u could also slide left or right like the bots doing it while u shooting at them it's so simple while u on ur horse hold right click on ur mouse and double press space bar

2 year old comment, but while there aren't rodeos, you can jump onto a wild horse and rodeo it to break it in. It even has a whole minigame for it and everything.

Of course! Since I had such a tough time figuring out the PC controls I figured I'd make it easier on others haha. Here is the definition of the piaffe: "Piaffe. An elevated trot on the spot. Piaffe is a highly collected, cadenced, elevated diagonal movement giving the impression of remaining in place. The horse's back is supple and elastic." There's plenty of videos on UA-cam of it if you want to look into it more.
Isn’t it so impressive that rockstar chose to include so many additional behaviours/movements/“tricks”!? They didn’t have to but as someone who grew up as “horse girl” it adds even more depth to the game and the horses that could easily be missed. There’s not even a dedicated horse game that does this as well. I left star stable in the dust after I started playing red dead 😍 Awesome video - I’ve been playing obsessively for 4 months now and I only just found out you can piaffe!?

Old video i know. But how do you melee people while riding a horse?! I found out my F button will make Arthur kick only but he always kicks the side where there's nobody. I.e. person riding on my right that i wanna kick, i hit F key and he kicks with left leg... weird.
Maybe look towards the player using your mouse whilst you press F? Could also be they're not close enough to you so it doesn't lock on. Hope this helps!

Hey, you seem to be pretty knowledgeable on the game, and I came to this video with a rather odd question, but I was wondering if by just holding shift your horse will not reach its full speed? Because I have a Missouri Fox Trotter while my friend has a Breton, and we were going the exact same speed. It felt a little off, so I tried a time test between my MFT and Morgan, and the difference between times was 0.27 seconds. To keep my other variables the same, both me and my friend had the exact same saddle + stirrups, and both horses in the test had the same saddle + stirrups, as well as started as the exact same spot.
If I misunderstood anything please let me know, I don't want to be condescending at all. :) First of all holding or tapping shift should produce the same results as long as your horse is at full health/stamina (so take care of them, brush, feed, rest.) Due to online not being accurate from internet speed, the servers, subtle differences whether it be how you play to the horse you have or a small difference in stats.. I wouldn't totally recommend testing with somebody else, I'd say maybe look at some game play of the MFT and get a feel, but of course keep stats in mind and everything. You're gonna know when you're going full speed, there is a certain feel and the gait is different than any of the previous speeds. If you aren't great at reading horse gaits I recommend studying it a bit maybe through a demonstration video online or just watching rdr2 horses move, it's based off of the movement rather than speed since every horse is different. Let me know if you have any more questions, I hope I helped at least a little. :)
When you’re next to somebody, real player or npc the game will match your speed to the slower horse. To bypass that you need to tap shift till you pull away, then you can go back to just holding shift.
how do you match your speed with story npcs? I'm on my second playthrough and already halfway through the story and suddenly my controller broke. I'm not gonna bother restarting the game just to learn the control.
To buck you have to run long enough for their stamina to run out and then they'll buck to try to get you off. To lead you have to hold right click while next to them and it should bring up the menu with feed, groom, and lead. Select the lead option and enjoy. :)
From a reply I sent in the past: "So in first person you can dismount by looking the way you want, but in third person you'll have to click d/a to dismount on the right/left and then click e, it can can just be a quick tap nothing crazy, this works if you're riding and turning to one side too, you'll always dismount on the side your horse is leaning." Hope this helps!
You can feed your horse stamina filling foods or use a horse stimulant whilst galloping, and be sure to slow down once they begin to become tired. The better stats your horse has the longer they'll be able to run, so make sure to level them up all the way and maybe invest in a better horse and tack as well. I am unsure as to what you were referring to by "What button do I have to press to match the rhythm?" But I hope I helped a bit! :)

diagonal is a unique term? What? Are you from a village without schools? Its a basic term you learn in geometry in the 9th grade in school
