these guys have great vision. the features, colours, design... very sleek and clean. feels like a home and not just a van or RV.
Nice vid.
Drilling holes in Corners (fan install) also reduces risk of cracks or splits in roof. Sharp, right angles actually Create a weak point where the axis meet. So, in addition to giving a point of entry for jigsaw blade, as opposed to creating one from plunge-cut it creates a smooth perimeter. FWIW
Great idea using Reflectix as a template for the plywood.
Also, I was wondering about leaving gaps between the plywood sections. Now I know that it is a good idea.
Protip: Instead of using coins to cover your holes in the van, use the metal knockouts from power junction boxes. You can also cut pieces out of the roof vent section that you just removed. I know. It saves you a TON of money to do it that way.
Thanks for watching! And for the pro tips!
@@scarletandseth So how do you keep the coins in place? Superglue?
@@dimitristsagdis7340 I believe they're using Sika Flex
One of the most informative build videos I've seen in a long time. Awesome job.
Check out some of the Vans RV home-built aircraft channels and look at riveting, specifically pop rivets. May be a less involved way to get the roof vent and other fixtures hung.
Great build, sweet couple.. Both of them seem very clear and genuine..👍
Loving the extra details you guys are including with this van. Love thosr cubby holes you have included too. Great use of space. Looking forward next Wednesday!
Thank you!!
OMG love how much u go into detail about everything while showing us. U guys are helping me push myself to start building my van by the time I turn 19 😍😍😍 love u guys and ur work and can’t wait to see what u have in store for all of us!!!

Thanks Nate! We are excited to be out of the base stage in this first episode with exciting things to come!
Much love!! You guys are awesome
You guys have brought me such unexpected joy this lockdown. Really wish you every happiness in your endeavours - and your travels, when it's safe to hit the road again.
Thank you so much! That has honestly been out goal in all of this so it warms our hearts to hear that. 😊
Agreed! I'm living alone and I love to learn new DIY things. This channel has been a God-send! Thanks guys!

Greetings from Germany 🤙
Thanks Paul! 🤙🏼
Nice job bringing us along on the build! Thanks soooo much!! Learning a lot for when I do mine! I am looking forward to the next!
Very nice inspiring couple and work. Congrats
Thank you!
Love the detail so when I make my own van build I have a much better reference and the process seems less scary now 👍
Awesome! Happy to help!
The little piece of advise yall give at 8.30 gives me true peace lmao
i love watching your build series! im curious what made you choose the wool insulation vs the kind you used last vs some people use spray foam insulation. sending you good vibes! thank you for this amazing series
love from South Africa
Thank you!
honestly you have made some of the nicest, most innovative vans Ive seen. Curious deep are those cubbies from wood wall to van wall? 10cm?
I just started on my van! It's a 2003, so the first thing I'm doing is stripping and removing the rust. So the first step you guys did, feels weeks away right now 😅 I'm doing this conversion all by myself at 17 years old 😁
I remember that stage! We have a 2004 that we took about a month to get through that same process on! Keep at it, it’s worth every second!
The major name brand of the braided sleeve you're using to protect your wire is Tech Flex. You can get VERY good pricing since you're using it as an assembly item for business. They offer a tool called the "Rapid Sleeving Installer". It's not the cheapest thing ever, but you can make your own super easily if you take a good look at how it works. It makes installing the braided sleeve SO FAST
Also, if you use a hot knife to cut it, the ends will never fray on you.
Excellent practical advice. Question: How is the Reflectix and subfloor plywood connected to the van floor? Adhesive? Screws? Floating? Other? Thanks!
I have the promaster too, stupid question maybe, what size screws did you use to go into the vans pre-made holes? Theres a lot of different size holes as you can see, but any thoughts? Thanks great to see you guys again, yos
Hey! I was wondering what kind of wood/ wood thickness you used for the studs? I'm struggling to find a wood flexible enough to bend with the vans curves here in Aus
Hey guys. I love your work. Where can I find the rest of this van build series?
Great job cute couple
Hello, I’m a big fan of your channel all the way from Ghana and I’d really like to ask if it’s possible on your next build to include a bathroom. Reason being your van builds are ideal and literally the perfect build quality and of realy like to start the van community here but I’d realy like a bathroom in my van build.
YOU 👏 GUYS 👏 ARE 👏 KILLING 👏 IT 👏 Any chance you wanna hop over the pond for20 days to finish our build off with us? 😂 x
Yeah, we want to get 2 of the MaxxAir Deluxe, problem is, since COVID, the price has doubled to $600+. Thanks for the vid though.
Yeah! We saw that as well. It’s pretty unfortunate
I follow your channel but didn’t know ya go back 3 years ago…..wow! Thats a lot of progress and hard work. Love your builds……
Do you still use wool insulation?
We used thinsulate on our most recent builds and love it!
Nice
Thanks!
I'm really liking you channel! I am starting my van build soon and i have bought most of the components...I'm just a little confused on what size wires to get. What gauge wires are you using to run your fan, lights, and all the appliances? Do you have a Amazon link?
Hey Mike! Check out the links in the description!! We used 16g for the small 12v appliances!
What did you guys use to hold the wool to the ceiling? Some type of adhesive?
What kind of screws did you use to drill first layer of strapping into the metal van frame ? great stuff guys ✌️
Heavy duty metal screws. They were countersunk I’m so it was flush.
Was it glass wool insulation that you used?
Rockstars
Love the detailed info on the van build. May I ask how much wool insulation did you have to buy to do this particular build? Also did you screw the plywood down, or just letting it float? Thanks again for the info.
I was also wondering if the plywood was screwed to the floor or just floating. I hope you find a minute to answer this question. Thanks.
@louisthevan What kind and thickness of plywood did you use on the ceiling please?
Hi guys! Thank you so much for this video! I will be watching again and again as I am about to embark on my/our first vanbuild!
I have a question on the reflective pads/wide tape you put on the bare walls and wheel house before insulating.
Why do you put that there?
I see a lot of people doing that but I’ve never gotten an explanation to why.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Thor from Sweden
Hi Thor, if you're refering to the Kilmat product they apply in patches before insulating: it is used for sound deadening.
@@jillianjiggs1988 Thank you! That was what I was referring to 🤩
So what about coming over to Portugal and help us convert our van 😀😀😀😀 we are living at a beautiful place at sea 😉
I watch a LOT of these things and you guys might be my favourite.
Question: van is 6' wide and bed pulls out to 43" which makes your kitchen cabinetry 29" deep. Is that right? If so, is there a reason for making it deeper than standard?
Thanks!
Thank you!!!
Nope! The back storage behind the couch needs to be calculated into that. The kitchen cabinetry is 24 inches deep!
Third time's the charm.
Thanks!
Can we have more details about the wiring? What is each wire and what not to forget. You will be my primary source of information when I build mine. Love the team you two make.
There are several gauges of wiring used. Everything including the loom can be found in the description box of the video! We get into a bit more specifics once the solar is up and running the batteries, but the main thing is to remember all your lights and 12v appliances! We also recommend running some extra wires for the future!
@@scarletandseth Nice thanks!
how much Rockwool did you have to purchase? great build thanks for posting its so detailed and easy to watch!
It really depends on the van you have! A lodger van would obviously use more. I know they also sell it at home depot/Lowe’s and we used 2 large packages and had a bit left over.
Great i also have the 136 promaster so u enjoy watching this!
Nice concepts designs on the van, something that may help you is Combe Valley campers in uk YT with your insultations, good luck with the Channel. Subbed
Yay
Thanks David!
Hi cat! Here to supervise haha
As always!! She keeps us on track!
Louis The Van does she travel in the van with you two?
I didn’t want this to end! Can’t wait for the whole series
are u guys gonna do a 4th van?
Hopefully!
Who is their investors? Amazing job!
No investors! It’s just us in a garage! Haha
nice one..if you had explained wiring little bit more would be very helpfull and thats the most difficult part..
How much your van cost ?
I see so many people like "yeah so it took us 9 months to covert our van, 2 years etc snd u guys here did all of this is 20 fracking days
Yeah 9 months is probably a more realistic timeline for most builds! Our first one took 4 and was a much smaller van than this.
You should name these videos in sequential order.
They are in a playlist I order on the channel’
Where are u located???
apart from that fantastic
Can you publish the price please?
I am 67 years old and you might think I’m crazy but I really want to do this is it possible I have a little experience could I do this in 90 days by myself is anybody out there willing to coach me???
Great videos and excellent work on your vans. Instead of wasting all those coins, have you considered just getting something like this instead? amzn.to/3bKk8Aw It costs the mint a lot of money to make currency, and using it as building materials is wasteful beyond the monetary value.
Great idea! We looked but never found something like this!
@@scarletandseth Thank you so much! I am so glad that you found the idea helpful. I didn't want to sound petty, and thought maybe there was a good reason for using coins that I wasn't thinking of. Please keep up the great work. Your videos are entertaining and informative.
