A time when ITV was a serious, entertaining and professional TV station, now you have Loose women and Ant and Dec
Spot on. When TV didnt try to dumb down for the thickest members of society
agreedos🐱👍🏿
@@version736ha2 i stand with thee
@@version736ha2 you’re a smooth brained thicko mate.
And the rest 😂😂😂😂
Lovely days. I miss them.
Yes, the 70’s 👍🏻
These clips are, IMHO , priceless.Clear views back to Simpler and less stressful times. Thank You.
Вот вы себя и раскрыли, товарищ Штирлиц.
@@mirisch64 Who is/was Comrade Stirlitz ?
I enjoyed this. Amazing how they were already close to fitting ABS on motorcycles back then, esp light weight 2 stroke bikes.
waaaaang waaaaaaan ting ting ting
It's good to see some more vintage auto/motoring-related clips on this channel again. Thank you!
Sorry, I completely missed the first section on the motorcycle abs system, I couldn't concentrate on anything but those trousers.
Those flares are probably an aid to slowing down from speed too
bell bottoms i will have you know! twice as silly. i know i had to walk around in the bloody things
Love old Thames TV. ..The informative format and the style of received pronunciation of the presenters and the hues and saturation of the VHS and reel tapes used for broadcast , I miss that feel..
We were working on this in the 70's yet were one of the last country's to fit them to our cars
@ 01:30 - The trousers, the posture..!😂
Yes, I couldn’t stop looking at them and the shoes. Great days though!😀
😂😂
That second Morris marina looked like a TR7 at the front.
Still exists too at the Gaydon Motor Museum..
REALLY???? no way lol. Gotta say it does look awesome though.
Yes they have a few there including a mini with what looks like an mgb front
They built another one with a pedestrian-catching cage that sprang up from the front.
@@nkt1 They trialled one with a sprung board in the nose that scooped up cyclists and flung them over the roof to land in a messy heap behind you. For some reason it never really caught on. Shame really.
No flared trousers were harmed during the filming.
Gotta love the flared. Trousers.
!970's safety films now outshine 2020's mainstream tv.
Getting them flares caught in ya chain would have a similar effect to ABS.
Great programme! Sad it took so long for antilock brakes to make it to motorcycles. They're a wonderful technology.
When itv had brains.
I think the most impressive element of that report was the first presenter's flairs. Any sign of trouble and those flairs would stop anyone in their tracks....
That Jeff/Geoff was quite the stuntman..
Not in the league of, say, Evel Knievel, perhaps, but there were some serious obstacles in his way.
And Jeff/Geoff?
He remained stoic throughout!
Jeff/Geoff - we salute you.
Made a bit of a pigs ear of pulling away though.
@@rob5944 Mmmm, pig's ears... My parents' Toy Poodles and Mini Schnauzers loved to chew the heck out of those things.
@@ModMokkaMatti not sure if they recommend them for dogs anymore.
yumyum miss those 2 stroke twins!!
1976 was lowest point for men's fashion
I'm thankful that I was all of only 4 years old at the time, and more oblivious to how bad it truly was. Looking at early childhood photos taken at that time is not pleasant for that reason, amongst others.
You did not 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
The guy looked a dead ringer for Jacob Rees-Mogg ... a distant relative maybe
I thought that
I was thinking same or an uncle 😂
@@paulillingworth1242 even the voice 😁
That is Mr Richard Hudson-Evans who is a classic car expert and still in the business !
Which guy? Richard Evans or Tony Bastable?
1:07, a huge difference between the ani-lock and conventional braking.
Shaw Taylor! “Keep ‘em peeled”.
Did they do a safety video for flared trousers .
Wonder how much the friction from the anti spill bars helped the motorcycle to stop?
Meanwhile, a standard Marina doesn't like corners very much, locks up its back brakes and folds like an orangeade can upon impact. 😊
And it took 18! more years to come with the BMW K-100 and costs a whopping 2000 DM. About 1900 € today.
Oh my Goodness, trousers and collar shirts 😂😂😂🤣
Was that bike an RS200?
It's either a Yamaha RD125DX or a RD200DX ..
The RS200 came in the early 80's 👍
rekkle tok vindo?
2.49 The first look at Shaw's new sexy medallion.
Staying alive staying alive
Where's Basshead???
Maybe you have to say that name three times to find out, like with Beetlejuice. I'd strongly advise you to not do that though. 😂
In the Bassbin presumably.
@@ModMokkaMatti Yeah, last time I did that I fell through a wormhole, had to take a week off work.
We need more Tony Bastible types these days, a pompous, slightly holier than thou presenter. Folk today have gone to the dogs with their liberty.... bahhh !
Maybe it's just me as a Yank and how I perceive his presence from afar; a distance of both a vast ocean and most of the North American continent. It seems to me that Mr. Bastable actually knew something of what he was speaking about and was imparting an education, unlike the dunces parading around the media field and demanding to be respected for their hackneyed vapidity/self-assesed comic value, in the years since his time.
presenter wearing a long maxi skirt - 1.14; said the be the first trans-sexual on tv
why are they testing technology that is already well proven ? , cars had anti lock brakes in the 80`s , it`s not a new thing !
“highly scientifically designed padding”. Yeah, sure.
Look at those clothes, bloody awful for blokes
