Possibly the most tragic character in television history. Chris has no out, no backup plan, he’s stuck in this life. Yet Chris has deep emotions, a heart and soul, traits that are deemed a weakness in his world. It’s why when Tony kills Chris, it’s the most important moment in the entire series. This is the moment where Tony’s horrific actions cross a line with the audience, the first time he kills someone where there was no reason to.
I completely agree with you. I’ve never understood people who say that Tony had good reason to kill Christopher. Tony and the crew were the whole reason he was pushed back into substance abuse again and again. It wasn’t Christopher’s fault. Tony didn’t kill him to protect the business, he killed Chris because he wanted to. It’s the saddest story in the entire show.

"sometimes I go about in pity for myself, and all the while a great wind carries me across the sky" is such a beautiful and articulate line. If you've ever lived a life you're ashamed of that caused a great deal of pain to others physically and emotionally, this resonates so deeply. I feel bad for feeling bad for myself and crave dying every single day for the things I've done to others. Chrissy was written as such a beautiful and tortured soul and it breaks my heart every scene I see him in, it's like a mirror
Christopher's whole insecurity, his arc, is that he gets groomed and indoctrinated deeper and deeper into the mob by the one who SHOULD be looking out for him (Tony). Instead, his actual passions are ostracized and discouraged, and his only outlet to vent about how everyone around him is undermining him is Adriana and drugs. By the end of the series, he has thrown away everything that makes him, him. He makes his movie but its undermined by the loss of Adriana, an unhappy marriage, etc. He lives a hollow life and by the end all he has left is regrets and a desperate need to atone for his sins. This is Christopher's overall arc, and its why the last thing we really see of him is him trying to fix a destroyed tree. The damage is done but he really wants to repair it.@@loveyourself1803 Anybody can empathize with that, I think.

This is an incredible edit. Many of the scenes with Christopher have a bit of a comedic twist to them, but it's a totally different story when you watch with serious music. The darkness of his scenes hits you.
its crazy most people don’t get how tragic chrissy’s demise and ending was. dude was depressed the whole series and self medicated like some depressed people do. i have myself but became sober. without a good support system and real love most people can’t get the help they need. his death defiantly hurt the most. tony couldnt see or think about helping him in a right way. he never truly loved him.
People who blame Christopher don't understand what "product of your environment" means. At heart he's one of the purest guys in the series but then you have to watch how he continuously mirrors the wicked people around him because that's what he knows.
Holy S, turns out he had the most amazing arc ever. It was just spread out in little pieces over time. Even as a huge Christopher/Michael Imperioli fan, this blew my mind. Loved it.

I only recently finished watching for the first time, exceptional series!! Loved Chris. I'd read somewhere or seen something that seemed to suggest Christopher ended up being number one after Tony had died. In the last season when Tone was having his coma dreams, I was thinking here we go, he's gonna pass and Chris will take over. Well....I was not expecting Christopher to die, least not half at the hands of Tony, blew me sideways that and I never quite fully recovered for a few episodes. Absolutely loved the ending as well, thought it was brilliantly done, the signs are all there but it still leaves the door slightly ajar for some imagination and interpretation, I love stuff like that.
