  • Part V of the documentary interview series with Pyrros Dimas, one of the greatest Olympic weightlifters of all time. In this segment Dimas talks about the years from Sydney to Athens, when he struggled with injuries and the realities of being an aging athlete. He also talks about what it was like to win a fourth Olympic medal, his best training lifts, and reflects on his success. Plus a few behind the scenes outtakes from the interviews we conducted! We hope you enjoy this installment (and the entire series).

    Thank you for this heartwarming series, David. Pyrros is a Greek athletic icon, a titan of global weightlifting, but above all a great human being.

    Who knows how long it’ll be till Greece sees another pyrros .. if ever .. he was one of a kind of his era, truly remarkable during his prime years and the fact he still managed to get 170+kg snatch with a hurt wrist and set back on one of his legs is beyond impressive I could easily see him winning his gold medal in Athens if injury was out of the picture, hopefully one day I can meet him it’ll be a dream come true, I’ve talked to him on FB messenger and that’s as closed as I got to meeting him haha. Thanks for this video!

    Congratulations I have to give it an 8 out of 10. I saw all five of the videos. It was wonderful. YOU just left out a few things like an interview with his fellow coaches, athletes, his family, etc. How he came to Greece. What about pictures of him when he was young. No pictures or interview or any length of his wife, kids, his brother, mom, ect. Other than that just him sitting it WAS wonderful. If you had filled these other spots this will have been the best of the best documentary. Still a very, very, very good job. We are just begging for more.

    Thank you for creating this David, it's a brilliant documentary. I'd also love to see it without the dubbing - is there any possibility of alternative version being released? Thanks!

    Thank you so much for this great documentary. I've discovered Pyrros's story recently and he's become one of my heroes ever since. Could you give me the name of the track we can hear at the end of the video ? Cheers from France.

    Hi David, thanks for the videos.
    They are a highlight!
    One question I think hasn't been answered in the videos, at the Sidney Olympics, after the 3rd (successful attempt) Dimas was pointing on his chest or heart.
    I mean I can imagine, what it could mean, but would be interesting to hear from him.
    If there is any chance to find out.
    All the best,
    Christian.

      @DavidBoffa  7 років тому +1

      Hi Christian: Thank you! It's great to hear you enjoyed them. I don't think this question came up during our interview sessions but I'll double check. In any case, I'll see if he's open to answering the question next time we see him! I agree--it'd be cool to hear it from him.
      Thank you again!
