the meaning of the song is that the girl he was pursuing turned out to be a lesbian.. she had a boyfriend who ‘looked like a girlfriend’ literally just means she had a girlfriend. anyway it’s a banger. you should definitely listen to more songs by the killers because this was brilliant. maybe ‘all these things that i’ve done’? if you want something a little more underground by them try ‘this river is wild’- it’s easily one of my favourites.

For me, sometimes listening to lyrics in depth and/or hearing the song in very high quality for the first time is equally powerful to literally listening for the first time ❤
Love the songwriting for the killers, whoever does it. Sometimes I feel they are overproduces and on some songs I wish they were a little more raw, but the production sure works on this one. Great song. On some of their other stuff I prefer covers to the original artists, but the songs are great.
