans can keep up this with the name of your park/neighborhood nearest you, that is named as such....?
What blows my mind is it feels like the stories and feelings that LP explores in their songs has grown with me. Hybrid Theory and Meteora fit the rage and loneliness I felt in my teenage years. Fast forward to one more light, and it really touches on the emotional struggles that we all face as adults. That theme is just carried forward with From Zero (so far) and I really like what I've heard so far.
Here’s my take on this videoclip if people are interested: There’s this movie called “the Sixth sense” and they LP does something like that. The first few clips you see of Emily where she crawls out of the wreck to free her partner from it (and not succeding) is not her physical self. Emily already died in the crash and this is her ghost. Emily doesn’t realize she’s dead and tries so save her gf. Then when the help arrives they cut the girlfriend from the wreck first and try to resuscitate her. Emily is stressed (and probably feels quilty) but the help seems to ignore her. Then we cut to what actually happened and we see that the gf was taken out of the wreck while Emily’s physical body was still in there. After the girlfriend was resuscitated she is taken to the ambulance and she sees Emily’s dead body. That’s why the ambulance leaves at the end and Emily is still there. Because she’s a ghost and can’t move on. (Probably from the guilt of getting her gf in a car crash)
I just love Emily sooo much, I really liked that point of view, that metaphorically the wreck is the end of the relationship, and how both of them saw their partner dead but regretting the pain inflicted. I will definitely subscribe for the rest of the album, to me having a queer woman singing in my favorite band of all time is just a dream come true.
Its different but it still feels true to what the album is cooking up to be. I really loved the lyricism. "this is the letter i didnt write" very final and sad. Also the "say whats underneath i wanna see your side" was a great hit home. Mike really let emily's voice shine. The vocals were very well tackled
I agree, the lyrics in this song absolutely slaps. And It was different to not hear Mike do any rap, but let Emily shine through on her own! Very impressive 👍
I just love how your final thought was that they both died in some way. Very deep and very true. They showed it in the literal, but lack of presence and understanding can kill relationships. Loved this reaction!
She is brillant. Stupid ppl say She only scream... No no ofc not. She has huge personality in the voice and we Just start to admire her.. She s got a huge potential to write future capital golded letters of the band.
I think Over Each Other is one piece of a larger story, the full album unfolds a journey that goes deeper than any single track can capture. Think of this song as a chapter, not the whole story. When the entire album drops, it will all come together. So, don’t take it on its own… the big picture is coming soon. Roll on Nov 15 👊
Hey Tony! I love your reactions so much! As a kid from the 90s, I grew up with Linkin Park, and they shaped my whole life. When Chester passed away years ago-RIP, bro-I thought it would be the end of Linkin Park. But hearing the song "The Emptiness Machine" brought back all the emotional waves I’ve missed so much in rock and metal music. I still cry every time I listen to it, and I’m glad to, because those tears are for Chester. This new era is incredible; I love her voice so much. With her, it feels like Chester is still with us. The other two songs are also breathtaking and give me feelings I haven't felt in so long. I’m so excited to see what comes next! Please stay authentic in your reactions. If you feel like crying, then cry! Don’t hold back the emotions. I’m a 34-year-old man, and I cry every time I watch anime or listen to music like this. It’s not a shame when your heart is touched by something so powerful. Wishing you and your family all the best! Greetings from Germany 🖤❤️💛
Thank you so much friend, that means a lot. I have tried letting go, and just allowing my emotions to be free when listening to music. It's great to hear you're so connected with that, no matter what the passion is, you have your heart set in it!
i'll just repost a comment i did on another video: this is one of those song that is incredibly good on it's own (a grower if you like, the more you listen the more it stucks in your head), but when paired with the video it becomes a 10/10 package. The best part to me is how the melody "opens up" when the message becomes brighter "see what's underneat, i want to see your side, we don't have to be talking over each other", that creates a perfect contrast with what is shown on the video when the couple is forever separated. Linkin Park as a group was always great in talking about deep stuff in their music, and the message i get here is that you need to solve your conflict before it's too late. And the way to do that, is by listening your counter part, be it your love, your friend, your family or even your co-worker
Love the song and the video. Listen to the Spotify version for a little easter egg alluding to the next song on the album. Mike says something to Emily at the very end of the track.
On the podcast they released last week, the next track in question is “Casualty” and it’s going to be a heavy song. So that’s why Mike said “get your screaming pants on”
I love this song so much. For the message and for the style of the song. And when you listen to the studio version, this song has to be between two harder songs. Because the end of the song suggestes that Emily is screaming again in the next song. And I think, that it's great, that a slower and not so hard song comes between the harder and louder songs.
Hi Tonylytics, liked & Subscribed, enjoyed your reaction, for me it is about using what I have more of my ears and not my mouth, when in a heated exchange of words and trusting your partner and lastly..life is too short and to never leave your partner upset at you or you at them..We not promised tomorrow 😟look forward to your Channel 😃🤘🏽
I read into the meaning as are the arguments in a relationship really worth it? When something tragic happens, one of the things we do as humans is regret all the negative stuff that happened, all the arguments we had and all the time wasted 'talking over each other' instead of just being with each other. Some stuff is just really petty but can lead to some strange, long, unnecessary arguments where both parties are hurt. I found it very interesting that the EMT were not pushing Emily out of the way so they could work on the patient. They ignored her the entire time which clued me into something odd going on. It was very well produced and I like how the order they are releasing these new songs! Excited to see what else she can do and what else the band has been up to.
For me listening to both the song without the video and with the video I see it talking about how people in both romantic, platonic relationships as well as people in comment sections that we all need to practice active listening and not be so quick to argue because talking over one another gets us no where and you never truely know what the next day will bring
My take on the video itself: love transcends death. Despite the fight, she still loved her partner and, even in death, sought to make sure she was alright. But that's just my thought.
What people does not get is that the band is more than Chester, and while he was a huge part of their success, Mike is the main songwriter/producer. Even though it was hard they did not die. Emily was a wise choice cause will kill most comparisons. This song is "her" song, and showcases her vocal versatility. She can sing anything!!!
I didn’t understand the part where both seemed dead and alive during parts of the video that weren’t chronological. But your analysis makes it sound so simple. Their behaviour is toxic and destructive so it destroys both of them to an extent.
its like movie sixth sense. little bit different tho. and i think if my life goes like that it will be about same. worrying others even im just a ghost or shade. hopes the best but. lyrics still. i cant find any spot of that she is dead and.. etc
Not feeling only a Sixth sense vibe on the video script, but i feel that i saw a MV of other band doing something like this in the past is my least fav of the three singles but i like it too.
It's very different from the first 2. And I agree, I liked the first 2 better. This, I think, was to set a new bar for a completely different sound for LP, the first 2 were more within their roots.
@@Tonylytics yeah for sure, its still a little weird hearing a LP song when the voice on it is not Chester or Mike, but even when its different that all i heard before, you can recognize its LP for the music production.
I know what you mean, and I kinda agree after listening back a couple times. Especially not hearing Mike Shinoda rap made this song feel a little separate. Music-wise on the other hand, given the guitar work & electronic aspect, I feel that still resides within the LP framework.
Emily shines on her own here. It doesn’t have to sound like the old LP. Remember this is a new era, she’s amazing and has a beautiful voice. The music still sounds LP to me during the build and chorus. They did a great job with this! It’s their new beginning and I’m so happy for them!
Hard to understand when people say this, I can hear Chester singing this so easily, it’s so in line with all the pop rock vibes they have done many times. The only difference is you don’t have Mike to give you the vocal tone familiarty
