Adam Lambert A Change is Gonna Come #1 for me. Incredible vocal range, breath control and full head voice power! Many great talents on this list, more than any other talent reality show. He was the most diverse and exciting. Mad World was exquisite too.
I hate reading the comments that say the list sucks because of one song not being here. This is an opinion of this persons favorites, and I thank you for making this
OMFG! I am SOOO glad we have the same opinion of #1 (Bridge Over Troubled Waters performed by Clay Aiken). No other performance could compare to that :D
Melinda is one of the best vocalist in American Idol history. David Cook in my opinion is the most complete male winner. Angie Miller has best original song..... Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, and Hayley Reinhart winners without crown and such a strong voice Carrie and Kelly will forever be the queens!
Candice Glover's "Love Song" is my favorite performance in the history of Idol!!! Still gives me chills when she emphasizes that note with her fingers pulling apart..... AMAZING!!
Nice List, thanks for the memories. lots of great performances. Haley's I who have nothing is still #1. Adam's Mad World #2 and David Cook's Hello (very cool) was 3rd.
There were a lot of good performances through the years and everyone has the right to their opinion. Everyone should respect each other's opinion. It would solve a lot of problems in the world.
I like Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Clay Aiken, Fantasia, Adam Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Cook and David Archuleta. Let's just thank AI for giving us this kind of entertainment. Let's respect each other's opinion.
It's funny, I remember all these moments and I loved them all...maybe not in the same order but definitely all great idol moments. Thank you for capturing all my idol moments! Great job!
I actually like your choice of #1 favorite performance in this countdown, Clay Aiken with that golden voice and an unbelievable rendition of the Simon & Garfunkel song!
Clay Aiken's "Bridge" certainly is one of the top songs ever on any talent show. It is a tough call. Joshua Ledet, Adam Lambert, Crystal Bowersox,Fantasia,Jennifer Hudson,Haley Reinhart and several more should be in the top 3
#1 on this list was like #40 but this was an impossible task. So many great performances. Kudos for trying. It reminded of some great performances. Thanks
So many of you complaining that Jessica Sanchez should have been higher or more often on this list. Honestly, she's good and everything, but if you compare her to some of the other girls who DID make the list, it's no contest. And Haley definitely deserves to be up there. It seems to be the general consensus that Haley is probably the most underrated Idol contestant ever. I don't know how she wasn't more popular. She really is quite a talent. Thanks for this list. I think it's pretty well thought out and spot on.
You are so right. I don't know why but Haley was always underrated but she is such an immense talent and one of the few whole packages. Her popularity has been growing as people hear her voice and see what an incredible performer up this beauty is. Yes she has it all. Beauty, brains, great voice, fabulous personality and one of the nicest persons you could ever meet. Her star has been rising upward steadily and she will be touring this February in Europe
Nice video! Haley Rhinehart was never one of my favorites but you did include her best performances IMO. I agree 100% with #1, though--I remember watching it that night on TV and being blown away by the last note. I thought it had sealed a win for him, honestly (not that I had a problem with Ruben). Now I want to watch all the full performances of these songs :)
Adam Lambert!! I mean Simon said it himself he was one of the best contestants to step an idol stage, bravest contestant they've had, & the only person Simon did a standing ovation for!!!
From the late seasons: Elise Testone "Whole Lotta Love" Jessica Sanchez "And I am Telling You" I would trade Phillip Phillips "Home" for "Volcano" ...... Candice Glover "I Who HAve Nothing" Kree Harrison "‘Up to the Mountain" .......... Jena Irene " I Can't Help Falling in love" Jessica Meuse "Blue Eyed Lie" ..... Clark Beckham "Sunday Morning" "Superstition" "Every Breath You Take" "Georgia On My Mind" ........ La'Porsha Renae "Diamonds" "Halo" "Elastic Heart"
You cannot have a top idol performances list without James Durbin's rendition of "Uprising", Siobhan Magnus's rendition of "Paint it Black", Caleb Johnson's rendition of "Dream On", Carly Smithson's rendition of "Blackbird", and Angie Miller's Rendition of "Bring Me to Life".
Although since this was made in 2013 I'll forgive not including Miller. BUT WHERE THE HELL IS DURBIN'S UPRISING!? None of Slapped Ham Scotty's or Tone Deaf Hollie's performances should be on this list. And Aiken does not deserve the #1 spot, or even anywhere in the top ten. That belongs to either Kelly Clarkson or Adam Lambert. Period.
One of my favorites was Latoya London singing "Don't Rain on My Parade" Candace Glover song was "You've Changed". Adam Lambert "Tracks of My Tears". Bo Bice "In a Dream" unforgettable. .
Even though this is a very good list I must say that not having a single performance from Casey Abrams and only one from Joshua Ledet is simply a mistake!
Enjoyed this -- one thing to remember too is that Season 1 & 2, the performers sang with a backing track -- and very little special stage affects and lighting. Things got more dramatic and more visual as the next seasons of Idol progressed. Wish more of Clay Aiken's Solitaire had been shown -- it was so special, too. Neil Sedaka said he had lost his song to Clay. I agree. Bridge Over Trouble Water was amazing -- 2003 -- a huge "water cooler" moment.
You should replace some clips with Shiobhan Magnus - Think Vonzell Solomon - I have nothing, Best of my Love, When you tell me that you Love me and I Turn to you Elise Testone - One and Only Matt Giraud - Part time Lover David Archuleta - When you believe, Angels and The long and winding road Jessica Sanchez - Steal away
Joshua Ledet should be at the top of the list hes the only artist in Idolhistory that ever got 18 Standing O's, and had great performances every week, hes the best Idol period, there will never ever be anotheridol that can touch him he left his mark on that show #1
I have to agree. I thought he was going to win it. I knew it was between him and Phillip. My brother called Phillip from his 2nd performance and I was like, SHESH HES GOOD BUT NOTHING LIKE JOSHUA!
Not Joshua, no. That was all scripted by the producers. he had a couple good performances, but the rest of the fake judge response was trying to sway the votes.
abeeftec In top 24, I have it on written record saying "Jessica Sanchez will win, unless another guitar boy makes it to top 10 and gets the teenage girl vote". Bingo.
A lot of memorable performances on this list. But I'm shocked that only one Joshua Ledet performance made this list. When A Man Loves a Woman and You Pulled Me Through easily deserve a top 10 spot. All of his other performances were amazing but aside from the one already on here, these 2 were off the charts! And I don't know anyone on the show has removed their jacket as smooth as he did. And his chest voice range is RIDICULOUS!
Honnor Mentions to: Kelly Clarkson - Natural Woman Adam Lambert - Tracks of My Tears Candice Glover - Dont Make Me Over Kree Harrison - Here Comes Goodbye Jacob Lusk - You're All I Need To Get By Pia Toscano - All By Myself Jessica Sanchez - And I am Telling You Amber Holcomb - What Are You Gonna Do Jacob Lusk - House Is Not a Home Casey Abrams - Natural Boy Kris Allen - Heartless Danny Gokey - Come Rain or Come Shine Alison Iraheta - I Cant Make You Love Me Lakisha Jones - And I Am Telling You
Happy to see Clay Aiken to be in the top list. Glad that Elliot Yamin's on the list as well. My favourite american idol, Jennifer Hudson, is the powerhouse! :D At the very least, I was hoping to see "And I am telling you" performed by Jessica Sanchez. I might also be biased, but my favourite performance is her tribute to the late Whitney Houston "I will always love you". :P
Yo really well put together, thank you for posting this. It really brought me back. Obviously there were some I didn't agree w/, but nothing drastic. A lot of it went right along with what I was thinking and of course it's all opinion. Good vid. Thumbs up
Because the most talented person almost never wins these shows. There are occasional times where the best person actually wins (Kelly, Candice, Carrie and more) but these shows are just popularity contests...
GREAT list Though I would've included: David Cook: Always Be My Baby (probably #1) Lee Dwyze: The Boxer Brooke White: I Am I Said and Let it Be Allison Iraheta: Alone Andrew Garcia: Straight Up
Ill be shocked if Haley Reinhart performances wont be included here.. She has 3 entries.. Im so happy. Her version of Bennie and the Jets deserves to be at the number one spot !
+Jeff Wagers I rewatched her performances and they aren't nearly as impressive as I remember them being. Jennifer and Fantasia have endured for a reason.
I think your #5 Candice Glover's Lovesong is my number 1. Bo Bice's performance of For the Love of Money as #2. David Cook's Billie Jean as #3. Those are my top 3 picks. :-)
Well, this was not in proper order, but good to hear them all. J. Ledet is by far the only performance I listen to every month. You pulled me through - J. Ledet, Are you ready for love, J. Ledet, and more and more J. Ledet...Even that C Glover Always love you could have been number 1.
Some classics on the list, although I can't really support Haley placed that often and highly. Other favorites of mine: David Cook - Always be my Baby Phillip Phillips - We've Got Tonight Candace Glover - When I Was Your Man Casey James - Jealous Man Kris Allen - Man in the Mirror Lauren Alaina - Anyway Danny Gokey - Jesus Take The Wheel Jordin Sparks - I Who Have Nothing Adam Lambert - Tracks of My Tears
Candice Glover singing Love Song is by far the best. she leaves the setting of a competition and exists in the music, owns it, more than any other performance on here. everyone else is still in the space of "trying" to nail it
You forgot Jason Castro s " haleluja " and/ or " over the rainbow",Kimberly locke and Allison Iraheta s " i cant make you love me " , " cry baby" ( allison iraheta) " over the rainbow"( Kimberly Locke , Tamyra gray);Anthony Fedorovs " I surrender"; Latoya London s " somewhere" ;Joshua Ledet( ready for love); Candice glover s " I who have nothing"; Justin Guarinis "unchained melody" ;nadia turner" you dont have to say you love me" and Michael johns " dream on", etc, etc..and there was a guy with a very good voice but didnt go far: Will Makar ...
Lmao Jason Castro sucked, one of the most undeserving people to ever make it to the final four. That season was full of so much great talent that he somehow outlasted (Michael, Carly, Amanda, Brooke, Chikezie). He and Kristy were the only two duds in that otherwise pretty stellar top 12 that season.
To the person who said somebody got a thing for Clay Aiken? Well, maybe! But I think somebody got a thing for Haley Reinhart. Seriously? 3 performances in the top 50 and many, many more great performances were left out..but you know, this is your list so whatever....
It's pretty safe to save that lists like this are more personal preference than objective reality, because to have Lee De Wyze's "Hallelujah" over Jason Castro's is just wrong. A "best of" cover list of songs should have performances where the singer makes the song truly their own, or their vocals are just so superior, the performance stands on its own. That would knock out some of this list like Jessica Sanchez, Pia Toscano and Melinda Doolittle's "Home." MHO - Crystal Bowersox, while original in her arrangements, didn't really deserve two spots. Blake Lewis - while controversial, is the perfect example (should've been higher than 50). NO ONE else could've pulled that off, and made it sound good. Haley Reinhart's "House of the Rising Sun" - another example. And of course, Fantasia Barrino's "Summertime." Personally, I'd have put an Adam Lambert or a Kelly Clarkson performance at the top; definitely not Clay Aiken, good as he is.
kimberly locke had some great performances as did the wonderful Tamyra grey add in Mandesa and paris maybe i need to make my own list . lol thanks for the walk down memory lane
I think Joshua Ledet gets shafted on this list. His performance of "When a Man Loves a Woman" is, in my humble opinion, the greatest performance in the history of idol, followed by Adam's "Mad World" and Haley's "House of the Rising Sun".
+Will Thompson To me, the very very best is a short list, including "To Love Somebody" (Joshua Ledet), "If I can't Have You (Adam Lambert), and maybe not far behind was the top 24 performance of "The Prayer" (Jessica Sanchez, or Melinda Doolittle's "My Funny Valentine. Honestly, I really don't get the appeal of some of these singers. Kelly Clarkson was phenomenal. (And pretty hot back then!). Carrie Underwood...Phenomenal. I must say Jacob Lusk's "God Save the Child" was shockingly awesome when I first heard it. I think Pia Toscano was fantastic. But some of these singers just don't do it for me. Fantasia is *ok* (I can't get past the thin nasaly tone of her voice). Jennifer Hudson is just ok for me. I just see Joshua Ledet and Adam Lambert being in their own class in terms of overall ability to deliver a song with meaning, emotion, and flawless execution. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jessica Sanchez, Melinda Doolittle, and a couple others were truly great singers. Clay Aiken #1? Seriously? This is a very disappointing list lol.
While many people have different tastes in music, different preferences which therefore change their preference on who is "best," understand that #1 in this video definitely is #1. This would be based on how perfectly controlled the voice is, how perfectly executed the performance was, the pitch tone and flawless in use of vocal range. Hard to tell now because music has changed, but higher notes are not always better.
not in any order, but the best are IMO: Angie Miller-You set me free, Pia Toscano- I'll stand by you, Jessica Sanchez- I will always love you......All from girls who should have won their seasons but did not!
Interesting list! In a number of cases, I agreed with the artist but preferred a different song, or alternatively the same song by a different contestant. So, I would say I prefer Hallelujah by Jason Castro, I Who Have Nothing by Jordin Sparks, and House of the Rising Sun by Siobhan Magnus. And I'd pick Hello for David Cook, People Get Ready for Crystal Bowersox, and I'm Telling You for Jennifer Hudson.
This is an opinion of this persons favorites, and I thank you for making this
U Dont Like This List..... Obviously This Is Opinion.... But Clay Was NOT Ur Best Performance EVER On American Idol.... Honestly...
Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, and Hayley Reinhart winners without crown and such a strong voice
Carrie and Kelly will forever be the queens!
@DrewGoldKing you realize how they aren't even on here
In my opinion phillip has the best original
You forgot about fantasia
Candice Glover's "Love Song" is my favorite performance in the history of Idol!!! Still gives me chills when she emphasizes that note with her fingers pulling apart..... AMAZING!!
Clay Aiken by far the best vocalist I ever heard on Idol! Every week he excellent and then sold millions of albums and singles in the process.
Nice List, thanks for the memories. lots of great performances. Haley's I who have nothing is still #1. Adam's Mad World #2 and David Cook's Hello (very cool) was 3rd.
i enjoyed the recap - forgot about some -a lot of young talent-thank you!
There were a lot of good performances through the years and everyone has the right to their opinion. Everyone should respect each other's opinion. It would solve a lot of problems in the world.
Jessica Sanchez' and i am telling you should have been on the list if not no.1
I like Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Clay Aiken, Fantasia, Adam Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Cook and David Archuleta. Let's just thank AI for giving us this kind of entertainment. Let's respect each other's opinion.
Loved seeing Elliott Yamin on this list.
It's funny, I remember all these moments and I loved them all...maybe not in the same order but definitely all great idol moments. Thank you for capturing all my idol moments! Great job!
I mean Joshua Ledet's It's A Man's Man's World was maybe the greatest performance on any talent competition so...
This brought back some great memories. Thank you.
I actually like your choice of #1 favorite performance in this countdown, Clay Aiken with that golden voice and an unbelievable rendition of the Simon & Garfunkel song!
OMG! I totally guessed your top 3 and when they started playing I was yelling "YES IM A GENIUS!" lol good list!
Can you people stop bitching about "what SHOULD be #1" and just enjoy this amazing talent?
Unbelieveable voices.. God has best you wit great talents now it is upto you how to use it.. Best wishes!!

Angie Miller's "Who You Are" is the best performance ever. The feeling, the emotion, the voice, the performance. AMAZING!
Joshua Ledet Will Always Be #1 In My Book Until Another Idol Comes Along And Blows Me away Better Than He Did Which I Doubt That Will Ever Happen!!
Nice video! Haley Rhinehart was never one of my favorites but you did include her best performances IMO. I agree 100% with #1, though--I remember watching it that night on TV and being blown away by the last note. I thought it had sealed a win for him, honestly (not that I had a problem with Ruben). Colton Dixon - Piano Man, Kris Allen - Heartless, David Cook - Always Be My Baby
Make - Your - Own - Video
Adam Lambert!! I mean Simon said it himself he was one of the best contestants to step an idol stage, bravest contestant they've had, & the only person Simon did a standing ovation for!!!
I agree. His entire season was basically "American Idol with Special Guest Adam Lambert." All of his performances should be on the list.
+ddmaul totally agree!
Yay! Clay Aiken is #1! Right where he should be. Solitare and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me should have been much higher on the list.
Good list! In my opinion, in the history of American Idol, David Cook is by far the most complete singer and for me, he is the best!
From the late seasons:
Elise Testone "Whole Lotta Love"
Jessica Sanchez "And I am Telling You"
I would trade Phillip Phillips "Home" for "Volcano"
......
Candice Glover "I Who HAve Nothing"
Kree Harrison "‘Up to the Mountain"
..........
Jena Irene " I Can't Help Falling in love"
Jessica Meuse "Blue Eyed Lie"
.....
Clark Beckham "Sunday Morning" "Superstition" "Every Breath You Take" "Georgia On My Mind"
........
La'Porsha Renae "Diamonds" "Halo" "Elastic Heart"

None of Slapped Ham Scotty's or Tone Deaf Hollie's performances should be on this list.
And Aiken does not deserve the #1 spot, or even anywhere in the top ten. That belongs to either Kelly Clarkson or Adam Lambert. Period.
My Top 5

5. David Archuleta
4. Ruben Studdard

One of my favorites was Latoya London singing "Don't Rain on My Parade" Candace Glover song was "You've Changed". Adam Lambert "Tracks of My Tears". Bo Bice "In a Dream" unforgettable. .
Don't rain on my parade is one of my favorite performances as well. Latoya London was shafted.
Thanks for posting
Some are good. BUT Adam should have had more songs on this list. He was and still is amazing.😌💜💓💕💓💜💜💕💓
Deborah Torres yea best contestant ever
@@footballminds3706 Absolutely
Solid list, one inexcusable omission - allison iraheta.
Angie Miller - You Set Me Free :D
This was great, just wish the songs were the full length that they aired. It was over way too quick.
Only 1 from Jessica Sanchez?!? Are you kidding me?!? at least 4 of her performances deserve in at least top 20...
You should replace some clips with Shiobhan Magnus - Think
Vonzell Solomon - I have nothing, Best of my Love, When you tell me that you Love me and I Turn to you
Elise Testone - One and Only
Matt Giraud - Part time Lover
David Archuleta - When you believe, Angels and The long and winding road
Jessica Sanchez - Steal away
Joshua Ledet should be at the top of the list hes the only artist in Idolhistory that ever got 18 Standing O's, and had great performances every week, hes the best Idol period, there will never ever be anotheridol that can touch him he left his mark on that show #1
I have to agree. I thought he was going to win it. I knew it was between him and Phillip.
My brother called Phillip from his 2nd performance and I was like, SHESH HES GOOD BUT NOTHING LIKE JOSHUA!
Not Joshua, no. That was all scripted by the producers. he had a couple good performances, but the rest of the fake judge response was trying to sway the votes.
abeeftec
In top 24, I have it on written record saying "Jessica Sanchez will win, unless another guitar boy makes it to top 10 and gets the teenage girl vote". Bingo.
b3fiend Joshua was the best of that year. period. The judges weren't trying to sway votes. Joshua never had a bad performance.
I couldn't have said it better. He is not only the best Idol ever, but I dare say in the top 5 of male singers in HISTORY! No joke!
ITS JESSICA SANCHEZ..... SHES SO VERY VERY VERY GOOOD...
Honnor Mentions to:
Kelly Clarkson - Natural Woman

Kree Harrison - Here Comes Goodbye
Jacob Lusk - You're All I Need To Get By

OMG I forgot about Kree Harrison! She was really good
Totally agree, great choices! Enjoyed the trip back in time!
I'm pleased , Clay Aiken is no. 1!!!
Joshua Ledet should be #1 hands down, greatest singer in the history of the show.
Catherine McPhee's "Over the Rainbow" is one of my all time favorite performances. Outstanding.
David archuleta 😍😍
Happy to see Clay Aiken to be in the top list. Glad that Elliot Yamin's on the list as well. My favourite american idol, Jennifer Hudson, is the powerhouse! :D
At the very least, I was hoping to see "And I am telling you" performed by Jessica Sanchez.
Good vid. Thumbs up
#1 YAS. To this day, I'm still in awe that performance didn't seal the win for Clay.
Because the most talented person almost never wins these shows. There are occasional times where the best person actually wins (Kelly, Candice, Carrie and more) but these shows are just popularity contests...
Totally agree.
GREAT list
Though I would've included:
David Cook: Always Be My Baby (probably #1)
Lee Dwyze: The Boxer
Brooke White: I Am I Said and Let it Be
Allison Iraheta: Alone
Andrew Garcia: Straight Up
And I Am telling you by Jessica Sanchez??? i think it deserves to be included ;)
I agree with all of them!!!! They were memorable performances, I do admit some were missing. Colton Dixon and Lakisha Jones are missing there.
Ill be shocked if Haley Reinhart performances wont be included here.. She has 3 entries.. Im so happy. Her version of Bennie and the Jets deserves to be at the number one spot !
really love it, clay aiken is the best #1 love u clay aiken
Oh my stars ... Joshua Ledet is incredible!
Where is Latoya London from Season 3? She was up there with Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson, and could sing!
+Jeff Wagers I rewatched her performances and they aren't nearly as impressive as I remember them being. Jennifer and Fantasia have endured for a reason.
Thought the same thing. Latoya London had some incredible performances.
+Jeff Wagers I was thinking the same thing I
Exactly
I so agree with your #1!
Clay! Awesomeness!
I think your #5 Candice Glover's Lovesong is my number 1. Bo Bice's performance of For the Love of Money as #2. David Cook's Billie Jean as #3. Those are my top 3 picks. :-)
+Tina A Forgot Caleb Johnson's Skyfall. ;-) #4 I guess....LOL
Well, this was not in proper order, but good to hear them all. J. Ledet is by far the only performance I listen to every month. You pulled me through - J. Ledet, Are you ready for love, J. Ledet, and more and more J. Ledet...Even that C Glover Always love you could have been number 1.
But I DO Agree with Clay being number 1...Bridge over troubled water was EPIC...should've won him AI over Ruben....
Anything Clay did on that show should be higher besides BOTW. solitaire should definitely be higher!
Randy said Joshua's performance of mans world was the best ever on the show…
Pretty good list. I could switch out some performances, but most of the ones that really hit hard when we first saw them are there.
Candice glover, joshua ledet and jessica sanchez are people who are in idol history for best idol have ever seen EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some classics on the list, although I can't really support Haley placed that often and highly. Other favorites of mine:
David Cook - Always be my Baby
Phillip Phillips - We've Got Tonight
Candace Glover - When I Was Your Man
Casey James - Jealous Man
Kris Allen - Man in the Mirror
Lauren Alaina - Anyway
Danny Gokey - Jesus Take The Wheel
Jordin Sparks - I Who Have Nothing
Adam Lambert - Tracks of My Tears
Forgot Skylar Laine - Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You
And one probably no one remembers...Kady Malloy - Groovy Kind of Love
Clay big Voice!!!!!!!!!
Adam Lambert, Phillip Phillips and Lee.D 😍😍
Candice Glover singing Love Song is by far the best. she leaves the setting of a competition and exists in the music, owns it, more than any other performance on here. everyone else is still in the space of "trying" to nail it
+theblueangel28 barring that demonic sound in the mic, yes
More of my personal top favorites: Casey and Haley performing Moanin', Casey Abrams "Georgia On My Mind" and "I Put A Spell on You".
Hallelujah and Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Jason Castro were also amazing AI performances.
Adam Lambert A Change is Gonna Come #1 for me too.
That's closer to my list....thanks for sharing 😀
It's her opinion
Lmao Jason Castro sucked, one of the most undeserving people to ever make it to the final four. That season was full of so much great talent that he somehow outlasted (Michael, Carly, Amanda, Brooke, Chikezie). He and Kristy were the only two duds in that otherwise pretty stellar top 12 that season.
Joshua ledet! The best of all seasons!!!! Then David Archuleta, Candice Glover, Fantasía , etc.
Fantasia Summertime the best ever forever! Joshua Leddet should be in Top 3. Latoya London'All By Myself, Candice"s I Who Have Nothing
You are missing Always be my baby- David Cook and Heartless-Kris Allen
To the person who said somebody got a thing for Clay Aiken? Well, maybe! But I think somebody got a thing for Haley Reinhart. Seriously? 3 performances in the top 50 and many, many more great performances were left out..but you know, this is your list so whatever....

Haley Reinhart's "House of the Rising Sun" - another example. And of course, Fantasia Barrino's "Summertime." Personally, I'd have put an Adam Lambert or a Kelly Clarkson performance at the top; definitely not Clay Aiken, good as he is.
You forgot Amber Holcomb! she had awesome performances! I wish they would bring a lot of them back and just watch them perform.
kimberly locke had some great performances as did the wonderful Tamyra grey add in Mandesa and paris maybe i need to make my own list . lol thanks for the walk down memory lane
Siobhan Magnus - Paint if Black. I thought that was pretty memorable.
Haley was my favorite of all the seaons im a huge fan my opinion she shouldve won she deserves to be on this list!
I think Joshua Ledet gets shafted on this list. His performance of "When a Man Loves a Woman" is, in my humble opinion, the greatest performance in the history of idol, followed by Adam's "Mad World" and Haley's "House of the Rising Sun".
***** so true
+Will Thompson what about its a mans world? thats my #1 for josh, followed by when a man
+Will Thompson To me, the very very best is a short list, including "To Love Somebody" (Joshua Ledet), "If I can't Have You (Adam Lambert), and maybe not far behind was the top 24 performance of "The Prayer" (Jessica Sanchez, or Melinda Doolittle's "My Funny Valentine.
I can't comprehend how it's possible to have a list such as this with only one Elliott Yamin song.
Yes!! Haley for sure is one of the greatest ever!
Do not agree at all.
#1 Angie Miller- You set me free
not in any order, but the best are IMO: Angie Miller-You set me free, Pia Toscano- I'll stand by you, Jessica Sanchez- I will always love you......All from girls who should have won their seasons but did not!
Angela Bance Now we have to add Queen Jax to that list lol
Interesting list! In a number of cases, I agreed with the artist but preferred a different song, or alternatively the same song by a different contestant. So, I would say I prefer Hallelujah by Jason Castro, I Who Have Nothing by Jordin Sparks, and House of the Rising Sun by Siobhan Magnus. And I'd pick Hello for David Cook, People Get Ready for Crystal Bowersox, and I'm Telling You for Jennifer Hudson.
Jennifer Hudson never sang And I Am Telling You during her time on American Idol ...
clay ftw!!!! hes just flawless!!!
Really??? No Paint It Black, by Siobhan Magnus? Or..... Whole Lotta Love by Elise Testone? Or Georgia On My Mind, by Casey Abrams?
a lot of these people should really be stars
THANK YOU! SOMEONE WHO GETS IT
