He was running around because it was 4th down and there were 9 seconds left. This happened because Tennessee's coach decided to be an absolute ass and use his last timeout when the game was beyond out of reach.

Don't get me wrong.. it is EXTREMELY improbable, but was hypothetically and statistically possible.
To walk around in the backfield as Florida's QB was, when there's some actual time on the clock, and expect the defense not to rush and tackle you on a run play is the actual crazy part here.
This should not have been a penalty, the QB was scurrying around in the backfield, inviting the defense to nail him, and right before he gets "plowed", he takes a knee. The defensive player could not have stopped his contact with the QB after he made his commit to tackle him.

No, just like with any slide, once it starts and you hit him, its a late hit and they could have called targeting.
There was no late hit. Instead of taking a knee on the snap like he should have, he decided to run with it, therefore he was attempting a play, and TN was going to sack him as they should have.
I mean as far as the initial hit goes that's what happens when you fuck around and wait too long to kneel it on 4th down instead of punting the ball, plus the defensive linemen kept it pretty light once he realized it. It was totally clean.

The play should not have happened, and there really isn't any reason for the D lineman to be tackling anybody at all. Just let the clock run out, Florida wasn't trying to score they were trying to end the game.

I agree that the quarterback could have taken a knee since the game was over. But since the game was over the Tennessee coach should not have called that timeout and the Tennessee player should have left the Florida quarterback alone. Tennessee was upset and let their emotions get the best of them.

All kinds of wrongs on this play. My take anyway. Josh Heupel calling a TO with 0.9 left and down 29-16. Billy Napier not punting on 4th and 16. I'm a Gators fan but the qb running around in the backfield is just asking for it. Tenn. is upset they lost. They're a little hot but he was fair game. He made a little head contact but this play should have never happened. Great win for Fl. Little disappointed with Heupel on this and Napier. Hope no suspensions were handed out.

Punting the ball wiuld have been the more accurate play. As long as the ball stays inbounds clock most likely would have run out before a play could be made by Tennessee, but if the clock didn't run out a single play would have been all that was available. There was pettiness by both teams at the end here. Could have easily been avoided.

It's very common, and more of the norm, when there's 7 seconds left to just kneel. What's not common and makes no sense is calling a timeout to let your players feel the loss a little longer rather than just gettin out of there. Stupid

They actually got the AD & coaches involved and got the players back onto the field after this and forced Tenn to hike the ball and end the game.
as a vol fan i have to give the Gators credit they came in ready to play, I dont know what the Vols came in ready for? Seems as though they gave up in the first quarter. The truth is the VOLS were outplayed, outcoached, MILTON is supposed to have this great strong arm i dont understand why it wasnt used, This new highly touted VOL defense? where was it? As it stands at present the schedule does not favor the VOLS, The question is have the VOLS retreated back to where they were three years ago? There is a lot to clean up before they meet SOUTH CAROLINA, As a VOL fan i will never give up on them but they have not been anywhere near as explosive as they were last season and if they dont get the penalities and defensive play cleaned up its going to be a long and disappointing season.

I'm okay with the Tennessee hit. If the QB wants to keep dancing around trying to bleed time, then he has to risk a hit. He can't commit to the knee at the last second once the defense is right on top of him. Maybe they should change the rules where taking a knee is similar to spiking the ball to stop the clock. You either do it right away or else you run the play in full or get a penalty.
The only gripe I have with Tennessee is it was a two score game and impossible to win by that point.

He took a late knee you can see he keep going until he seen him take a knee then he tried to slow down in hitting him if you don't wanna get hit then take the knee immediately

If you are going to dance around behind the line like that the opponent has no chance but to push you down because they have momentum from the chase. He had plenty of time to take a knee but he didn’t, so he got tapped. No big deal.
