I'm SOOO excited about this one Brian! The EF platform was my intro to the Honda world, and still my all-time favorite. You're basically building my dream weekend fun car!
I'm currently doing a brake swap on my em1 sir running type r/prelude/crv/accord 17cl15vn calipers and mini r56 280mm rotors and tsx pads. Can't wait to test the setup this year at the track. The tsx pads are a bit shorter then what you'd use with the 17cl15vn calipers so that they don't overhang on the mini rotors and creating a heat sink effect when they wear.
Both Brians have so much knowledge! I genuinely LOOOVE my big brake kit from FastBrakes for my rex. Really do stop on a dime! Amazing customer service and easy to work with. 👌
Great video Brian - could you please share that Centric Part # for the 15/16" master cylinder ?? Mine is on its way out and I would love to upgrade at the same time.
To all old 80s - 90s Honda owners I STRONGLY recommend replacing all rubber brake hoses. On my 96 Civic EX with hawk pads and BFG pro comp 2 tires, I was testing the brake lock up point (on an empty highway) from 60-70 and on the 3rd try blew out my driver's side brake rubber hose. I'm thankful it happened then and not in an actual situation where I needed to stop that quickly and could have seriously hurt myself or someone else. If it's a daily driver just get OEM if they still make it. Think about it, it's lasted 20-30 years so you know it'll last another 20 or 30 more. Honda doesn't offer the drivers side front hose for my car anymore. But Centric & Beck/Arnley do and they are reputable companies. SS lines could trap dirt, debris & salt and could chaffe causing the hose to fail.
Well.. I bought a set of rear disc brakes off a wrecked EF years ago. Recently I started to restore the setup to swap onto my EF hatch and when it came time to do the bushing come to find out my set is from a DA. So a little bummed that I got a setup that's not really recommended but could work. I dont plan to race my car so think it would be fine.
Hey Brian I have an ef as well I just got my new mount in the mail today. Thanks again for your great customer service and warranty program . Just wondering if you might have any leads and the jdm from filler panel I've been searching for a long time and can't find one .
I did EX 10.5" rotors and ITR calipers - my way to balance 'too much brake' is to run RE71-Rs all the time, haha. I'd probably do the EX calipers if i did it again, to save some weight.
Just cause he didn't get detailed: be sure to order "G60" corrado rotors otherwise you will get a five lug rotor. I used that same thing including his rings on my old track car with wilwood calipers.
Love this, guys! Learned a lot and love that the upgrades are all basically Honda OEM parts.
40/40 valve info was especially appreciated!
Thanks guys.. Answered the questions 40/40 prop valve question.
I have the fastbrakes kit on my 89 CRX and it stops on a DIME! Great products guys.
My first thought: "how did I miss this channel, and am not subscribed?". Second thought: "can these guys be my neighbors?". Awesome stuff guys.
I went with the integra type r caliper and Mini cooper rotors. It is a direct bolt on if you have Ef EX knuckles or DA Knuckles.
Can you run a 15" wheel with that set up?

Any links on the items you bought? A list of items needed to swap rear drums to disk?
Love that kit on mine keep up the good work

I do not. I would talk to the people at Hmotorsonline, ICB motorsport, or JHPUSA. The are going to have more experience with finding these parts.
@@VTECAcademy thanks I'll hit them up .
When are you going to willow springs with your hatch Brian?
Eg DX I just put on rear disc took the prop valve from a del sol guess I didn't have to charge it..
