How are more people upset about Butker than they are with Rice?
Facts
Easy answer: religion and politics pisses people off.
Done. Solved. You're welcome.
Because he’s a white conservative Christian
A young man man making a stupid mistake vs an older person spreading carefully considered hateful rhetoric and outright lies.
What's wrong with you that you think it's an either/or? BTW, Rice screwed up his own life and possibly a couple of others. What Butker did was to demean young women at a once-in-a-lifetime event and tell them the degree they'd worked hard for was useless because they'd never be fulfilled until they realized their place was in the home, having babies, and making it possible for their useless husband to attain success without making any effort in the marriage.
The fact that there was more outrage over what Butker said than about other NFL players sexually assaulting women, hitting women, abandoning their kids, and driving recklessly is all you need to know
Completely agree
@juliaa327 there is outrage over those issues. Do you watch sports? This is minimal compared to others.
Yes, exactly!
I mean Colin Kaepernick felt the same way but was yall respecting his freedom of speech ? He literally got booted out for his beliefs smh
@@thekidd1856 regardless of where you stand on Kaepernick or Butker, the big difference between the two was that Kaepernick protested on the field while Butker voiced his opinions in the off season, at a private college, completely independent of the NFL
Harrison has the right to say whatever he wants! And everyone else has a right to say their response! Neither is more or less valid than the other.
And the Chiefs have the right to let him become a free agent in the very near future. They can win without him

It really is a shame people can't be adults when it comes to differing opinions now days. Major props again for this one.

Funny they arent calling to release Rice but mad at Butker at a PRIVATE COLLEGE
ive said from the start they need to release rice. hes too immature
A private Catholic College, no less and he knew his audience and it was well received
People were absolutely saying Rice should be released.
Damn good point
Rice should be released. What he's done is worse than Kareem Hunt and he got released quick. Hunt was defending himself.
It was a speech at a private college spoke to like-minded individuals. He got a standing ovation. I’m not religious. WHO CARES!

#1 jersey in the NFL. Americans agree😀 Protect Free Speech!!!
Why aren't you buying a Kaepernick jersey then?
@@JoeRussellProductions Kapernick was using a platform to speak (IE via the NFL/football games) and people aren't watching NFL to watch players protest.. they are watching to watch players play a game.
@@Nummycakes1 You are a little wrong. He felt compelled to kneel during the national anthem and he just so happen to be a NFL player. If he felt compelled to kneel, he would have kneeled regardless of where he was at. So, this is a freedom of expression and speech exactly like all other forms. Freedom of expression does not go away when you are on TV. Also, anyone who is just "watching" players to play a game... well there are LOTS of things happening that is not just players playing a game. Celebrations, interviews, ads, breaking news... etc, etc. Watching a dude kneel (without talking) freaked people out not because it was another act of free expression, but because they were judgmental of the cause. Please notice that white christian folks hated Kap, but they loved Tebow. Tebow was much more overt with his expression.
He’s a devout Catholic not a halfassed one.
It’s his right to have his beliefs.

If he was the Panthers punter no one would care!
It doesn't really matter anyway, it's called freedom of speech, it's his opinion and I'am sure the K.C.Chiefs aren't going to cut a world class kicker over his religious beliefs, that called freedom of religion, I am more upset of the video of Diddy kicking and beating his girlfriend, then claiming he didn't do it, what a piece of crap he is, it, yes I said it, should be in jail.
Perhaps that’s the reason we were led to this point. The journey here was necessary to defeat this faction of supremist cultism
Very true!
😅
Ummm kicker not punter
Cole. Thank you for making this video from a level headed stand point and not going crazy like quite a few have. Another reason you're the guy! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion which ever way it is!
First off, I waited a couple days for your response. So you have my respect enough to be interested in your opinion.
You, as Butker, are lucky enough to be able to voice that opinion, whatever it may be. He wasn't talking to you or me, or anyone that hated it. He got an applause worthy of a satisfactory commencement speech.
As a former contributor and expert at one of the Chiefs content sights for a few years, I can say that you usually hit the nail on the head every episode. Bravo.
Butker is an American expressing his beliefs and has that right per our constitution.
The only thing the constitution says is that the federal government can't abridge freedom of speech, although the Supreme Court has found that there are times when speech is not protected, such as incitement to imminent lawless action or defamatory lies.
@@columbia2635
Ok, I'm DONE with you! Buh-bye now! Don't let the door hit you in the @$$ on your way out ‼️
Nobody is saying he doesn't have a right to free speech. Criticism of his free speech is also free speech. He has a right to say what he wants, but he doesn't have the right to be insulated from any blowback as the result of his words. That's not how the first amendment works.
@@ElSantoLuchador
Freedom Of Expression, Freedom Of Religion, Equal Opportunity Employment Rights protect him from being "fired" for giving a speech in the Off Season unrelated to the team. So, yes, you Snowflakes have every right to make a public outcry but that is ALL you can do.
Incidentally, the Missouri DA or AG or whatever has opened an inquiry into who doxxed Butker publicly.
Nailed it sir. Keep up the good work. I spent 20 years in the military to help keep this country free and for people to be able to express their beliefs without fear of retaliation. We just need to agree to disagree and move on. LFG!!!!!!
Guess what, those "retaliations" are also a right of a free country. Don't forget that while you make excuses for a horrific speech that literally told young women they wasted 4 years. The Sisters of the Benedictine are none too pleased with Butker, either.
@@columbia2635
Yes, "retaliation" against free speech is the norm in Russia, North Korea, Iran & China.
Thank you for your service, salute!
@@columbia2635 Watch to the end. He got a standing ovation. He didn’t say that the women had wasted four years. He didn’t say they shouldn’t work. He said that the most important thing in their lives would be their children and he also said the same about men. This is perfectly in line with the standard orthodox beliefs of his faith and would be shared by the vast majority of women who practise that faith - otherwise they would not be attending that particular college.
Any Benedictine Sister who doesn’t agree with the beliefs of the RC Church or the ethos of the strict Order she (presumably) willingly joined should perhaps reevaluate why she is there. 🤣
@@columbia2635 You really need to watch the full speech that he gave and not the 1minute shorts you are getting your information from. Then maybe you will see just how wrong your comments are and apologize for being uninformed.
I stand with Butker. Man is entitled to his own opinion, it’s a free country
Nobody is saying he committed a crime. Nobody is saying he didn't have a right to say what he said. Vocal criticism about his free speech is also free speech. Those that greet him with a chorus of boos every time he steps on the field will also be exercising their right to free speech. That's how the first amendment works.
@@ElSantoLuchador The issue is people were calling for him to be released from the team. Cancel culture gets people fired. When your career is at stake for your speech, you do not have free speech.

Thank you Cole. We don’t have to agree with everything Butker says, but let him speak what he believes. It’s not football related so don’t let it wreck the football team.
Well, it was also to a religious school. I think what he said was kind of silly, especially since I’m an atheist, but he can say it, just like players can say there’s a flat earth. Looks to me like everyone is using their freedom of speech & that’s what it’s all about.
@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 that's the exact point he's a deeply Catholic man speaking at small Catholic private college. His speech were for those in attendance, and it was well received and loved by those in attendance. I know this for a fact is a close family members daughter was in that commencement class.
Just like you said you don't have to agree with it, but he knew his audience and he has the right to say what he said. And people getting bent out of shape are absolute idiots
@@Wyomingchiefwhy are they idiots? They are within their right to criticize butker just as butker is in his right to say what he said. Free speech cuts both ways.
@krosses7156 going to spell this out for you, they are getting offended about a speech that was not directed at them nor was it about them. That's like getting offended because somebody in some random town called somebody else a name😂😂
Yes they're idiots because they're getting offended by something that does not affect them in any way shape or form.
And yes I know you're going to try to throw that back at me, I'm defending somebody's right to free speech and that does affect me because I'm sick and tired of people being criticized for expressing their views and getting canceled. So yeah it does affect me.
Disagreeing with what somebody says is one thing, doxxing and trying to get somebody fired or even worse hurt 100 percent crosses the line and that's what so many people out there are trying to do
@@krosses7156 The right of free speech ends when someone put his life and the lives of his family in danger.
I watched the speech in full. From what a lot of critics have said on the national news, has only been repeated verbatim by people I can tell never even watched his speech. Butker is a hard core Catholic, that's a given, but he should be free from the anti-Catholic bigotry.
There is no anti-Catholic bigotry. It's a religious group that deserves to be criticized for their hypocrisy. They think they're better than everyone else when the Church that they donate to and evangelize for literally protects Priests that molest young children, and are STILL protecting them and hiding them in foreign countries as we speak. Why no criticism from Harry on that one?
And LGBTQ and POC should be free from bigotry and hate from Catholics. But it's ok because "faith". Get a grip.
@@sigma6840 Without looking up exact numbers, of the 1.3 billion Catholics, the continent of Africa has over 250 million Catholics and Latin American countries has around 425 million, and there's about 120 million in Asia. You were saying about POC?
Catholicism has spent nearly 4 billion protecting pedos.
Butker: You know what's gross?...gays and women working.
These people are backward bigots and there's nothing redeemable about Catholicism. It's one of the few things, that have ever existed, that SHOULD be hated.
I think this might be the best video you’ve ever made Cole, and it shows how nice of a person you are
I spoke with a mother whose daughter graduated from Benedictine, she was telling me that nobody stood up or left during his speech, at the end she said he had received a massive standing ovation, 🤷🏻♂️
One of my close friends daughter also was in that graduating class, and was there for the full speech. It was extremely well received by everybody there including the women and everyone in the staff. And frankly they're shocked that people are offended because this is a small private Catholic college, he was giving a speech to them not to the whole world
That’s absolutely hilarious 😭😂😂😂
@@Wyomingchief I’ve visited the school a handful of times, including recently, they’re unapologetically Catholic, honestly got a real “this place is home” vibe from there.
@@dalton2479I had a previous girlfriend, long long time ago who graduated from there. And you're 100% right they are unapologetically 100% Catholic at that College. And yeah I'm just amazed that people are upset when it had nothing to do with them
He's a misogynist but why does that surprise anyone?
Well done Cole, I feel like you just Indiana Jones'd your way out of a snake pit of a topic. Bravo.
you win the comment section
I knew that it would blow out of proportion as soon as I read the early reports. What surprised me is the main furor being over his comments on homemaking, instead of his comments on LGBTQ and pro-life, which were far more direct and incendiary, in my opinion. Regardless, it is ridiculous to call for him to be fired or to belittle his character over him exercising his legal and human right of speaking his beliefs. He didn't commit a crime, and he doesn't deserve worse than what criminals in the nfl get away with.
This is the best commentary I've seen in this firestorm, and it does the impossible to satisfy both sides. Spot on. Cole, it sure seems fate that you started doing this, and we are lucky to have you.
Crazy world we live in when family values causes outrage.
You think Butker was a good teammate when he threw in a Taylor Swift quote during a speech she would not of approved of? Why would Butker do that? Completely unnecessary.
Why did he randomly take a dig at the LGBT community during a commencement? It was decisive for no reason, even the nuns at that college disliked it.
Before you throw strawman arguments at me for random other things… these are the only two items I am complaining about
@evosmith12 really you've spoken to the nuns at the college? Because I actually have a friend of the family daughter who was at that commencement speech and it was extremely well received by everybody in attendance.
This is a man of deep Catholic faith giving a commencement speech at a private Catholic college, he knew his audience which apparently you don't. This is a good example of staying in your own lane

You can't make everyone happy bro, just keep speaking your truth and being king in your own way!
Props to Jones for standing up for his teammate and friend. Didnt turn his back like Pat did.
Yeah. Patrick is a good man. He's a good husband, a good christian, and a good teammate. He supports his wife, who has a career outside the home, who also is able to keep his (much busier than Butker) schedule and Pat in order, AND Patrick is such a good husband and father that he actually knows how his children are doing from spending time with them, unlike Butker who said his wife lets him know how the kids are doing.
Patrick Mahomes, isn't privileged in his beliefs. He's not bigoted. He's not misogynistic. I'll take a 1000 Mahomes over that heinous Butker any day of the week.
Nah bro Jones did the right thing you don’t go turning on your friends just because the world might hate him for his opinion I don’t think pat turned against him though he’s just not saying anything about it but I think when it comes down to it the whole team will stand with Butker if need be
When did Mahomes turn his back on Butker? Just as Butker has a right to express his beliefs, Mahomes has a right to stay quiet. If Mahomes disagrees with Butker, should he put that out there publicly or is it better for him to stay quiet and have a private conversation with Butker? Mahomes or any other player doesn't need to say anything if they don't want to, and that doesn't diminish them.
You obviously believe everything you hear in the media, When Pat said he does not talk to him he was referring to his kicking ability and how he doesn't have to talk to him and relies on him to make the field goal every time. It was said right after the Super Bowl. Now the media is brining it up to turn his words around. That is how sick this country and the world is. Butker hit a nerve and perhaps the truth hurts The reaction to his opinion is absurd. Now everyone wants his head as if he's John the Baptist.

It was a horrific speech and that is why it went national. No one would have cared otherwise. But this country is losing it's freedom because of Christian Nationalists, and Butker may call himself a Catholic but this was in no way the talk of someone other thana fanatical Christian nationalist.

I would bet good money that less than 10% of the people who signed that petition watch football...and of the 10% who do, I'll bet most of them are fans of teams other than the Chiefs.
Edited for a typo.

Great perspective Cole. Thank you for speaking truth.
I find it to be really rich that everyone backing Butker is claiming "Christian Values " while Benedictine reached out to alumni, assuring that they do not share the same Values as Butker.

My wife works, but she also agreed with Butker. The working part of his speech didn't offend her in any way and Butker instantly became her favorite player. It would have been nice to add in the information about the City of Kansas City Missouri doxxing Butker on their official X page. And also point out that the Missouri Attorney General is now investigating the city and the Mayor for discriminatory behavior. This should make those next Chiefs stadium talks go really well for KCMO. All in all, Cole, I think you handled it well.
I think it says more about the people who got so defensive about his statements. Seems like something people in denial do. Like they’re the ones freaking out over comments by a stranger. Why do they care so much about destroying him
@@Zarab923 Well said!
After Butker’s speech, my respect for him doubled. I am a female with master’s degree and didn’t get offended by his beliefs and heartfelt speech!
Can’t wait to get my Butker jersey!!! Thankful he’s not a coward like so many others who simply don’t have any courage. Good for HB!! Faith, Family, decency, respect and tune out the noise!!
Cole, Thanks for the content on this! Thanks for being objective. The "FIVE" on FOX had some great perspectives on this today. This was a private speech given at a private Catholic college. Butker was sharing his faith and beliefs with "them!" Others don't have to listen to him or agree with him. That is FREE Speech. The people who are offended talk about "intolerance" when they are actually the ones who are the most intolerant!
Finally, some sanity and good level headed thinking and response to this whole butler speech....your the best man, keep it up with the videos. I haven't missed one since finding you!!! Go chiefs!!
If Butker was a drunken party animal who has fathered a dozen children from different women, the NFL wouldn't have commented. But he's the opposite so the NFL needed to make a woke statement. I stand with Butker.
THIS!
100 percent stand with Harrison butker. He's a man of deep Catholic faith giving a commencement speech at a small private Catholic college, it was for them and not for all the idiots out here crying
@@Wyomingchief Is he a dawg for throwing a teammates GF into a speech she wouldn’t agree with? That was pointless and anything but being a good teammate.
@@Wyomingchief you’re going harder for Butker than Nikki did for Tom Brady.
The difference is that being sexually promiscuous and having as many children with as many women as you like isn't against the nfl code of conduct and doesn't pose a risk to the brand. The same can't be said about butkers speech.
He is protected by law to say what he has said, but a legal right to free speech doesn't mean a company cant take action and make a statement disavowing the speech of butker if they feel it poses a brand risk to the company.
And as of yet, the league hasn't punished butker at all. The opinions of the people criticizing him are totally fair game, the same way butkers opinion is.
Thank you for your take! My wife and I really enjoy your pod cast. Keep up the good work!
Butker is the butt-kicker for the family. That makes the world stronger!
I am very sorry that Harrison talked about his faith! Everyone should profess how he feels! He has not done anything wrong! he just spoke how he felt about religion and nothing else! Couldnt have said it better
Thank you Cole, for bringing a voice of reason for all of this chaos. What he said, whether it be right or wrong, has nothing to do with his performance as a kicker in the NFL. Therefore, let the man say what he must and continue to be one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL. Much love ❤️
Your video here about free speech regardless of your politics or religious views, as well as saying we all in society need to calm down, makes me even more glad I'm signed up to your paid UA-cam subscription. Thank you for this video.
I stand with Butker
I think people get too wrapped up in trying to cancel or silence what they don't want to hear. You don't agree with Butker or his ideas, don't listen to him. There are folks all over the internet that suggest the opposite of Butker but no one is out here trying to cancel them.
There are people from all sides that others are trying to cancel. Or the ‘go woke, go broke’ movement. I think it’s all pretty dumb & 98-99% of it is unnecessary, or misdirected.
so true
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 Nobody from the "go woke, go broke" movement signed a petition to try and get Dylan Mulvaney fired from Budweiser, they simply decided that neither Dylan nor the trans movement represented their values and took their money elsewhere. That's how cancel culture works. You are only allowed to have an opinion if it agrees with them. Otherwise you are transphobic and sexist.

My dear Cole,
I must say you handled this controversial situation perfectly. Thank you for your supurbness, for lak of better terms, and thank you for keeping us informed about our favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Personally, I'm Catholic and I agree with everything Harrison said. He is now my #1 chief. And kudos to Chris Jones for sticking up for him. Amen and How Bout Those Chiefs!
You go Cole!
Butker was spot on. My dad worked. My mom worked. I grew up as a latch key kid. When all of her kids were grown up and gone, my mom never once said that she wished she had spent more time grinding away for Corporate moguls that didn't even know her name. But she did wish a million times that she could go back to when her kids were growing up at home. Too late she learned what true joy and fulfillment was all about.
He called being gay a deadly sin.
But why is this part always directed at women? Isn't the father in the same situation? And we're not in the era anymore where men far out-earn women. That gap has been shrunk majorly and is trending towards tilting in women's favor in the not too distant future. Are we then going to tell men to stay at home? For some reason I don't think people like Harrison will do that.
I think that's more the issue. Why are career and professional dreams a thing for men...but if a woman has them, it's all about being a corporate wage-slave? That's the double-standard that exists here.
There's nothing wrong with being a stay at home mom. But there's nothing wrong with having career dreams either. Not everyone hates their job.
It could be as simple as people saying "it's cool if you work, it's cool if you stay at home". But we're human beings, and most people have agendas to push. You're never going to have full agreement when it comes to that.
@@neatoburrito9013yes, as a married catholic man with children, I'm sure he feels that way about many sins.

Props to you Cole for taking a nuanced stance on a controversy that's at the end of the day about one man freely expressing his beliefs. I may not personally agree with the things Harrison said, but I fully support his right to say them.
You know our country is in trouble when a person can't have their own opinion, voice that opinion in a professional setting, and then has people trying to ruin their life. This country is really getting messed up.
I don't necessarily agree with what his views are, but to call for his job is silly. I don't want to get fired for my views. I guess that's why I keep it to myself though.
I appreciate your efforts to be neutral as I have tried to do. Not sure how any of the folks signing a petition to fire him feel that is within their purview, but if the Chiefs cave to this mob, my disdain for team administration can know no bounds.
It's absolutely within their purview. It's THEIR free speech. That's the way it works. You exercise your right to offend people by speaking freely; they exercise their right to argue they no longer want to watch you on a football field after hearing what you said. Now it's up to your employer, a businessman, to decide whether you remain an asset to his business or a liability.
No one is going to cut a world class kicker because of what he has to say about religion, and if there is 50 thousand signatures for his release then they must be from some where besides Kansas City, yes the mayor in k.c. Mo is an idiot, and should be recalled and his city council too@@BTinSF

Harrison Butker knew that this would be the reaction. Although he got a standing ovation at the school the internet is heated which, to say the least, is to be expected for someone with beliefs that are not left-winged. I agree with Mr. Butker to the T and if others don't that is fine because they are entitled to their own opinion. Honestly, I am glad that Harrison is facing the world without budging from his beliefs we need more people like this. God bless Harrison Butker for his strength, America for its freedom of speech, and you Cole for always making amazing Chiefs content.
What struck me about the discussion on a certain Chiefs news site was how many people equated Butker's WORDS with Rice's ACTIONS. Crazy. My own observations indicated to me that the majority of nastiness was coming from those who ... disagreed ... with him. Seems to me the most offended by his comments strike me as ones who feel guilty about their choices.
This is out of control. So you can Believe whatever you want and do whatever you want, right? We can have people influence children in the wrong way and that doesn't get backlash, but as soon as a man talks about family values, order in the household, and how to be a man of God. Now the world wants to go crazy? If A man cannot stand up for order, and leadership in the household, what are we doing?? America is lost!!
The best commentary on this subject! Thank you!
God bless this man and having the balls to speak truth. All the haters can simmer in their rotten little holes they crawl out of
