    I just recently traded in a 2014 Mustang GT Track Pack for a 2018 Camaro 2SS 1LE in garnet red. I loved my Mustang. It had the track tuned suspension with the Brembo's in the front. I had alot of fun with it. But the 1LE is at a whole other different level. I've also test driven a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT392, and there is no comparison. The Camaro SS 1LE rules.

      g force congrats on the 2SS 1LE. I'm surprised that I don't hear to much about this car from the car scene. Most people get caught up in the horsepower wars with the ZL1 and Z06... I love my SS 1le. Power, balance, traction, and handling are superb. Thanks for watching and commenting.. please subscribe to he channel as well....

    I’ve owned a 2SS 1LE in Hyper Blue Metalic paint for three weeks now and I absolutely love it. I’ve owned Porsche’s and Mustangs, I also currently have a 2015 GTI as well but this car is 10x more fun to drive.

    I bought a fully loaded 2017 2SS. It’s a great car! I wanted a 1LE but at the time they were not readily available. Couldn’t find one anywhere in Southern California or neighboring states in the summer of 2017. I needed a car right away because my previous car caught fire on the freeway. I have put the 1LE Wheel and tire fitment on my SS and the handling is superb. I wish I had all the other 1LE extras. I may trade for a 2018 2SS 1LE if I find one at the right price with very low miles. I don’t like the 2019 + body changes. Great review.

    I love my '18 2SS 1LE! Thanks for the video, I was really curious on how the sunroof/blacked-out roof would look and WOW, wrapping the roof is a must after seeing your car! I've owned a GTI, M3 (both while stationed in Germany) and GT500 and I feel the 1LE really brings huge performance to the table, especially for the cost in comparison to the M3/GT500. Congrats on the car, I'll be subscribing to see how things go with the 1LE.

I really don't think there is a car out there new that can match the performance of this car for under 50k especially one that looks this good and loaded with features. So come April/May 2019 I'll be in the market for a 1LE, either 1SS or 2SS depending on availability and options. I've been living vicariously thought other 1LE owners who have posted videos and I just found yours today. LOVE the drone footage, and the satin black wrap extended over the roof looks incredible. Thanks for the post and throw some more videos out there. Would love you see some of your track footage when you make it there. Where are you located?

      jrock702 track day at Willow Springs? Im about to order the 2019 2SS 1LE. Spent months pondering about the ZL1 but the 1LE SS is perfect and well GM is no longer taking orders for the 2018. Anyway, im moving to Lancaster, CA in about a 2 months. I’ll be sure to hit up Willow often. This will be my first performance car!

      For both Jose and jrock.... I've considered picking up my 1LE in California because I can find some killer deals out there, but I'm concerned about the California emissions... is there a decrease in power or performance that you are aware of? Do you you know offhand what exactly is different between California cars and those sold elsewhere? (and by the way... hurry up and post your track day... living vicariously through you 1LE owners until there's one in my garage.)

Hoping to be as prepared as possible to maximize my fun out there... I do have some road racing experience on Sportbikes and with corvettes... It's been awhile though so interested to see how it goes...

    Just traded my 2017 Camaro SS 6 speed Friday night for a 2020 Camaro 1SS 1LE. I've also owned a 2014 Mustang GT track pack, and a 2015 Mustang GT Performance pack. This car blows all of them away. I'm still in shock by how much better it handles and drives over my 17 SS. I can't wait to get back to Roebling Road Raceway to really see the difference. I had my 17 SS for 3 years (2nd longest of any car since my first in 1990- a 90 Civic Si) and had no plans of getting rid of it. This car will get you in serious trouble on curvy roads if LEO's witness it. The ride is amazing considering the insane handling abilities.

    How important are blind spot and cRoss traffic alerts on this car? Could you easily do without them? Great review. Thank you.

    • @jrock702
      @jrock702  6 років тому +1

      I think these alerts come in handy as reassurance but aren't necessary if your side mirrors are adjusted properly. The general rule of thumb is if you look into any of your side mirrors and see any part of the side of your own car then they are adjusted wrong. This is where most people run into issues with when changing lanes when someone is next to them with the front of their car near their real wheel. If the mirrors are adjusted properly you should be able to change lanes safely by just looking in the side mirror then directly out the side window and if nothing is there then it's safe to change lanes. Often times people try looking over their shoulder out the back side window or rear window and this is generally where issues occur in cars that have bigger side pillars and smaller windows. I will admit to falling victim to this bad habit from time to time.. Some cars you can get away with this bad habit but the Camaro makes this bad habit more dangerous. Once your mirrors adjusted properly and you learn to trust them then you will be good to go. All new cars come with back up cameras which are a great safety feature and cross traffic alerts are an added safety assurance but I don't really need it. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching! Be sure to check out my channel. There are alot more videos to see.

      Hmm. Not sure. Most people know by now that the C8 is amazing. The SS 1le however, not so much. Most people didn't even know you could add the 1le package to the ss. Btw. You should invest in some front mud flaps. Most 1LE owners will tell you the wide front tires will throw rocks into your lower rear quarter panel. You will notice GM already puts a film protector on there to prevent rock chips, but its not large enough. I installed OEM mud flaps and increased the size of the film protection on the rear quarter panel. 👍

      I really liked both cars. I would say they were pretty equal in terms of fun to drive. They both had the same motor, and very similar drivetrain and features. The C7 had more of a cool factor but I would have to give it to the SS 1LE for handling performance. I think the alpha platform of the 6th generation Camaro SS combined with the 1LE package is just brilliant especially when you factor in the price difference.

    How did the original tires hold up ? How many miles did you get out of them.?

    • @jrock702
      @jrock702  5 років тому +1

      I've been running the OEM tires at all times. I really like the GoodYear Eagle f1 supercar 3 tires alot. They hold up rather well for a summer street/track tire. I could probably get a year or 10k miles out of the rears on the street If i behave myself most of the time. Mileage will vary depending on you driving habits. Keep in mind with any performance tire after many heat cycles even with decent tread left the tire becomes less sticky and you lose some grip. I'm on my 3rd set and have 11k miles on my camaro. I've also have done 3 track days as well though. Bottom line, I will continue to use these tires.

    • @jrock702
      @jrock702  5 років тому

      @@johneel7766 I've heard of people getting 2-3 track days out of these tires. All depends on the track and how hard you push the car. I would say you could get a solid track day and at least 5k to 6k of driving on the street. Wish i could give you a better answer. Yes, the ss 1le is the best performance bang for the buck.

    Lol. Are you kidding me. The 1LE is everywhere on UA-cam. Its been reviewed numerous times with tons of raves. 1SS and 2SS same car just some more interior creature comforts.

    • @jrock702
      @jrock702  5 років тому

      Sure the ss 1le is out there on UA-cam if you search for it... Most of the hype goes to the zl1 1le though. Unless you have a ss 1le or know someone who has one most people don't even know about it. I spend a ton of time having to explain why the ss 1le is so good to people. They often dismiss it as being a good track car as they think it's just a regular ss... The two most common things people say is they thought my car was a zl1 or that I have aftermarket wheels on my ss... Granted theses people don't own a camaro like we do. Obviously if you own one you will know all the differences and have watched tons of videos on them. Thanks for watching...

    • @jrock702
      @jrock702  5 років тому

      Sweet... The ss 1le is an incredible performance bargain. Something to keep in mind... If you plan on tracking the car and are over 5'9'' tall be careful if you are thinking about getting one with a sunroof... The sunroof decreases headroom by about an inch and a half. I think I'm 5'10'' or 5'11'' and with a helmet on Barely have enough clearance. I have to lean my seat back a little further than i like just to make it work... Also some helmets are a little lower in profile just in case you run into this issue.

      lol... It's along story as to why I made the switch to the ss 1le Camaro. Everyone is faced with decisions in life and they need to do what is best for their own situation. I created a nightmare for a year and a half after deciding to highly modify my corvette... I delt with 2 shops that didn't work out in the long run. One of which resulted in filing for a court case. $87k invested in car and mods and was left with a car I could no longer trust. I had a ton of issues and didn't have the proper support even though i was willing to pay for the issues with the car. I also came to the realization that having a car with way to much power and not enough traction was most of the time not a good recipe for a good time. Sure, I got drag radials... Now it hooked up better but didn't corner very well anymore. I was pretty pissed off at the world at the time I almost traded my corvette for the Zl1. I would have pulled the trigger on the zl1 if i hadn't been in the situation i was with the corvette at the time. So, fast forward to my recent purchase. I wanted the best overall bang for the buck and wanted to start doing road course track days again. The Camaro ss 1le fit the bill for what I plan on doing with my car in the future. I've learned a good lesson from all this. 650hp for a rear wheel drive car especially a corvette or camaro is in my opinion overkill.. Sometimes less power can actually be more fun. Balance of power and traction is key on road courses. Hopefully i will be able to prove my point at willow springs in August. I should be able to drive out of the corners with more confidence with a car that has better balance. Time will tell....

      jrock702 I got a 18 ZL1 and true 650 horses is over and I’ll probably never push that car to the max. But it’s nice to know it’s there. Once my warranty is expired I’m thinking about the whipple SC IDK yet. I don’t blame you and have a bad taste in your mouth with your corvette. A lot of money wasted. We live and we learn. I’ve wasted plenty money on my 50th edition SS. Just to trade it in 8months later. 1le is a sweet car. Looking forward to seeing your videos.

    Too slow 455 hp and top speed 165 !
    If you can’t tell the difference between this and a corvette that’s sad . Typical Camaro poor design poor engineering example you need to push a button for rev matching this should be an automatic computer function and so meany other issues I could write a book .

    • @jrock702
      @jrock702  6 років тому +5

      Lol!!! Here we go! I knew this would be coming. Sure, I can tell the difference between a camaro and a corvette. The performance gap Between the c7 or c7 grand sport and The Camaro ss 1le vs the price gap just doesn't correlate... Do some research on this and you will see. The Camaro ss 1le is a solid track contender. Time will tell... Willow Springs in August... Full video to come. The rev match is controlled by the computer. This is a feature you can turn on or off just like the vette. Once turned on it stays on until you turn the car off or hit the paddle again to deactivate.

      My loved my '08 M3 but it would only run right around 165 mph on the Abaun, (you can check out my video as well as my lap on the Ring). Another thing about my old M3 was no TORQUE, I believe the V8 had a pavement pounding 295 foot pounds, sure it loved RPM but back here in the USA it sucked as a daily driver. Having rev match on all the time would be annoying, I'm glad its easily activated/deactivated with the steering paddles. In a day and age of invasive computerized cars its nice to have a car you can tune to your needs with so many different set-ups. As a onetime diehard Mustang lover I gotta say, if you haven't driven one of these 1LEs and truly tried it out your missing out on a really great car.

      Just wanted to weigh in on the rev match feature. Most experienced heel & toe drivers find it a bit of an unusual experience at first...but once you get used to it, it is actually more accurate and precise bringing up the rpm’s on the down shifts and takes a lot of the extra work out especially braking and aggressive cornering. The clutch in these cars grabs a little wierd, as most already have felt. You gotta drive this thing aggressively to appreciate what it can do. You instinctively want to crack the throttle, and at times I still do, but the rev match (when on) beat me to it! In fact even normal street driving, if it’s off, or I forgot to turn it on, and then down shift, there’s that “tug” for a second, cause the revs didn’t come up as much as needed. It’s like “what”..? It’s a great tool when you learn to work with it. I’ve had guys breathing down my neck, and I got a 90 degree right turn coming up....so, okay, see if you can follow me through this turn. Comin’ into it, land, brakeing, slam scond, revs snap up perfect, gas, gone with a four wheel power slide. I want to add it’s also a 18’ SS1LE with meth & whipple mods. This thing screams fun...especially when you get picked on, they’re thinking it’s just an “SS”...😆

    The GEN6 SS 1LE is the only modern sport car that I (might) wouldn't rather have than a C6 Z06. I would love a new SS 1LE. I may end up trading my low mileage 02 SS on one if I find a price I like.
