Harker has a special place in my heart for 10th edition - he declared payback time and rolled 3 6s (and 2 normal hits) taking out a Deathleaper in a single volley of righteous fury!
I love Harker, but I'm a die-hard Catachan player. Don't forget Harker gets the Catachan bonus in combat while in the squad. +1 str and AP so he'll swing at Str5 and Ap-1. Also if he rolled 6 sixes it would be 24 hits total (6 hits+18 sustained hits). He's definitely a badass.
hes only 40 points now...and i guess if hes with catachans who have to run flamers who dont need their bs skill and hes already coming in at +3 you can always stick him in cover and give him take cover at the same time plus the -1 to hit from the hellraiser ability...
Harkers such a beast, the strength of a space marine without the gene splicing sci-fi power armor shenaniguns, elephant legs for a neck and bowling balls for bollocks, bringing the hurt while feelin no pain
My experience right now is that 12" -1 gets incidentally ignored by fireprism linking if the unit with it matters enough. The wording of his datasheet implies we arent getting Catachan Devils this edition, which makes me sad.
I miss the Catachan Devil sqaud. I have made 2x variations based on 3rd Ed. And Preditor. They have sat in a she box since 8th Ed. (Boo! Hiss! Snub! GW). Even Harkers Hellraisers didnt live up to the hype of my Cat Devil sqauds.
Harker is a great officer for Catachans. As a castellan doesn't really do much for them. The -1 to be hit does help with keeping the squad alive. His heavy bolter is ok. If it goes off, it can be dangerous. A fluffy officer who I think is reasonably priced. If you are using Catachans of course. Creed is over powered, but that's another story!
Kinda find it amusing the Catachans heros, leaders, whatever you want to call them are all so strong. Yet the normal Catachans troopers are.....not so much.
I always thought the Catachans should be semi-elite. I know it'd push them into competing with the likes of Scions, but I love the idea of having an army of 1980's action heroes with multiple wounds and other ridiculous abilities for mere guardsmen.
@@RJALEXANDER777 Considering the world they grew up on, they should be. I'm all for Cadians and they should be good shots, high morale, great gear, etc that being born into an Army would instill in a person. But Catachans should have better T (or maybe a low FNP roll?), WS, etc. Can't be too high as they're not Space Marines, but they're far from normal humans IMO. Plus you know that 80/90s action hero thing.
Can't wait for Mordian to run Catachan on the channel, they were some of my favorite battlereps of 9th; being the ones where field tested Straken comes out of the wood work and impresses the entire community.
Straken is still a beat stick, especially when connected to a unit that also has a command squad attached. With fix Bayonets they are actually doing some respectable damage in close combat. Blob squad with command squad attached comes in with 31 regular swings, Straken's swings, the regular officers power fist swings, and if you add an Ogryn Bodyguard with the giant knife another 6 str 9 ap-2 swings. All of these with lethal hits, str 4, and hitting on 3's.
@@coldsteel.and.courage Oh hell yeah he is, I really hope Mordian runs him like that, just wondering if Nork can join the bully squad or have to settle for ogryn bodyguard. I'm glad this combo is getting around 😀
@@dominicl5862 Nork can, but Straken reduces your chances to proc devastating wounds as the lethal hits won't get a wound roll. I say stick Nork with the unit escorting the Lord Solar
@@coldsteel.and.courage you're worried about your Auto Wounds not getting a 16% chance to convert to mortal Wounds, that's madness. Even so in Lord Solar Squad I wouldn't want them to be on the front lines. Just for the people out there that are thinking about the gnarliest melee combo. All of Strakens attacks and the command squad and Nork, backed by 20 ablative wounds. You'll get way more chances to use the Headbutt and generate mortals that way. A Nork in the backline only using his headbutt and combat as a counter measure is totally dandy, it wouldn't generate as many Mortal Wounds as a Nork on the front lines with Straken.
@@dominicl5862 that proposed unit is 340 points. Mine is 245 and still kills a little over 10 space marines on the charge. How much dakka and glass cannon resources do we need in one spot? 🤣 With my combo Straken's unit cost being lower pays for 2 extra scout sentinels
Put harker + 1 squad in a Chimera. Harker can safely fire from the gun hatch and the chimera can also scout forward. Use this unit to try to capture the more isolated flank unit in no man's land. Harker would probably be able to shoot all 5 turns safely. Not sure whether the -1 also applies though when he is in a chimera. If it does its a bonus😊
The -1 won't apply when he is inside the transport. Models off the board cannot use their rules unless something like "firing deck" or "mobile command vehicle" says otherwise

No matter how he performs he is a must have for my Armageddon Ork Hunters that I play as catachans
If he rolls 6 on every dice during Harkin' time, he scores 24 hits. Sustained hits are in addition to the original crit.
Once again my Ogryn Brain Strikes again!
You could combo with another leader with drill commander to get sustained hits 3 and lethal hits on a 5+

when you attach him to a Catachan squad does he replace the squad sgt. or is he the 11th man in the squad
Nuts question here if it's minus 1 from the dice roll does that mean emermies with sustained hits cannot get a 6 to trigger it?
It’s the unmodified roll of 6 that triggers the sustained hit, not the end result.
