I was 12 yrs. in 1989 when my mother first showed me that famous photo of Emmet Till in his casket and that image of him frightened and haunts me even today. It made me understand who I was in this world and that could have been me had I been born during this time. Everytime I hear about another black on black here on the Westside of Chicago or on the Southside, I think of Emmet Till and what he endured for nothing at the hands of the whiteman. We are a psychologically fucked up I swear. This little brother was a sacrificial lamb in the most horrific way and we killing each other like it ain't shit. R.I.P Emmett Till. Your death was not in vain.
