What a great interview Misty! Some of the points you made on finding balance in your life for all the things we try to be and do for others really hit home. I always make my "hobby" come last and then wonder why I'm feeling down. I need to be more mindful of giving myself that which brings me so much joy and fulfillment which is my quilting.

I love the concept of a pizza/craft sharing night with the family. A great way to break the “screen” habit and enjoy a family activity. The pride of making something goes a long way in building confidence.

I appreciate Homespun's focus on other crafts, too, not just sewing. 😊 Ashlee Elle's granny square sweater is so cute!

I learned to crochet when I was 7 yrs. Old, my grandmother taught me!
I taught both my grandchildren a boy and a girl when they were about 7 or 8 years old! A wonderful craft!

I barely learned crochet in high school. I came back many years later and learned new stitches. I have made each grandchild a special blanket.

I remember learning to knit alongside my brothers, our mom teaching us. It didn't last long, but my love of craft took hold. Sewing came next, then oil painting, then cross stitch and quilting. Still going strong!

We used to play Scrabble with our kids when they were young. They are grown now, but we still get together ..no special reason and BBQ. You need to take a brake sometimes. Enjoyed your video. Thanks ladies. 👏👏🤗 hugs to you both.

I'm 71. I used to crochet in my teens and early 20s. I sewed my clothes as a teen on. I haven't crocheted in years. I have heard it's good for our aging brains to learn new things or up our skills. So I'm trying to relearn. Luckily my hands still work and I inherited patience grom my mom.

Good morning, thank you for another interesting video.
Ashlee, I made quilted table toppers using crochet doilys appliqued as a center block or as a fan block etc. the result was looking very feminin and vintage.
Misty, there are many crafts I tried over the years. I mastered them all but not get hooked like occhi or even hand quilting what I learned from an Amish women who lived here in Germany near Berlin, I knew how to do but it is not mine...
When you want to give crochet another chance, use a at least 2 or 3 no. bigger hook so the result will not be so tight, over time your stitch will loosen on its own when you are no longer so tense and you can use the right size hook. ❤

Craft night! What a great idea!! Misty, I am teaching a crochet class at my doctor's office to a bunch of 70+ women and if they can get it I know you can too. I even made a few UA-cam videos under Nancysworld4178 where I go through some of the basic stitches. You have to remember, just like you and Jenny and Natalie always say, "practice makes perfect" so practice, practice, practice and you will be able to make it,!!❤ Hope you give crochet another try! 😘

My mother has tried several times to teach me to knit and crochet. But no matter how many times I’ve tried, it’s just not for me. But at 60 yrs old I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m sewer. But my newest hurdle is EPP.

Be patient with crochet. Learning the stitches is fairly easy but it takes some time to develope the muscle memory. Each hand has a job and the two have to work together. Just takes a little time. Don't expect to be good right off. It's awkward and a lot of people give up but you can't skip the muscle training part. The more you are able to relax into it, the sooner it will come.

Misty what is the name of that quilt behind you. I saw it when Jenny was on You Tube and loved it. But I have no idea the name of the quilt. Thank you.

Hello Misty, I’m watching and laughing out loud because I too cannot master the art of crocheting. I love sewing and knitting but my brain and hands just won’t communicate when it comes to crocheting. Why is this a thing? Love the show.

I’m the same way. I have tried several times to make a crochet throw. They came out as trapezoids. I know where my bugaboo is in crochet (starting/ending rows), but the multiple tries - and I mean multiple - were unsuccessful. So knitting/crochet holds reverence in my world.

To those who say "it's easy". If people said that to my mother she would reply "Brain surgery is easy if you know how". She was so funny.

Over use of “you know” and “ I love that” distracts from the context which is amazing!
