Ah, the long-awaited debut of Macbeth! Had a lot of fun voicing both the Cornerian and Venomian tank soldiers. These keep getting better and better, can't wait for more voice work opportunities in future levels.
I did along with every other fan who's at least seen a small part of Legend of Zelda content at some point. Whether the animated series or the memes based on the series
Really appreciate adding more story lore for MacBeth. I’ve always thought the planet would be under brutal Venomian occupation and the locals would be enslaved to continue mining ore to feed Andross’ war machine.
I’m not gonna lie, this project is incredible! I grew up playing Star Fox 64 3D on the Nintendo 3DS, and I love how creative this is! It’s nostalgic while still being unique and original in its own way. Absolute incredible work from all of those involved!
I find it curious how Macbeth now belongs to the "Easy" route in this game of all things, yet it's still pretty complicated, especially blowing up the bridge. Excellent work!
To be fair ,It was originally from the normal route, which is only traversalble by beating Star Wolf on og Fortuna to leave the easy route or failing sector y or zones hard route stipulations ( 100 kills in sector y and destroying the search lights in zoness) to go to the easier normal route , derailing the train was the only way to recover the hard route once you get kicked to the normal route , otherwise you'd go to the easy route.
Ooohh, I remember how hard it was to play this level. Perhaps I should try it again? Also, I love everything about it. The fight, the voice-casting, the music. The lot!
I love how you manage to give each planet far more character than before, yet it's all within character and done quickly and without fuss. When I was playing through this on my N 64, Macbeth was just "The Grey Planet". Now I'll never look at it the same way again!
I like the fact that Fox isn't alone on the ground. Slippy is also in a Landmaster, Peppy, and Fara are giving close air support for the tanks, Bill and Falco are doing bombing runs, and the Great Fox is doing strafing runs. It feels like the battfield feels more alive.
Excellent work on the train job, everybody! IceCreamMan, your work continues to breathe new life into the series, and the cast continues to be amazing!
Yo, Macbeth! A level I thought was cool but frustrating as a kid. One of my favorite bosses for his dialogue, he was so funny. Speaking of voices, the voice acting in this video is great!
6:35 Woah! Just seeing entire warfare with shots being fired everywhere really looks amazing and flashy! I really like how the battle is not just on the ground, but also in the air too! Looks absolutely stunning!
Androssian Invader’s Journal: Macbeth “After the embarrassment of the Sector Z missile launch, our commanding officers removed us from our comfortable billet on Macbeth, and split up our unit of the Androssian Invasion, to monitor the Empire’s new defense satellite on Bolse and keep an eye on our air defense zone. Ironically, our punishment eventually proved to be our salvation. The poor souls who took our place in the Supply Depot were completely wiped out when the Weapons Factory was destroyed.”
...Heh, I wonder if the idle prod at the Ship and Weapons Selection implies we can chose our loadout for the mission? I actually wonder if there are at least two models of "Landmasters" to chose from? 5:04 Doge Meme as a Cornerian Tank Driver.
You know I've always through the original Starfox 64 line was "You're very lucky" when the boss spawns but "Y'all very lucky" actually kinda makes more sense with the bosses Southern accent.
A little sad it's not derailing the train into the weapons factory like the original. That's one of the most satisfying moments in the entire franchise.
Honestly this project you guys are working on is a dream come true for me, star fox 64 was one of the first games i ever played as a kid, and to see this love letter to the series is just a treat, i only discovered this recently but I'll defo bw giving it a try! Voice acting for the characters os superb so kudos to all working on this project!
I've come across this for the past day and I got to say, I'm very impressed with this fan project! I've been on a huge StarFox kick this year and seeing a huge project like this towards StarFox is amazing! I can't believe you guys actually got the voice of Krystal and Bill!
For a moment, I thought we were going to get Macbeth's hollow interior from the original game. OG Macbeth is seriously underrated. Ah, well, you still gave it way more character, while keeping faithful to 64.
Extremely wonderfully well done with this part, And now the next level of Star Fox Adventure, and now stopping the enemy. did Peppy just say that line!, that reference. I am sure a lot are going to noticed that one. :) And now showing both sides, i like the Derailing path, it leads to great enjoyment and so much more. and dealing a massive blow. Though anyway voice actors were mighty greatly spot on as always. To all those doing this. Continue doing mighty amazing. :D
4:42 nice Zelda reference XD Also, I'm sure that's not it, but the Cornerian tank driver reminded me of those shiba inu citizens from Blue Archive. The Landmaster cannon either has no sound or the sound's too low.
Suggestion; there could be a pro/con to the choices you make in certain missions; letting the train reach the base means you capture the munitions factory for your own use, but only after a difficult battle with friendly casualties. Ending the fight early skips a difficult fight and preserves your forces, but destroys a valuable asset you could have used. Dilemmas like that could help each campaign feel unique and greatly increase the replay value! (But I have no experience making games so what do I know?).
I'm rather disappointed that you couldn't divert the train to crash into the depot like you could in Star Fox 64. That said, all those giant switches didn't make a lot of sense. It would've made more sense if Slippy hacked into the local traffic control computer to switch the point if it took you too long to destroy Mechbeth.
Great to see this level come to life with the voices! One of my most remembered back when I played the original as a kid. Looking forward to seeing what comes next! Edit as of 4/10/24: After coming back to this with a more clear mind, I'm curious on the second Landmaster you brought in for this mission. Obviously this is for gameplay reasons, but part of me likes to think Space Dynamics worked with Beltino to get a second model produced once they saw the grave scale of the war. Or maybe Slippy was able to recreate a near one-to-one replica with permission. Also- smart addition of the Cornelian forces getting their own tank division and bringing mention to the SNES version of Macbeth being hollow.
Hmm. Falco's line in the briefing about "that lizard's scorch marks" makes me think of Solar, but that takes place AFTER this level here. Is he just talking about getting shot at by Leon several levels ago?
@@UndyingNephalim Been enjoying the demo so far - though the purpose of two powerups elude me. I've figured most out... but sometimes when I hit a Gold Ring, nothing happens. I remember the train level from the N64...good times. I assume this is all animation and that someone hasn't actually made this into a game (Nintendo's legal department doesn't like that sort of thing). Awesome work.
Nice work. Though there are some typos in the dialogues but I'm sure it will be fixed by the time the final product comes out. As for where the two endings for this Macbeth, I'm guessing its Sector Z and Solar, with Sector Z being the destination if you managed to destroy the factory.
I'm still not sure how the train derailment took out the factory. If anything, it looks like letting the train get to the factory and destroying it there is the better option. Like, if I spend all my time destroying the enemy tanks and turret towers instead, what happens? Is it a timed mission, or do things just advance with your participation or lack thereof?
Before the air raid, the train stops at a checkpoint depot until the anti air towers are destroyed. When the train gets to the base the final area you enter is a loop.
well this is certainly really different than I expected! I love all the newly added complexities of the squads and characters. However, this mission doesn't feel very much like a train chase that the original mission gave the vibe of; the train trudges along super slowly until the Boss fight, whereas in SF64 it really felt like you were constantly chasing after a train that was always just too fast for you to easily dispose the traincars before they got detached, making you work to reach the engine. That said, fighting INSIDE the base is a very interesting concept, and looks very cool... but how does the train falling off the bridge cause the entire base to blow up???
Said it before, but it's absolutely mindblowing what you've done with the old Freespace engine. Even with all the upgrades from FSOpen and its team, I think you're pushing the limits of what's possible. Any plans for a partial release in the nearish future? Nintendo have been a bit more belligerent lately and each video - while exciting - feels like it's flying a tiny bit closer to the sun.
Did you guys get the voice actor of the nameless engineer of the Forever Train in the 3D remake to voice Benjamin? I swear that 'here come the little hyenas, now' sounds like it might as well have been ripped straight from the game. Then again it has been a while, so it might just been that all of the actually returning original talent has created an expectation for such things. Not that the new voice actors are slouches by any definition or metric.
Though I loved the aesthetic of the boss fight, it didn't seem to me that the prototype did much of anything in the fight other than single shots. All the artillery other than those single yellow shots were from the train. Didn't really seem like much of a super weapon. The train looked stronger than the prototype. Rather odd boss fight. Honestly, how little it seemed to be doing is my only complaint for this level. All the other stuff was awesome.
