People wanna act like these stories aren't based in actual experience. Really shows who never knew an immunocompromised person the way some are so quickly to reject the reality, whether the TV version is fiction or not.

You're so right. I'm immunocompromised, on a ventilator etc due to a terminal illness. Covid for me, would be deadly. Heck, a regular cold could be deadly for me. During covid, it really sucked to see people online complaining about being in lockdown to protect people like me. Saying essentially I should die, for their convenience

@@unknownentity7964 I'm sorry to hear that but hope you are enjoying the now as best you can.
I'm personally not IC but I lived through covid with my bff who has lupus and other conditions. I'm a restaurant worker and my industry was hit the hardest I still believe, was working hostess at the time and had to contend with employers who didn't wanna follow local mandates and guests who wanted to argue about masks. All while the very real risk of death loomed over my family. I hate to see the ignorance from people who would shamelessly risk the lives of those around them. They're no different from a reckless driver imho.

God, this is EXACTLY how I felt during covid. I couldn't handle being in the same house, let alone room all the time. I'm always on-edge when people talk about another pandemic happening in the future.

I also injured myself like June. It's the one way i found that no one will question other then your chewing your nails. Even though i bleed no one questions it. I would be careful with anyone that chews their nails especially around the skin or to the point of bleeding.

So many of us, parents, have been so busy keeping our children well and healthy, to the best of our (limited) abilities, that we forgot to let them be kids. This pervasive fear did a number on everyone.

0:45 hard relate. There are those of us who were isolated before the pandemic (for various reasons - medical, geography, household problems), and no one really paid attention. During the pandemic, I had more of a social life than during the five years prior. Now, everyone else is out of lockdown. Back to the before times, indeed.

    • @unknownentity7964

I completely relate, unfortunately. During lock down, people were happy to do zoom quizzes, zoom meetuos, movie nights... All the things that I'd been begging them to do with me for years, but they wouldn't. I'm on a ventilator, immunocompromised due to a terminal illness that leaves me mostly bed bound. Obviously I was happy for other people when they got to go back to their 'normal' lives, but my heart still aches because I got to have a taste of having a social life again during covid. Only for it to stop again...

I worked in an office with a team but still felt isolated. COVID forced our office closed for 2 years. Working at home just fed my isolation so now i am retired and it is just easier to stay in bed. My mobility challenges prevent me from going out without relying on anyone else. My loss of independence is worse than covid.

I remember during the lockdown I was studying mindfulness to help, and it did, I turned it into a time of reflection and self study. Books like "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels and the Tao Te Ching were helpful. It was not an easy time.

That facetime with the parents is so infuriating but also needed to understand a crucial point. Parents often do this, they do something telling themselves it's for/about their kids but in truth, it's for/about themselves. If parents around the world took this habit of stopping for a moment and ask themselves "who am I doing this for?", the world would be a better place.

@@twothousandandchew Fiction can be based on completely real experiences but use otherwise a completely fictional cast and setting. Doesn't mean the experiences they're based on don't happen. They're based on real experience for a reason. Just because something is fiction doesn't mean the moral of the story is just as fictional. They teach you that in school, skipping school or just far removed?
