Hahahaha pin me comrade for I have clicked on the video in 10 secs. Hahahahhahaha
Honestly a preacher using a shotgun and chainsword to slay daemons is definitely an Evil Dead vibe. Groovy!
Shop smart - shop S Mart!
Fun thing about assault weapons in 10th with the current missions. Some Secondaries require the unit to be eligible to shoot for them to get the points (Deploy teleport homers & Cleanse Objective).
So that shotgun wielding Emperor-botherer allows the whole unit to advance and score points 🪖
(cigar drops from mouth - and burns lap)
But I'd trade it all for the old 8th Codex War Hymns.
This is why I run my tomb blades 2x Particle 1x Tesla because tesla has assault lol
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a Regimentel preacher man
I think the Holy Pistol comes from finding a way for Taddeus the Purifier from Blackstone Fortress to be taken in 10th. It used to be an autostubber i think. It's attached to a servo skull on the model
It would be nice if the preacher could join ogryn type units. A nice reference to dark crusade and soulstorm
He is a bit like the commissar in that his rules are a bit to niche and he is not strong enough by himself to really justify taking him.
Love this channel. Recently found after i picked up guard. Great videos and love the battle reports. Keep up the great work.
Welcome brother
I really don't get why the Guard like to appear as aome coordinated unit, where it's separate parts makevit a stronger whole...but then it just loves to have parts that feel more like the extra bits the Orks didn't use when the cobbled together the looted Ikea furniture they stole. You can have an Ogryn Bodyguard; they obviously are meant to be able to work alongside Guard, but then GW just likes to make them standalone, and hard to buff, or integrate into the battle plan for the rest of the force. They didn't create a Guard dedicated melee unit, like Catachan, yet, which means Ogryns and Bullgryns are supposed to fill that roll, but then they get gimped at it, and Guard remain just a gun line army. They really should be able to benefit from a Commissar, or a Priest.
In the case of Straken + 20 catachans, adding sustained hits to Straken would be nice as he lost his sustained hits [2] from 9th. But considering 20 catalads = 20 attacks, thats on average like 3-4 sustained hits which must still roll to wound. Versus a command squad with 4 veterans w/ chainswords = 12 attacks, hitting on 3* (4) potentially rerolling 1's. The company commander covers the attacks the priest makes with chain/power weapon. Add in an Ogryn bodyguard and it adds another 6 "Straken like" attacks.
Im curious tho, does anyone know whether there's a clause specifically baring two Epic Heroes from being in the same squad. Could we have for example:
Straken + Jungle Fighters + Command Squad (Legal).
And then following Nork Deddog's ability : Loyal Protector, it only mentions the protector must attach to a command squad, and the command squad cannot already have a protector.
In the Death Guard Index, several characters have special rules allowing them to join units that already have another leader. So, unless a Guard character has a similar special rule, I'd say they can't double up.
@@michaeljdauben yuh it specifies two leaders can join a unit granted both of them aren't command squads. Check out a battle line card from guard (Cadians, infantry, etc)
Wish they could have allowed Preachers a mount as an upgrade.
Can you Imagine the carnage of Rough Riders galloping in, with a drunk half crazed priest lolloping along as best he could while reading out the "Catechisms of Hatred" on a Particularly stubborn mule? 😂. It'd be horrifying to your opponent, and hilarious to you.
If you've got a few points left over, the preacher may be the best way to spend them. Much more useful then a commissar.
He's joining my 20man DKOK blob along with a marshal, and then he's being sent to help secure the central objective. He's a force multiplier, he adds re-rollable combat punch, and he adds the durability of his 3 wounds of 4++/5+FNP. Yes please! One man may make the difference of flipping an objective.
Can’t express how hype I am for a comprehensive shake down of the Leman Russ variants and how best to field them to strike terror in the hearts of His foes
ARE YOU READY TO DIE FOR ME?!
Odd how different the adepta sororitas preacher is
I think that are good, but shame abt the Ogryns
A fighting preacher is kind of useless. It would be better to make him have the ability to confer some sort of blessing upon a unit he joins. If one of those blessings would be to grant all models in the unit he is with that their attacks (shooting or melee) ignore deamonic saves, that could be brutal in the right situation. Another blessing might be to ignore shock and another could be to confer an invulnerable save of 4+ much like a psyker does. Make his presence as an enhancement, not as a mediocre fighter.
GW doesn't really think about this model and the rules reflect that.
Maybe if Loyalist Beastmen made a comeback, and got added to Guard as a dedicated disposable melee unit (basically loyalist Cultists from CSM), the Preacher would be really solid. That is, assuming GW also remembered to make it possible for the Preacher to lead them. I wouldn't be surprised if GW just forgot about the Preacher.
honestly I've always felt guard should get squads of mp's or commissar cadets to act as that disposable melee squad. That or something like cyber mastiffs that the enginseer has cooked up in his free time.
If Holy Piety applied to all models in the unit, MAYBE I'd then be tempted to run this with a unit of Catachans
I think most of the guard characters are a trap. As much as the orders can be good 80% your using +bs. And would you pay the 60ish points to have +1bs on a unit. I wouldn't just take more guns.
Give us Eviscerators back!
Just boosting War Hymn back to +1 attack for models in the unit would put him right back up there. Sustained hits is just weak sauce compared to that. They could have also just rolled all of the 9th ed prayers into one passive ability giving the sustained hits, a bonus to battle shock tests, an invuln save of 6+ and a FNP of 5+ versus psychic attacks to represent the proper level of zealotry and righteous faith!
Yeah sustained hits are good if you have 6 over 6 attacks per guy, or rerolls,
Is this the same unit that was a priest with a 2H eviscerater chainsword?! I have a metal 1 of those.
Replace Sustained Hits 1 with Devastating Wounds for regular rank and file, in melee, when using Fix bayonets Voice of Command. That's both perfect fluff wise and not OP.
Lol that would be busted. But on the other hand atleast youd have to work for it
Would love a Hammer & Bolter episode about a regimental preacher ⛪️
I converted mine to have an evicerator now it will only count as what?
I'm sorry old school (3rd ed) cool is a preacher with a plasma gun.
Bring back servitor Mordian
This wasn't sevitor Mordian?
So can I have a preacher lead my Bullgryns?
Lol his second ability is TRASH inside an scion unit, since he already gets that ability there...
