"I'm particularly delighted with the title track which manages to say so much in a subtle and non-preachy way" Mike Harding, Mike Harding Folk Show
"What makes England Green & England Grey such an interesting album is the way Meuross blends hope and sorrow. There is optimism and pride about England's sweeter things (such as the music of Cecil Sharp), and anger and laments over modern-day corruption, inequality and greed (the MPs expenses scandal gets a mention)." Martin Chilton, Telegraph
"It has been said that Reg Meuross is one of England's finest songwriters who deserves wider exposure. I have to agree." John Knighton FATEA magazine
"For many, the songs of Reg Meuross are the hinges upon which swing the doors of perceptive English folk…Meuross doesn’t simply write songs raging against the powers that be, he doesn’t adopt injured political ire or preach pointless platitudes. He recalls sacrifice forgotten, rights lost, the rule of injustice, personal pain and resolute hope. And if we don’t listen, the erosion might continue unabated. Aside from being a stunning album, ‘England Green & England Grey’ prompts us to save what’s going before it’s gone forever." Tim Carroll, FolkWords
"In the title track, England Green and England Grey, I think that there shimmers the mind-set that we need to regain in our political life as a nation: one of reflection, of a better understanding of our own history and a greater respect for our landscape. Very clearly, but with vocals that wave over you like falling silk, Reg Meuross effectively argues not only for socialism, but for a political system where dignity is held dear and considered precious, in which we acknowledge the sacrifices made by others in the name of justice, in which the government and the people share resources as a society, and in which we live, not just on the Earth, but with it. And that makes a far more appealing and convincing political manifesto than anything I saw in Westminster at election time." Tamsin Rosewell, Radio Warwickshire

I have to confess that I hadn't heard of Reg until recently, my loss & now my gain!
Hope you will make it to a gig www.regmeuross.com/events
Just was lucky enough to hear Reg at Weymouth and attend his workshop
So excited that Reg is coming to our little venue in Totnes at the conclusion of his December tour. He is a Poet & Troubadour of the first order!
Particularly appropriate to the New Year's Honours List and Iain Duncan Smith who deserves nothing but derision!
Been watching Reg for years now and I love his beautiful songs. He has an authenticity and sincerity that puts him in the highest rungs of British folk music. Nice to see the Cropredy festival at the end of the video too. I was there watching him.
Amazing words, voice and all. Next national anthem.
Can’t wait to see you play at Priming the Pump this summer 21-23 July. It’s going to be a brilliant weekend!
Excellent song and excellent video. Very much a song for our time now, thank you
Still listening and loving. An amazing song, singer and all.
The thoughts and emotions of many an Englishman woven into this beautiful song, sung with a gentle passion. A very skilful musician. Thank you for sharing. :-0
Heard Reg for the first time at Readifolk, via zoom, last night. Mind blowing, he speaks my mind . Wonderful songs, fabulous lyrics so well performed. A true professional.

AMAZING and so true.
This is a lovely song. ..
I've just returned from a festival in Mallorca where Reg performed this song.. The tune and words have been in my head for the last couple of days! A total earworm. Curse you Mr Meuross!
A great song - with sentiments that I subscribe to.
Can't add to what has already been written except for the clear fact that he's gifted and has an exceptional talent plus he has a good heart. Excelsior!!
Solidarity Reg! :-D xo
Absolutely wonderful
We were delighted to host Reg at Horsley Live Music Club last week. He had only just recovered from a bout of laryngitis but gave a wonderful performance. What a trouper!
This is wonderful -- totally agree with the lyrics ; also with with Tamsin Rosewell's review.
only heard about this singer this weekend when i saw him at Devoran accoustic sessions, a wonderful evening
Superb
my favourite song in the world!
Brilliant! I never heard of you before but love this. Sad the state we are in but love and truth will prevail. Thank you for this song. I'm sharing and maybe learning to play in the pubs here in Ireland. Hopefully a United Ireland. We're living in Northern Ireland but on the border. Soft me hopes. X
Usually nationalistic songs are crass, primitive and offensive, but Reg conveys without jingoism, celebrating the best but
acknowledging weaknesses. A rare talent.
Reg is a great wordsmith, another beautifully crafted song, lovely
Couldn't agree more - keep spreading the word regmeuross.com

This song hurts, not because it's a bad song, tune or singing but because its true
England would be ok if it wasn't owned by a tiny fraction of the population . England is a 'No Trespassing' nation unlike any other,'Private' signs are everywhere. The rich usually run the country, Eton fools .We overspend on the Military toys for the Public school boys while we clap for nurses . We could be so much better , but we allow the the same old toffs to keep the system loaded towards helping the rich. it's sad. but we have always made good music
I struggled with this song. At the beginning I really liked it and as an Englishman I really bought into the message about England and Englishness. However, it is disappointing that the lyrics thhen shot the message completely by inferring that England and the English people should accept responsibility for all of Britain's past and present ills - slavery, sex inequality, the Empire, the NHS and capitalist greed no less. In fact these were exclusively 'Made In Britain' by British people - English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish people equally, and to suggest otherwise does little to advance the cause of England, English self-identity and English youth's understanding of their heritage.
Hi Phil, That is not the inference at all. This is a song about the misuse of governing powers, the powers that affect my country, England. England Green sings better than Britain green.
