That last trick on clipper was probably one of the coolest tricks ever (I’ve skated over 20 years). Just the motion and the way he got in and the sound when he landed. So good.
great video man thanks for the edit such a great contest so cool to see the respect for previous generations in the tribute tricks and so insane how gnarly the sport has progressed shit is really mind boggling. hollywood high could be sick. so much has gone down there could be cool way to pay homage the spot almost closing a chapter on it and really cementing its place in the history of skating
Lucky to have been at 2 of these contest! Seeing pros fully sending it in person is just a different experience... I cant even begin to explain how high The Boss popped that varial heel down that 16! Another crazy contest ive got to go to was Back to the Burg. Witnessing the destruction of that spot by Chris Cole during his New Blood era was EPIC!
I'm 47 and skateboarding will always be goat. the vibe the people the tricks probably the most fun in life. Even if u skate mid there nothing like hearing all the other skaters say "YEAHHHH!!" when u land a cool trick. Priceless
I love bust or bail but as a skater these guys almost die the rewards should be bigger then 3000 gs lol I mean it should be like at least 10 gs these athletes put their lives on the line for us to enjoy amazing performances and video parts I know they make money but I mean as far as the contest go , the rewards for winning should be bigger like that front 180 over the blocks an curb
@@johnbutler2780 💯 and I always thought professional skaters were always underpaid they would have to sell there extra boards signed an there trucks an shiiiat just to make it buy like Josh an Stevie Williams
The first BoB was on a Saturday at the end of August in 2008 in San Francisco at a school called Paul Revere Elementary just off of Folsom at 555 Tompkins Ave. I memorized the spot back then because we left that prior Friday after school (I was a senior) and carpooled from LA all the way up to SanFran, did some night skating until like 4am, crashed out in skme grass at a park near the BoB spot, then skated there early and had to wait 2 hours because it didn't start till 1pm. Still, got to skate with some legends and my personal favorite moment was Moose's huge BS 360 over the rail. Being there in person and seeing him throw down such a steezy trick beyond textbook, really set the mood for the entirety of the event. Anyway, being younf and going on a skate trip like that back then, was so magical. Looking back on it reminds me of some weird coming of age in California movie. 😂 Big Tricks format judged by Jake Phelps and John Cardiel
I had the chance to come to Frisco in 99 (I'm French), I was there for my work but I could enjoy some days around, I remember having a great night at some pub in Folsom, there were 3 bands, Lonely Kings, Loadstar and another one I can't remember... And there I also bought many CDs, and my copy of Beastie Boys Hello Nasty was bought over there, Haight street, not too far from the park... I was 21, great memories from that time, we were young, a lot of things to discover or... endure... :)
Just want to point out, brodie penrod switch laser flipped that double set, and wasn't even pro. that's my top skater who should have went pro but never did
What's up with the tribute tricks falling short of givin pro's from the 9 O's there propers? Like at "Cinco de slammo" spot. If Im not mistaken, Chad Night did a switch backside flip at least down the double. And a backside tre body as well. I'm doubting that it was the triple but double for sho! Nevertheless show yo love for who shed blood for the cause cuz. Maple squad Chad Night I think. And his right hand like man Dave Coin did some type of finger flippage down that bitch. Also I'm almost positive Sean Sheffy the mothafuckin man did shit I can't even really call it. But if memory serves me right he shut that shit down mid 90's with not one, not two, but at least a few hail Mary type of maniac flip shit down that shit. And I can't think of anyone else Killin it like this.
2:54 its 100% a frontside over crooked grind. A nose grind is a nose manual (sometimes scratched). Crooked grinds are CROOKED, the fron wheel is pinched and the board is 45 degrees from the rail. I dont understand the controversy. Prove me wrong.
D Way came back from a serious neck injury and told me ( the day before he left for the vert contest ) that he was gonna win the vert contest he was entering. I was living with him at the time and he came home and gave me the droors t shirt he won the contest in . Should have kept it ✌
@Top10Sk8 good question lol I guess at the time i didn't think much of it since I grew up around half the h street team and living in North San Diego county . When i got older i realized that that would have been something cool to have. I still look up to Danny ❤
That shit was the most sickest trick done that day tbh. But the other 3 did multiple crazy things down it I'm guessing that's why. He shoulda won best trick or sumn though. I'm pretty sure Phelps threw him a couple hundred though.
My only disagreement is with Tommy Sandoval's placement on the triple set ranking. He was the only one who cleared the gap with his trick, so he deserves #1. Won't deny that the other tricks were more gnarly but fair is fair
I was there at the first bust or bail. You forgot to include the first guy to set it off (jay something?) who went for a bs boardslide and sacked the end of the rail to scorpion on his face. Was gnarly af and set the tone for the contest!
you missed a bust or bail, one that was truly legendary. The 2nd bust or bail was at wallenberg, i was there and it was truly insane. chris cole switch fs and 360ing it was one of the craziest things ive ever seen irl.
Andrew Langi 100% did an overcrook. If you look at his crooked grind then look at the overcrook. He literally goes over the rail to a crooked grind. Just hate hearing that being called nose grind because there is a very large difference between nose grind and overcrook even on a round rail.
