In 18th February 1943, Sophie Scholl, her brother Hans and their friend Christoph were arrested having been found distributing anti-war leaflets at the University of Munich. They were tried and four days later on February 22nd convicted of High Treason and executed by guillotine on the same day. Sophie was 21 years old when she died for her role leading dissent and active resistance to the rule of Nazi Germany. Their tools of revolution were words, paper and a printing press. After the students’ death the sixth leaflet of the movement was smuggled out of Germany and used by the Allied Forces, who showered millions of copies of Sophie’s work over Germany just a few months after her execution.
Sophie’s story is a true lesson in dissent and serves to remind us that we have a responsibility to ensure that we never sleepwalk into such darkness again.

“How can we expect righteousness to prevail when there is hardly anyone willing to give himself up individually to a righteous cause. Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter, if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?”

I cry every time i listen to this. So young and yet so wise. Germany had a real heroine in this precious young woman.
Im a 27 yrs old man, and i am letting a tear or two on this. Tragic. May her soul finds its peace.
I came across this video on what would've been Sophie's 100th birthday. She was such a brave & beautiful human being. This is a very lovely song & the message Sophie left us is so poignant in our current times. If we don't learn from history we are destined to repeat it.
Absolutely brilliant! Sophie Scholl has been a personal hero of mine since I was a college student. I've never heard this wonderful song before, but I'm very grateful you shared it for all the rest of us to remember and honor Sophie.

I met two of the last living members of the White Rose Movement a couple of years ago in a Bar in Cologne in Person. That was a night to remember. I admire what they did, they had the Courage to rise and say No! I think in these times we are living in, where Nazis rise again, where People like Trump, Erdogan or Johnson and others only care for themselves, we need to remember such brave and bold Persons more than ever. Sophie, you and your compatriots stand out for your courage and heroism. You never died, you moved into legend. RIP!
I came across this fine song on Holocaust Memorial Day 2019. It is so appropriate that we all remember that some German nationals, not directly affected by the actions of others of their Countrymen, did stand against the evil that was Nazism and paid a heavy price. May she and her companions be held aloft in honour and respect.

This woman's Courage was as monumental as that of Arminius!! Both he, & Sophie are the True Patriots of Germania! Both resisting the Avarice of failed men!!
Each time I hear this it almost tears my heart out. The selfless bravery of Sophie and Hans Scholl was both incredible and salutary. This is a breathtakingly magnificent song. The film 'Sophie Scholl - The Final Days' is good and tells the story and, if you are ever near Munich, Robert Schmidt-Matt's memorial sculpture at the University of Munich is really well worth seeing.
She's so beautiful inside and out.i wish to be like her someday.

I did the same thing when I visited Ludwig Maximilian University and her grave earlier this month.
Beautiful song.....Great people...Sophie Scholl is a symbol of wanting a better world. It is important that we remember her and the White Rose for their willingness to stand up for something bigger than themselves..White Roses now represent more than we can say, they represent resistance, a struggle, and people with the right and love of free-speech.
