Thanks for the detailed video. I recently installed the Tesla universal wall connector, my Rivian doesn’t seem to be charging at all. Have you even faced this issue?
For non Tesla's, it takes longer for the wall connector to connect to the car. My R1S goes white->red->white->green then starts charging. I have to wait about 30+secs for the car to start charging.
If that doesn't work for you. I have read that the wall connector may need an update to charge non Tesla's. So put in a ticket and they should be able to fix that for you.
Thank you for the clear explanation. Do you know if in the future Rivian allows bidirectional charging a Rivian Wall connector is a must?
RJ has said the car is already capable. However, if I were to take a wild guess, the Rivian wall charger is not capable of being able to go V2H. It's a pretty basic wall charger TBH. Maybe another reason I didn't bother going with that product.
If I were to do V2H, I'd probably go with Enphase's product they have coming out in the next year or two. That seems like a really capable product and on top of that, I have an Enphase solar system as it is. So that product makes sense in my case.
All you really need is a capable charger. However, I don't know if there are many on the market right now. You'd probably have to look for products in development. We're still a few years away from V2H at best.

Is the Tesla charger weatherproof? I am about to get a Rivian and it specifically says it is weatherproof on their website but wouldnt mind saving the couple hundred if I could get the Tesla one installed outside instead.
Yup. A lot of people will go with the Tesla wall connector over a NEMA 14-50 if the EVSE will be mounted outside specifically because it is waterproof.
I use a Tesla Wall connector to charge my Rivian too. I use an adaptor and it charges fine at 25 miles per hour. However, the green led on the Tesla Wall connector stopped lighting up ( but it still charges the Rivian). Thoughts as to why the green leds failed.
Hmm...that's weird. I wonder if that's a communication issue? I assume you have a Tesla as well and the green light comes up for that car? Comms is all I can think of. Ours has always lit up green on our Rivian.

I think I would still go with the universal wall connector because it's more versatile and better looking IMO.
curious what your stats were on the different chargers was.... I have the level 2 tesla charger and wanted to see how many miles per hour you were getting. I pickup my rivian next month.
I've never had the Rivian wall charger, only the Tesla wall connector.
I would look at it in kW, not MPH. This is because MPH is going to be different with each car based on how big the battery is. So it's not really an accurate figure. That said, my J1772 Tesla wall connector charges the Rivian at 11.5kW. That's the max power the charger will go on any car. "25 MPH" if you will, on a Rivian.

Do not over torque the wiring, this is actually just as dangerous as under torquing!
Absolutely. Torque screw driver is a must!
