      @@foodprepguidehamburger meat and inexpensive beef cuts and turkey but not ground just whole turkey you buy frozen. I’m stumped! I absolutely am SO glad you did this. I thawed out boneless thighs and today was trying to figure out what type of meal in qt jar to do and here you are. Groc tonight and will do what you have done tomorrow Lord willing. I really MUST HEAR what you thought as you try them even if it’s a one liner comment of whether you’d do again and what you’d do differently. Ty from the bottom of my heart. These are affordable and may God bless you and your family for helping others eat better.

    More meals in jars Please!! And I love the one jar format because it allows you to scale up as you see fit.
    If I'm going to the trouble of investing, thawing, prepping, canning, cleaning up....I love having an almost complete meal in the jar. I still ingredient can, but dinner in 15 minutes is absolutely worth a day or 2 of canning! It also keeps my family away from restaurants and fast food.

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  3 дні тому +2

      Totally agree! ❤️ Originally, I didn't even think about how convenient the one-jar format was as I was just wanting to test multiple recipes in one canner load, but you're right ... I love how easy it will be to scale!

    Looks great 😸
    Just a little hint....a permanent marker will not wash off when pressure canning. I usually write on the lid before putting them in the canner so I don't get things mixed up once things are done.

I totally love using it, it is just a bit smaller though, it holds 5 pints or 4 quart jars. It is safety tested and approved for pressure canning and very easy to use. I've successfully canned so much this year with it and it can also be used for water bath canning or pressure cooking food. Just fyi if you haven't made a purchase yet. If you use raw chicken, do you need to adjust how much broth you use to fill the jars? As the chicken cooks, does it produce its own juice which would add to what you already have in the jar? Thank for these wonderful meal ideas.

    • @foodprepguide
      @foodprepguide  4 дні тому +4

      Great question! Normally, when canning raw meat, we don’t add water because it produces its own juices. But all of these meals in jars call for filling with water or broth to 1-inch headspace even when using raw chicken. I’m not 100% sure why that is, but it works. 🤷‍♀️
