Always good to water proof as much as possible. That tape is expensive, in my opinion; good investment though to prevent future maintenance.

Quick question : why not use spray foam instead of pink wool around the window frame?
I’m also renovating my house and I just had a catastrophic water leak and rotten wood from my cracked patio door. My subfloor had rotted, my ceramic floor cracked, a big mess. I was able to remove most of the rotten wood around the frame, dry the rest and use injectable epoxy with epoxy paste (liquid wood kit), reglue the and seal the crack with epoxy (it was the lower frame that cracked) and I redid the frame insulation with foam and such.
The frame repair is temporary until I get the cash to change the door entirely (it’s shitty at best, and it’s cold in the winter…)
I’ll sure do your tape trick when I’ll change the windows and that damn patio door.
I live in the freaking winter and the summer is crazy hot with torrential rain. (Canada)
