I’m in awe of the actress. I have no idea where a 20 something year old girl in the modern age goes to draw inspiration to produce such a performance. She does it in a way that the viewer can ONLY believe that Sophie Scholl faced the ferocious might of the third reich with the courage and the dignity and the righteousness that almost only exists in poetry.
I've read that her bravery was depicted this way because apparently, even the executioners talked afterward and spoke about her bravery and composure facing imminent death.
Freisler was killed in an Allied bombing raid in the middle of a trial. When his corpse was brought to a hospital, someone said "It's God's verdict", and no one said anything. Even the Germans hated him.
Roland Freisler started as a Communist sympathizer, then became a Nazi. Hitler said of him "He is our Vychinski". He could have served the Stalinist regime as well and had he not been killed in an Allied bombing would certainly have made his way through it and become an East German Stasi zealot judge. Such fanatics can serve any totalitarian ideology without remorse, they are the pure product of terror ideology.
@@claudekonqui554 Haven't seen this film, but the minute i clocked the name Freisler from dk560's post, it jarred a memory. I've read of this person many years ago.
