Thank you for sharing the link to this video with me. You're a braver woman than me. I never would have remembered how to get that thing back together. Congratulations for getting it all cleaned up and working!
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Definitely! At this point, I probably have nothing to lose with my serger either. It has been sitting in a crate since I moved from South Carolina to Texas almost 20 years ago. I think it is well past time for me to give it a go again. :)
Awesome how you transformed that dirty seized up mess into a clean, oiled, beautifully working machine, giving it a second life. Loved the silver foil trick for getting rust off metal too.
I admire that you didn't let the machine disassembly intimidate you at all. You are better than a lot of experienced mechanics that I've worked with over the last 50 years. Great job, keep up the good work.
Brilliant, having a go at cleaning and repairing is inspiring. Your cleaning tips for the plastic and metal are so easy to follow. I am going to give my plastic iPod stand the same treatment. Thank you.
I am a new subscriber and thoroughly enjoyed watching this! I’m going to give cleaning a go on one my niece gave me that is in similar shape. Thanks for making this video!
Great job. Husqvarna makes great machines. I bought the S15 many years ago as my first serger and got hooked. I also have the 936 which is an old model but very advanced serger and coverstitch combo. It makes a beautiful stitch although many people hate it because it it hard to thread. I love it and think it is worth the trouble. I was having trouble with the coverstitch and found a website that sells the repair manual. While I can say that it is not for the faint of heart, I was able to make the necessary adjustments and I now get a beautiful coverstitch. I could not have done it without the repair manual which explained what to loosen and move to get the right clearances. Anyway, great job.
I have a Husqvarna from around 1958. As far as I know, it works well. It's in good condition -- it was a wedding gift received by my grandmother, but she wasn't that domesticated so she didn't use it much lol! I think there is something wrong with the bobbin casing. I will have to take it to someone to service.
I would like to see you add length to a dress. I sewed a dress that had an option of putting a ruffled bottom and didn’t choose to add it. It was a terry knit material and I can’t find the same material. It is a bit too short for my liking. Hope you can help. I love your channel.
That's a good idea Norma. I usually do alterations videos whenever a customer brings in something I haven't filmed before. Let's hope I get one like this soon😊
Awe your amazing! I only started quilting and sewing in Jan 2020. After two years I just upgraded my Walmart brother to a Juki 2010Q. I want to get into bag making. I would love to learn how to sewing with a serger. What is the difference between an over lock and a serger.
I've been considering acquiring a used serger; could you recommend the best second-hand model and highlight which models I should particularly watch out for?
I got an old nicotine stained serger from a family friend. Ive cleaned it, oiled it, threaded and rethreaded. I keep breaking the right needle very early on. Any suggestions?
I'll ask the obvious first! Have you changed the needle? If it's a round shank, check it's in the right way too. Check the needle plate doesn't have any burrs on it which can cause shredding, and also the thread. Old thread will perish over time and break easily. Cheap thread also can be the culprit. Hope one of these are a solution 🙂
You did a good job of taking the overlock machine apart n put it back together. Good job.
Thanks Lucille 😊
Well aren't you a woman of many talents Christine, I'm really enjoying your videos. Well done.
Haha, thank you Jane😄

Fantastic work Christine. That alfoil trick is a treat.

So nice to see the Husky run again! Thanks
Thanks Soren. It's a dream to use 😀

Thank you so much William. I like to tinker, and figured I had nothing to lose whilst in that condition 😊

Good on you Lynda. Hope it's a success😁
Nicely done! Now you've got a perfectly good machine, and all it took was some elbow grease and sewing machine oil 😀
It's amazing how little it can take to get something going again 😁

Thanks Begonia. The repair manual would have been handy for my Janome coverstitch. I ended up purchasing an industrial CS, and am so in love with it😁
Well done, glad you saved it,so many people throw good things away, thank you for sharing
You're welcome Eve 😊
Almost made me cry😢poor thing would have been abandoned 😂❤
Not on my watch!! I've been known to sneak them out of our recycling centre to bring back to life😁
What a little gem of a machine. It is running beautifully now.
Yes, it's running beautifully now😀

Thanks Ian. Yes, things have gone crazy 😄😄
Well done.. I wish I had the courage to take apart my seized up overlocker
They're fun to do Sena. Take photos of every step, then you can refer back to them when you get stuck. Video is great to do too 😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Thanks Christine great advice. I will give it a go😀
You can literally do anything!
Haha. I just pretend I can. Trick is not to be afraid to try🤪
She's a pretty clever chick Cynthia! 😁😍
Excellent. Fun to watch, thanks
Thanks Anne😊
New suscriber here - and I'm hooked!

Welcome aboard!😁
Well done! Such a grand feeling to save this machine.

You are one amazing woman. Is there anything you won’t try.? I’m really amazed.
Haha, skydiving is off the list Pat😄
Looks amazing. I am glad to see you fixed it. It worked beautifully.

Thanks Anne 😀

I recommend taking lots of photos as you pull it apart so you know how to put it back together again. Good luck 😀

The older machines are certainly worth fixing as long it's not too major a problem. They're so robust 😃
Amazing!
Thanks Christine😁

Overlocker and serger are the same thing, just called something different in a few countries 😊
To get yellowing out of plastic, peroxide cream (about 35%) and UV rays, either the sun or UV box. It will come up like new. :)
Thanks Rebecca. I might try that one day. Hopefully Chris has some in his shed 😀
I've been considering acquiring a used serger; could you recommend the best second-hand model and highlight which models I should particularly watch out for?
I like Janome machines mostly, and would steer clear of newer Singer models😁
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you. :)
My handwheel is stuck can not move ,how I can I fix it
I have no idea. Sorry😀

@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Thank you. I got it running pretty smooth but still need to adjust tension.
