Great deals can be had at the salvage yard, but like any good Boy Scout you need to be prepared or you may miss them. Back in the day I used to grab all the $300 K24s and $250 J-series manual transmissions I could. My success was dependent on having the tools needed to do the job. Let me show you "How to Yard" the VTEC Academy way (Apologies to Robert at Hush Performance). Here's what's in my bag.

every time i take something out of my yard bag cause i've never used it, never fails next trip i need it! and one day i'll clean out the 20lbs + of honda bolts at the bottom of my bag
if you like the knipex cutters, then you should try the knipex water pump pliers.

Don't forget extra cash just in case your 10mm 12mm gets lost so you can buy a new one. lol
I keep stock in my box to sell to those that lost them at the yard.
Awesome vid. What’s size sockets are on that rail?
10, 12,14,l 17, 19 for the 3/8ths sockets. Shallow and deep.

question, when you find things at the junk yard, how much does it cost?
That depends on where you are. Here in Phoenix, we can buy K-series engines for about $300 and manual transmissions for about $250. D, B and H-series are the same.
