Thank you so much for the great lectures. many medical students will never forget your impact in their lives after graduation . what a super great explanation.
I'm studying in Germany and it's a little different here. The first exam is after 2 years of study and consists of mostly anatomy, physiology and biochemistry whileas the next exam will comprise all the clinical subjects:)

I’m writing a short essay on Wilson’s disease for my anatomy class. This video makes me feel like I actually understand what is going on instead of just recycling a bunch of complex information that I don’t understand and typing it into an essay format
Thank you for the amazing video! I just think there was a mistake with the ATP7B Gene, as it codes for a transport protein for copper. Apoceruloplasmin can still be found in the blood tests at elevated levels as the protein still exists, there is just no copper bound to it. :)
Amazing vdo👍❤️😉 But my reference is from Robbins 9th edition pg-850 It defines that ATP7B gene codes for ATPase, a copper transporter and not for ceruloplasmin which is a globulin. Could u plz explain which one's right? I mean which protein does it code for.
I have a minor correction: The disease being autosomal recessive mens that each one of the offspring has a 25% chance of having the disease, it doesn't mean that 25% of the offspring will have the disease.

Stunning
How is the urine cu increased as plasma proteins bound cu are not filtered through kidney and the serum cu is high ?
Please if the cupper will not secreted into blood and accumilate in the liver
How it will reach other organ?
I hope it is not a stubid question
as it is accumulated in hepatocytes, this will lead to damage to the membranes by ROS and Cu2+ leakage to the plasma
Thank you!! Great lecture

I mean which protein does it code for.
The ATP7B gene provides instructions for making a protein called copper-transporting ATPase 2

How Cu enters the hepatocytes?
Via the blood stream.
Thanks. I understood via blood stream, but how it enter the hepatocytes (through which transporter?)
Kinda made me laugh about the sad person at the beginning. I’m that one who had 25% risk of getting it, and got Wilson’s 🥲
I am so sorry 😞
