They are paid in US dollars, it's just converted to CDN $. The difference is the taxation. All players in the NHL are paid in US dollars. The tax is based on residency, and Canada has much higher federal tax than the the US, and in the US, some states have no State tax, so some players really make more money by being based in various US States like Texas and Florida that have no State tax, but don't forget that some Provinces have higher Provincial Tax than others. So BC & Alberta have a lower tax rates than say Ottawa or Quebec, even lower than California or NY. Housing is also a big issue.
Great to see Burkie! I could listen to him all day long!
Iff on that last topic. 32 teams. 16 playoff teams. That has to stay!!!
Burke great guy very knowledgeable he is awesome
I would watch Pwhl at Roger’s arena! Oh, only if beers are under 10$…. Could otherwise see spending 45$ on good tickets and 100$ on beer!
Burke made a big mistake not getting another d man during the west coast express days
If Canadian market teams pay players in U.S. dollars wouldnt it make up for the extra taxation in Canada?
No, that just increases their income in Canada.
