In the book son of the forest I think the lion says something like “ …whether beast or foe I will be there to protect the people of the imperium”. The whole galaxy is his forest. The Lion Hunts. The Emperor Protects!
He took on a hive tyrant mano a mano and ended up beheading it and walking off like a boss as it just stood there pumping blood out where it’s head used to be like a 80s movie and collapsed under its own weight.

My friend who got me into 40k in 2nd edition was a Dark Angel player, I was a Tyranid player. We used to speculate how this fight would go... and I'm loving seeing it actually happen now.

Great story they put in the book. The Lion is a monster hunter. He cleansed Caliban of the monsters, fought both the Rangda and the Krave. Pretty cool to see that continues.

the Swarmlord wasn't made in responce to chapter masters (though it does often seem to be deployed to counter them), most lore about the Swarmlord points to it being as old as the Tyranid race itself is (meaning that Hive Tyrants are likely the original basis of the Tyranid race), therefore meaning that it's been around since before they even arrived in the galaxy I do think you are right about the idea of the Hive Mind trying to make new Tyranids to counter Primarchs though.

Bio Tians are a thing, and there's a fair few powerful ones that have gotten mentioned in multiple editions of codicies (e.g. the Dominatrix) even if we only count Tyranids that already have proper models the Hierophant Bio Titan is already far bigger and stronger than the Norn Emissary. admittedly they serve different roles. looking at their lore the Dominatrixes are basically giant (like Warlord Battle Titan size) hulking all-rounders that act as the swarm's main synaptic link to the Norn Queen while the Norn Emissaries are much smaller (but still gigantic) assassins and agents that are placed on the battlefield to fulfil a single hyper-specialized role
To be fair to Dante, it wasn't a Hive Tyrant that almost killed him but the Swarmlord. The Swarmlord is a step up again from the Hive Tyrant, essentially an Alpha, and its a bit of a different cookie, to the point the Swarmlord has killed a huge number of Space Marines, very nearly killed Dante, Marneus only survived because virtually his entire honourguard sacrificed themselves to allow time for him to be hauled off with grievous injuries etc, although Marneus did later get revenge and killed at least one iteration of the Swarmlord. Even the Swarmlord isn't at Primarch level, but if the nid's get even a drop of primarch blood into the Hive 'database', there is going to be some serious hell to pay coming, given the newer beasts the Swarm is concocting to deal with the higher tier threats its now encountering in this galaxy. The Lion however really is in his element here however, considering he grew up in the forests of Caliban surrounded by and hunting down Chaos Beasts, so this must all feel a little familiar to him in that regards. I mean, the Lion/Dark Angels are essentially Arthurian knights, and monster slayers, brought to 40K, tasked to deal with the biggest monsters and foes out there. THIS is what the first legion was made for; they just got a little distracted for a few thousand years!

I'm not a marine player, but if I was it would be the Dark Angels. I have always had a soft spot for them. Having the Lion come back and dive straight into battle is awesome. Couldn't ask for more.
The dude went toe to toe with Angron. I think he's fine. As for Gulliman, he's literally been remade by Big E at the end of Godblight. I think that got rid of whatever fulgrim's knife did. And whatever weakness he was suffering from
I don't think he's weakened just that he will have to adjust to his new fighting style because he's somewhat slower. But he has the big E's shield which is OP and his psychic potential is evolving. Basically Vader vs Anakin situation where the former is overall stronger but latter is faster and has less wisdom
Love your content, but I just have to be a bit nitpicky. It wasn't just any Hive Tyrant that killed, it was the Swarmlord specifically. While I think the Lion would still have to win, I think that would be a much closer fight. Swarmy might actually have to take that fight seriously and pull out his psychic bullshit. Would be cool to see.
As a former engineer of audiobooks, recording him would be an unending nightmare. We're supposed to stop the narrator and restart the whole page whenever they mess up. I've been following him for over a year and never heard him get through a paragraph with no mispronounced words...ever. 😂😂😂
Genuinely wondering if Lion's ability will be the perfect counter to tyranid battle doctrine. Forestwalking to key synapse beasts in a single battle and sending the swarming beasts feral in his wake. The hive mind would have a hell of a time combating something that can assassinate its connection to its army.
To be fair, the Lion didn't take on the three Screamer Killers by himself. One of them was slain by the Inner Circle Companions ganging up on it, and he had help with the third.

I don't think he's weakened just that he will have to adjust to his new fighting style because he's somewhat slower. But he has the big E's shield which is OP and his psychic potential is evolving. Basically Vader vs Anakin situation where the former is overall stronger but latter is faster and has less wisdom

Love your content, but I just have to be a bit nitpicky. It wasn't just any Hive Tyrant that killed, it was the Swarmlord specifically. While I think the Lion would still have to win, I think that would be a much closer fight. Swarmy might actually have to take that fight seriously and pull out his psychic bullshit. Would be cool to see.

As a former engineer of audiobooks, recording him would be an unending nightmare. We're supposed to stop the narrator and restart the whole page whenever they mess up. I've been following him for over a year and never heard him get through a paragraph with no mispronounced words...ever. 😂😂😂
